Here's a tip for everyone studying for the NCLEX: Just remember A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I
    Obviously Airway, Breathing, Circulation,
    - D=Disability (LOC, GCS)
    - E=Exposure (removing clothing [burns for instance] and prevent heat loss)
    - F=Full Set Vitals/Focused Assessment (ECG's, tubings)
    - G=Give comfort (treating pain)
    - H=Head to toe/History
    - I=Inspect posterior

You are a life saver I’d love if you can do a more in-depth video using Maslow Hierarchy of Needs To how it pertains to-answering questions or just in general to patient care. it can get very confusing and you make the complex stuff easy. Thanks 🙏

Seriously!! We have our first exam soon, and not one time has anyone taught us ABC's, safety, pt. prioritization/delegation or that you assess first. All of this I am learning here on youtube and through google searches. I'm still wondering what exactly am I paying the university for?!?!

Great Job Mike. I just wanted to add one thing I have found when studying for my RN-NCLEX. A lot of pre-test that I have taken have tripped me up with the level of survival rate. I have found during study's and to much practice test that this is too included.

Mike in a sample NCLEX Question I got this wrong, and I don't quite understand the rationale, could you possibly make a video
A nurse has been assigned to four clients in the emergency department, with each client experiencing one of these conditions. Which client should the nurse check first?
Tension pneumothorax with slight tracheal deviation to the right
    This is the correct response
Spontaneous pneumothorax with a respiratory rate of 38
    Incorrect
Acute asthma with episodes of bronchospasm
    Viral pneumonia with atelectasis
    INCORRECT.
    Learning Objective: Lesson 1
Tracheal deviation indicates a significant volume of air being trapped in the chest cavity with a mediastinal shift. In tension pneumothorax the tracheal deviation is away from the affected side. The affected side is the side where the air leak is in the lung. This situation also results in sudden air hunger, agitation, hypotension, pain in the affected side, and cyanosis with a high risk of cardiac tamponade and cardiac arrest.

I watched some of your videos which are excellent!! Can you please give us some scenarios regarding critical thinking. For example pt admitted with abdominal pain. during assessment found rigid abdomen. what will be the diagnosis, implementation & intervention. I know that it coould be perforation or hemorrage. I learned nursing outside America. If you provide some videos like that it would be great. Thanks in advance...

Alot of this priority stuff ive learned so far is basically maslow's pyramid, and according to kaplan, he is right about pain because pain is an emotional thing which gets crossed out when answer questions, and to look for things that will kill ur patient fast

    1. With LOC
    1. With sepsis
    And 1. With labs
Which order would you put that in

so if someone is at risk for infection and also has acute pain 9/10 on scale how am i going to prioritize it? and is pain going to be high or moderate?

    • @SimpleNursing
      @SimpleNursing  4 года назад

oddly enough pain comes last, after ABCs, safety & infection, and 9 of 10 is very HIGH pain
