March 2021. My VC60B+ (+/- 50 USD) came with Alligator Clips to go on the ends of the probes. Thanks for the introduction and instruction.

Wow. Thats good going. I must say I handed this unit to my mate to get it into jobs. He still uses it.

Just bought one to test a well pump. They've completely revised the layout and packaging on it. However, it comes with these probes with very little exposed metal, and they're very sharp. That's fine, except the alligator clip adapters that come with it won't work with these problems. They're intended for the probes like you've shown, with an inch (2.54mm :) ) of exposed metal. And there's not enough exposed metal on the probes to use an alligator clip to extend them. I guess this is a new thing, as my Fluke 87V has these same style probes, and I despise them.

for insulation tester must be accurate Reading using resistance box the one covering range of your device 0.1 ohm to 2000 Megohm
    great Job thank you

thanks for sharing . I got aVC60 E+ recently which is supposed to go to 5Kv but the voltage can not go above the 500 V.

got one of those, and trying to get on call with the pro and cons..
they goes for around 20bucks (USD) delivered..
mine arrived yesterday (BG) and looks decent.. btw the casing fits nicely as a bottomplate, as a second plate..
why is there 8 AA battery compartment but only 6 are used and wired,,is it simply for spares..
dont know jack about these megger, but are a sucker for meters and testtool and just general tools to get insigts and testing, but i can figure its like a powerhouse that can give high volt to test if there shortcomming under nominel effect.
Would it be possible to mod it with lipo packs or li-ion batteries to reach around 8 to 12v with two or three cells got so many of those.
so you dont need those AA x6/9v , and assume a liion or lipo pack would also be better in delivering effect, and the topplate fits perfect at the bottom so the battery plate could be off.but not sure if modding with different kind of battery are contaminating the readings (anyway for time-being would be using it as intended & stock, at least to one get common and familiar with this 20buck megger-tool.. its the VCB60B edition there where at 20bucks shipped not sure if there is any difference in regards to the + version... thcx for the walkthrue +1.

Jakob Danmark hi. do u know if I'm allowed to use this tester in the Eletrrical licence exam Australia?

@@richardday2893 yes you are as long as it is in calibration and you will need to get calibrated every six to twelve months
I think you will find the regulations over there are the same as the UK or almost

Fyi I got my electrical license three years ago. I borrowed a tester from a teacher. Cheers.

I have just been watching the episode on the victor VC60B+ and you show using both leads pushed into plug end, surly one lead should go to the outer insulation should it not so you are testing both ways

Im a bit confused - i was testing my car battery which is 12 v DC and by mistake i had put my meter ( VC60B) on the AC range --- at first i was surprised when i was getting a 22 v reading , i checked the range and changed it to DC and got a normal 12v reading. when i checked with my trusted old Wavetech meter -that only read 0 volts when i tested DC supply on the AC range --- Is this normal and ok that the VC60B reads double the DC voltage when set to an AC range _______ Great review

The VC60b can measure AC volts only it does not messier DC if you try you will get readings jumping all over the place.this tester is for testing continuity/insulation resistance and AC voltage up-to 750V AC ,it’s what electricians use to test the wiring in your house.
It’s a fantastic little meter ideal for an apprentice to get going
I have got one had ten years with no problems and it is still working great I keep as a backup

Question, could I use this meter to test to see if a capacitor is leaking DC or it is acting as a resistor?
I am looking for a meter to test capacitors at operating voltages to see if they are leaking ofr acting like a resistor.

    • @davidprice2861
      @davidprice2861 6 лет назад

No, unless it's a high Voltage cap. Testing a 400V cap with the 250V would be ok.

I have that same tester and you could check the 1000 volts with the bm829 no problem.

Fully Agree. My Brymen meters where all left at home so I just used what I had laying around to test. I have tested many over 1000v dc signals with the Brymen TBM series no problem at all.
