Thank you for this, it's a really good and exciting line-up. One thing I think would be a great addition to your team announcements is to show the images of the players as you announce them.
Edwill vd Merwe is going to shock the rugby world.Another pocket rocket in mould of Kolbe CLA.As tough as nails.I am excited.PSDT great choice as captain.Importantly he will have respect of referees.Hope Sacha gets some game time.
Am still confused by this part..how does one define a dominant tackle and do we consider the size of the tackler..because I don't see Nomhamba dominanting many tackles.
Really decent 23. Great balance. Rassie continues to impress with his vision for the future whilst sending a signal to Wales that we are serious. Boks Forever. 🇿🇦
also surprised to see Jadon at 10...and would have liked to see Hooker on the bench to maybe get a few minutes, also very versatile, so would cover a lot of backline positions from the bench...but a good team. Excited for the game!
Masuku was brought into the squad very late. So I'm not surprised they are not throwing him into the deep end immediately. If he gets a debut I think it will be in the rugby championships against Australia or Argentina.
De Allende can also cover flank. So I guess Rassie put him on the bench to have a bomb squad option. It might be highly unlikely but I would not totally put it past Rassie.
The pack is as expected, some exciting youngsters in the backs, I feel for Masuku, but we have to trust Rassie after two world cups. I'm excited to see Jordan in the drivers seat to see what he can do. I'm also excited to see what the new coaching staff have introduced to our game plan, and a weakened Wales team is ideal for us to try out.
Rassie seems to be giving game time to guys that are gonna play vs Ireland so they have some game time (which is why De Allende is on the bench for example, when he didn't have to be on the team), but at the same time he wants to see which of these newer kids can step up. So it's a mixture of key players for the Ireland game and the fringe guys who can play their way into that team, like Fassi, Sacha Mngomezulu, Andre Estherhuizen etc My only issue is 10, there's just no rhyme or reason to play Hendrikse who isn't even the starting 10 at the Lions. That's a head scratcher.
I remind myself that Tony Brown, a flyhalf, is an assistant coach; he must have had a role in this decision. Jordan is a very physical player and playing next to Esterhuizen, watch out!
@@Invinciwil I know but that's likely because of the concussion he got 2 weeks ago otherwise he'd probably be in the squad Probably will be named in the squad for the rugby championship or the November series
Well its easy, big no 10 that can defend, kick and slot in at 12, who comes to mind Handre Pollard. Long term thinking cause Handre might not make the next world cup if the injuries keep pilling up, and he has a huge boot on him alla France Stayne
@@Alias-gy3tz yeah, that's why libbok wasn't chosen at all and why Pollard will still be the starting 10 this year. Rassie has a plan with Hendrikse, trust him.
Battle Stats, in the Rassie era, Kwagga told us in Chasing the Sun II, when you compare any two players, ALWAYS have their Battle Stats as an example their Tackle Success this season: Hendrikse - 118/135 = 87% Libbok - 65/101 = 65% Masuku - 65/106 = 61%
I think rassie is playing eterhuizen at 12 and Damian on the bench so that if one of the back three is not firing then Damian slots in at one of the centers and Jesse gets moved to wing/ fullback. I also think he chose faf just in case hendrikse isn’t firing then faf goes 10
Esterhuizen compliments Jesse Better than De Allende because he has that pass/offload after taking contact, which Damien doesn't have. Same As Am compliments De Allende. Geez the Sharks are gonna be Fire Next season 🙆🏾
He has improved a hell of a lot in that aspect for the Sharks bro. A well deserved recall to the team. Now he has to do a job for the boks. In Rassie we trust.
@@hannesbornman1045 was the form flyhalf for 2023 and arguably is so still in 2024 The only reason people hate on him is because they say he can't kick meanwhile his kicking percentage this year increased up to 75%
Ay no I love Rassie & he might eventually go be proven right but I don't understand this selection. I will trust his wisdom on this but its my least favorite set up with options he had. 8,9 & 10 are not optimal for suc a game.
Agree with you.Jordan did a tough apprenticeship at Lions.Strong and tough player who can play 12 and 15 also. Then there is that massive boot down field when under pressure.I have no doubt Rassie and Tony Brown studied the stats and video material of all four available contenders and decided Jordan fiits in best for what they want to happen. Also sure Sacha and siya will get a chance at 10 this season. We are now blessed with flyhalves.I am old school by nature. Will be nice if Jordan trims his hairstyle a bit and RG Snyman gets rid of that common mullet
I don’t like it. Sorry, Boks just won the WC. What a chance to play some new faces against an inexperienced Wales team. But admittedly Rassie is the best, so who am I to criticize? I would have preferred to see Bongi, Eben and Frans/Koch rested. I also hope none of our first choice locks get injured now. Already Lood and Klein injured. I would have rested PSDT if there were more back-rowers/locks available in the team.

A Good mix of Youth and Experience. Love that Rassie is thinking ahead already and giving future starters a chance.

Edwil Van Der Merwe is a gem
No doubt 👍🏼💪🏼
I'm happy we are so strong at the moment welcome to the debutants .....finally Fassi I'm very excited about him
Cheslin, Kurt-Lee and Edwill are all of the same calibre. No problem. All hyper fast and excellent in defence.
In Rassie we trust
Much respect for wales , but Im impressed by the depth we are showing already.
Going to miss Masuku. Was full of hope for him!
Good enough to beat Wales. Happy to see that new potential flyhalves are getting a chance, since Libbok is not the answer.
So stoked to see Andre the giant starting 👊👊👊 he’s a absolute wrecking ball , highly rate him, PTSD captain fantastic, leading from the front 💪💪💪
I think Rassie made a good decision to start Jordan Hendrikse as flyhalf first to see if he really has what it takes to be a Springbok
As soon as i see Faf...i know we winning😂
Great mix...those left out must keep at it
Further on Battle Stats, dominant tackles - This season:
Hendrikse - 5 dominant tackles
Masuku - 5 dominant tackles
Libbok - 2 dominant tackles
Nohamba - 0 dominant tackles

Rassie has picked a fine team.
we should stop calling Mostert a Utility forward. It didn't work for him at 7 and not to mention ELrich Louw is on FIRE 🔥 🔥 🔥
