  • In Sienna Miller’s recent interview with Vogue, she opened up about her pregnancy for the first time and admitted that her impending motherhood had forced her to address her own prejudices about being an older mother by saying: "I’d love to get to a point where I didn’t feel the need to make a joke of my being older and having a baby, to show I’m in on the joke." But did any of our women feel the same? Both Jane and Linda found their ‘older’ pregnancies easier, and both of Charlene’s were technically geriatric and totally planned.

Sienna looks amazing. I was privileged and had my first at 24. I'm 42 this year, and I'm exhausted. I can't imagine having a baby now with teenagers. Teenagers are extremely hard work, and I've 3 boys now. I'm just grateful i did it young when i was married with money. Arguing with a teenager in my late 60s sounds difficult. Instead, I'm doing it now. The loose women were all older because they had their careers to consider.
We are all different, though, and do our journeys to motherhood how we so choose. ❤ x

A woman has a child at 25 she's judged because she mustn't have any ambitions. She has a child at 41, she's too old and a geriatric mother. One thing about women, we don't ever catch a break. The narrative around a womans fertitility is untrue and it's a narrative that needs to die. My mother had me at 36 and my sister at 41...When SHE was ready not when the male dominated medical field told her to.

I think it's more common to find older mums than younger now. I was 28 having my first and 30 with my second and it can actually be quite isolating as none of your friends have children. Family were even surprised we didn't wait until we were older. We had careers and a house and didn't want to risk waiting in case it didn't happen easily for us. No need to judge either way. I don't feel like a young mum, it just feels right and 20 years ago it wasn't unusual to start your family in your 20s. I find I get looks when I'm out from the older mums all the time. Not sure what they're thinking but it's strange
