Your use of the DFAM has pushed me away from using it for percussion and more into rhythmic techno sounds. It's so easy to get stuck into using certain settings; this inspired me to try some others and just had an absolute blast on the DFAM. Thank you so much for the great video!

To go against the advice I just quoted, have you ever looked into a (multi track) mixer?
I believe that Karenn/Blawan route their rc 505 through one send/return channel, thus allowing them to record a loop from one or more elements of the main mix. Additionaly, it’s a great tool for live performance, and if you want to produce your own tracks - if it’s a multi tracking usb mixer. ✌🏻

Of course it‘s normal to crave for new gear, but to focus on one or a few pieces of gear really improves your skills :)
@@kyansky I actually had the Mackie 2408 for a while, haha! Besides that, sometimes I consider the idea for a more versatile mixer, but in the end I want to keep it simple (for now). Other advantage: I only need two bags to carry my setup and 10 minutes to set it up, I love this!

Yeah man! I just use a DFAM for kick/bass/sub sounds things. Anything baselayer basically. Swarm for synth stuff, pads, whatever comes up. Some heavy FX processing with FX aid and a DPLR.
For other percussive noises I have a digitakt going through some drive/distortion unit. And further play everything live. It's so much fun!

Fantastic video Frisqo. Really really helpful for the setup I'm trying to put together. I don't have DFAMs but I have the Quadrantid Swarm, a BIA and a Minibrute 2S which should do something similar. The FH-2 should work as a Euclidean Circles with a Disting and a Disting EX on clocked LFO and echo/looper duty respectively. I'm thinking I'll put the 4MS Sampler and Looper in series then into the EX. Milkyway has a nice saturated side-chain Comp algo and I've a Music Thing Drive and a couple of Feedback PreCR modules (with two still to build) for tone, overdrive and general early 90s-ness. Funnel the lot into a Befaco Mutes then Output Bus and I think it's taking shape. Great work mate - Subscribed!

thanks for all your vids. I´m using hardware only and recommend the setup of DFAM and Swarm (but in the desktop versions) with RC 505 as well, accompanied by the Drumbrute Impact and the Labyrinth. my mixer is the mackie 802 VLZ4 and its two aux for Mooer Ocean Machine and Korg Quad.

Inspiration from start to end! It's impressive that you get such a wide range of sounds from a fairly small setup. The one thing I don't really "get" is how you use the looper. For instance, how do you ensure the looper stays in sync with the modular? Maybe you could consider making a video that goes into the more details on recording and playing back loops?
@@johanwk Thank you! The modular is synced with the looper via MIDI. I will make an extra video soon where I talk about the details
@@Frisqo Excellent!, I look forward to seeing that video. And, now I will give my Bitbox another try as a looper. It was a bit disappointing in the past, requiring menus and setup to get a recording, too much to think about while the modular is playing. It seems like the RC-505 does much better in that regard.

This is so cool, I'm thinking about creating a small eurorack for techno, already have a lot of elektrons in the mix (Octa, DT, A4), I also already own the QS and controlling it from the A4. Now for the DFAM, will the A4 be able to solely control it? seqence/sync/LFO with the CV out? also does this eucledean module (or any other sequencer) surpass the 8 steps limitation of the DFAM? Lastly if my drums are taken care of from a sampler, what other modules do you recommend I should have in this small eurorack? (I guess some of the others you are showing in the video but is there anything essential? Great video, thanks so much!
Thanks! You can combine any device with CV out with the DFAM, just be sure how much volts you feed into it. To surpass the 8 step limitation, you can either use a reset module like MAFD or use another rhythm than straight notes for the adv/clock input. Love the small setup. I would love to know more about your process of finding the best fitting pitch frequency for you kick. Also, how long did it take you to perform "flawlessly" 8n the DFAMs? I love playing my DFAM, but every now and then it doesn't do what I intended it to do and it takes me a little while to figure out why.

What settings are you using on the looper for loop length/ quantize? I have the same looper, but I can never quite get it to do what I want.
My settings:
Play: Quantize = REC END
Play: Loop Length = 4
what do you want it to do?

@@Frisqo Many thanks! Do you have two lfos at your disposal in your case? Do you repatch them live between the swarm and dfam depending on the current need or are they fixed usually?
@@michaelhadas8795 one lfo is clock synced and one is free floating. The ladder is from the Quadrantid Swarm and has several outputs depending on the waveform you want. I use this lfo for many things for example for the DFAM filter. The synced one has also to outputs depending on the waveform and is also good for filters or pitch

I use zoom h6 as well, but like recorder, not interface. Can u tell me more about how you do ?? I record, go to ableton and try my best ( I´m shit in ableton) Cheers !!

As a clock for the DFAM Kick, as a clock/polymetric pulse for the second DFAM and the Swarm, as trigger pulse for sidechain, as reset trigger for the swarm and as trigger pulse for the quantized LFO and the Electus Versio.
