Pastry's design looks kinda cute but I don't get why they had to lighten her dough color? What does China have against skulls? And why did they recolor the Red Velvet Dragon? Genuinely curious.
Censoring skulls in video games is actually pretty common for china. I'm not completely sure why either but I read a few times that depicting skulls or skeletons could be seen as culturally insensitive. Possibly because china is very big on honoring their ancestors.
This kind of censorship es applied to games for under 12, games for +12 usually don't requiere this, such as Genshin having mention of Alcohol, skeletons, death and religion inspired desings

Some deaths include: Sherbet dying from a disease, Onion from a chandelier crashing down on her, the Tea Leaf Knights getting killed by a dragon (not sure if they really died like that, that's just how I remember) etc. There's also like, a lot, of mentions of alcohol, though they call it Berry Juice and Grape Juice, that's their equivalent of alcohol since they clearly get drunk upon drink it. And last one is the religion stuff, there are religion stuff like some Cookies praising the Witches, (they have a whole ass church), and the Creme Republic's religion where they seem to be praising the "Divines."
The reason why the chinese ver of crk its diffrent 1 Red Velvet Dragon color was changed to purple due being the same as the china flag 2 changed some cookies skill like vamps BlackBerry and sparkiling due BlackBerry skill have skulls in it 3 changed some design on some Cookies 4 the mainland chinese ver of crk its not out yet
Blackberry doesn’t have skulls in her skill, it’s ghosts. China censors anything paranormal (ghosts, demons, zombies etc.) I’m more concerned what would happen to Devil Cookie.

If I’m not wrong, Genshin Impact is a Chinese game itself. I don’t know much about it yet but from what I can assume based on these changes to CRK, it doesn’t have skulls, or alcoholic drinks, or religious references, or revealing outfits…. If Genshin happens to have any of these, guess China just has double standards.
Genshin has plenty of alcoholism and religious references, quite a few revealing outfits too but 4 of them did get censored for the Chinese server But keep in mind CRK was made with a younger audience in mind, it's 4+ while Genshin is 9+ I believe
@@GiGitteru theres a thing called CADPA for game ratings in china, theres like 6+ ,8+, 12+, 16+, and 18+ The things allowed in the age ranges are different according to whats suitable for them. So different ranges like crk and genshin means difference in content allowed
For peoples that are complaining about the skulls/ghosts censorship, in chinese culture death is a very delicated thing, the avoid basically everything that It is related to this subject, so keep this in the game no only would be something disturbing to their culture but it would be disrespectful to their culture
The most baffling part about China removing the skulls, ghosts and religion is that their own games like Genshin Impact have that kind of stuff too and are given a free pass. Oh btw Red Velvet is completely absent from the game too. Edit: Nvm he's not

And if they really don't want the kids to see that stuff, it's the parents' damn responsibility to do so, not the game's. Not to mention there are also holidays that have those things like Halloween or the Hungry Ghost Festival which children also celebrate.
I’m Chinese and I think I may know why they censor skulls on certain cookies. It’s because death is considered a very bad thing in China and skulls are often associated with death. They probably think it’s disrespectful for a character to have skulls in their design so they removed the skulls.
The Lilac redesign looks cursed, I hate it. I think the Blackberry one is really cute but I don't know if I like it more than the original. I wish they kept Pastry's lore and design religious.

Regarding Pastry’s change, I guess they did it because they were afraid of offending religious players or audiences (Either due to China being mostly an atheist country or because the storyline touches upon the most questionable things about religious sects)

honestly the one thing I do like about Pastry Cookie's redesign for this version, is her Veil, it looks really pretty, the hair style also looks cute.
