First of all, congratulations on your going with your instinct and failing. We all started surf fishing like that. You are right. You need a stripping basket, higher weighted full sinking line, and a switch rod. You want to reach at least 60ft at each cast. Also, you need a quick course on surf reading. 80% of the fish is in 20% of the surf, not everywhere. For example, you need get way behind the first break of the waves from the beach. That break pulls the sand flees etc. through the cuts to the fish. It is like a trout waiting a nymph at the drop-off. Also, timing matters more on the surf. You want mostly incoming tide.
I enjoy the videos but stick to the fishing and not politics. “Native” people of Hawaii came from somewhere and occupied the islands. Just like everyone else.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching! To add some context, where I'm from it's a standard showing of courtesy and respect to offer a land acknowledgement when on historic tribal lands--we do it at graduation ceremonies, conferences, etc.. So I don't see it as political, I see it as manners. If I were to tell people how to feel about it, or try to get people to do something about it one way or the other, then I would agree that's political. But I do it here in the same way I'd take my hat off in a church, wipe my feet before coming inside, etc., it's just something I do to be polite. Also, the facts I stated are well known and not in dispute and part of my mission here is to educate, so offering the acknowledgment is me being true to my principles. How people feel about those facts likely varies, and that's fine--I'm not telling anyone how to feel or think about them--but they are facts and, for me, I can no more ignore facts than I could a thorn in my foot. Hope that helps explain my intent the reason for my actions. Thanks again for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
