    CORRECTION ---> A(y) is = - 14.3 .... or you can say 14.3 (downward direction) (Since upward direction is positive)

      @jeniepalma8713 Год назад +3

      Yes I also got -14.3 so therefore, the arrow should be downward direction😊

      Upward direction is not always positive it also depends on moment

    Keep people with relevant videos, watch How To calculate Reactions at Supports of a Beam; How to check that the Beam is in Equilibrium; How to Draw the Shear Force Diagram; How to Calculate Bending Moments and How to Draw the Bending Moment Diagram: ruclips.net/video/D-Dxt-yCOlg/видео.html

    may i ask how would you know if it counterclockwise or clockwise specially on the summmation moment of A

    • @concretedream7529
      @concretedream7529  2 года назад

      Yes, please check this video. Start to watch at 1:45 and I use 2 way to explain how to identify the direction of the moment: 1. use pencil 2. right-hand rule.

    0:51 how do you decide the direction of the reaction forces (Ax and Ay) on point A?

    • @concretedream7529
      @concretedream7529  Год назад +1

      You can assume ANY direction you want, and your final answer will tell you the real direction. For example, you assumed that the reaction force in y-dir goes down, after solving equilibrium equation, you got a negative value. This means that the orignal assumption (downwards) was wrong, should be in the opposite direction (upwards). I hope this helps.

    Within the sum of the moment around a, how can you add up that other moment on the beam (20Nm) even thos that moment is not around a but around another point?

    • @concretedream7529
      @concretedream7529  3 года назад

      You're using moment equilibrium equation to find reaction forces which means you will need to include ALL the applied moment (20 N-m) and ALL the forces that might produce the moment at the point you summarized.
