Just another comment on what you said yesterday about Jdam. Jdam is a Kit, you take a dumb bomb, you place the kit on it and you get a glide bomb that can attack precisely a target. Their trajectory can be defined very finely and is not only parabolic, to allow go around an hill and attack from behind for example. So you can't mix the 2 in the same kind of talk. It's not the same concept. It would be of great utility to add laser terminal guidance to Jdam to allow a better usage of those kits.

There were a number of countries who signed a declaration to confirm the integrity of Ukraine borders when they gave up their nuclear weapons, which they did. One of those signatories didn't abide by that ruling and chose to invade Ukraine and, as much as possible, bomb it into a dust bowl. Those other signatories are now (surely?) beholden to come to the aid of Ukraine with whatever weapons they need to win (except nuclear) and not impose restrictions on their use. This should also include providing armed forces on the ground. Not necessarily for front line combat but for things like ground air defence, repair of the systems provided and other technical information the UA might need. We need Ukraine to win to preserve our peace.

OK Jonathan, there has been something bothering me for a while having to do with Andrew's loss list and 'our' interpretation of those losses. We tend to dismiss civilian vehicle losses as a minor thing. However, I'd say they are significant - but different - for both the Ukrainians and the Russians. A van destroyed might contain a group of soldiers as well as the driver. The Russians wouldn't care as much because they value their people less, but could be terrible for the Ukrainians. A pickup truck probably only has a driver and a passenger, so the impact on a human scale might be less. An abandoned vehicle is probably a good sign because the crew got out and perhaps survived. What I'm saying is the loss of a civilian vehicle could range from an irritation to a disaster, but will be different for the Ukrainians vs. the Russians. With regard to captured vehicles, if the Russians get hold of Western equipment it doesn't help them as much as capturing stuff they can immediately reuse. Almost everything the Ukrainians capture is useful in this regard. Again, the metric is different depending on the side we're talking about.

I wonder what it's like being a proud NATO member country and watching NATO be gutless about Russian aggression. @@surpriseitsus9622 It knows nothing about defense. The move when Russia flies a drone over Romania to attack Odessa would be to sink a Russian ship in Syria or have a suicide drone crash into a submarine pen in Murmansk. Russia does not pay attention to strongly worded objections. the thing is that NATO knows it becomes redundant the moment Russia ceases to be. What NATO is doing is taking care that a lot of military careers do not end, first. Second, is that they are calculating tolerable levels of rape for the area they are supposed to be protecting.
Ukraine Has got to start using the F-16s , I don't understand why they haven't, unless there is a BIG plan coming, where they will all come out in force, which may be a good plan. Jonathan I was disappointed in your Catholic joke, I don’t think it matches up to your usual high standards. I trust that you will shortly redress the balance by joking about the burning of the believers of other religions (in my OP I named some of these but suspect that triggered YT’s sensitive religious hate censor!). Despite this I think Guy Fawkes’ visit showed he had more integrity than many of those who have since been within its hallowed halls.
It's not really a joke. It's literally what Bonfire Night celebrates in the UK. Maybe this was lost in translation, but 5th November in the UK is Guy Fawke's Night, where we burn effigies of Guy Fawke, a Catholic who tried to blow up the House of Parliament. My joke was sort of self-deprecating that this annually celebrated events really is a cynically a celebration whose initial impetus was about burning Catholic upstarts. Now I don't think burning Catholics is at all what we think about now of this, but it's actually the original motivation. This is an excerpt from the Catholic Herald's article "What should a Catholic make of Guy Fawkes Night?": The celebration is today a sadly degenerate affair. “A penny for the Guy” means 10p today or else! But then the grotesque dummy in a handcart was really only a way in which children could beg legitimately in the streets. And few of them could have told you who “Guy” was, and the old custom of making it an effigy of the Pope with a cardboard triple crown has long since disappeared. But there is one English town which maintains the tradition with an annual and highly organised Saturnalia. This is the town of Lewes. It is a little mysterious why the ceremony, now a great incentive to tourism and the bar trade, should so have survived. Lewes is one of the sweetest towns in England. It is built around the ruined stump of a castle on a high mound. It is handsome and prosperous and respectable, and it is the sort of place that a stranger loves on sight. One reason may be the lingering memory of the 17 Lewes martyrs. I had always taken it for granted that these were the usual Catholics. They were not. They were Protestants burned at the stake during the five-year reign of Mary Tudor. The festival, with its blazing tar barrels one of which is always thrown into the river may also have recalled pagan memories of the winter solstice and the dying of the year. But these demonstrations of anti-popery used to be common. In 18th century London there was the Green Ribbon Club which burned an effigy of the Pope on November 17, the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth Tudor’s accession. They did this at Smithfield, not far from the office of the Catholic Herald, and they put live cats inside it to make a suitable noise. This is said to have delighted the mob. The Lewes celebrations, however, were firmly working-class. They had a strong radical element, and even though they had “no popery” banners, they were demonstrations of popular radical feeling. There were agricultural riots here and machinery-breaking in 1830. Nine were hanged and 457 transported. So the bonfire night became the genuine popular festival of a totally disenfranchised people. Unpopular magistrates got knocked down. Real rioting took place. Windows were broken. In the 18th century, “a blacksmith concerned in letting off a bomb, had his thumb blown off owing to his folly in holding it while it exploded.” At one time they burnt really costly effigies of the Pope, and the restoration of the Catholic hierarchy in 1850 led to an extraordinary hysteria in England which stimulated the anti-papist nature of the demonstration. But people soon began to feel a bit foolish about going on and on about so innocent a figure who, anyway, became to be seen as a bastion against Communism. Still, in 1869, they burned an effigy of Pope Pius IX outside the Catholic chapel.
@@ATPGeo Well Jonathan, I still wouldn’t accept that Nov 5th is about burning Catholic upstarts, despite your offering the Catholic Herald article as evidence, I don’t think the Catholic Herald is an entirely unbiased source, the clue is in it’s name. I have worked at the Lewes ‘Bonfire Night’ and know it has it’s own specific traditions which have indeed been anti-Catholic but they are not typical. I actually disagree with you (an unusual and uncomfortable feeling in itself), that the origin of the festival was about burning Catholics, I believe it was about burning Guy Fawkes who was seen as a symbol tof those who challenged the establishment and, because he and his co-conspirators were Catholic, this connection was used to whip up hatred against Catholics whenever that was deemed politically desirable. I think if you asked at any Bonfire Night celebration and asked what it was about you wouldn't get the answer “Burning Catholics”, It’s about burning poor old Guy Fawkes who some see as a failed heroic anti-establishment/government figure. Also of course it continues or supports the ancient cycle of seasons tradition by lighting communal symbolic fires. I still think making a joke of burning Catholics, Cathars or anyone else, rather poor taste but it was only my comment and I do not want to attempt to control ATP's personal taste!

Many of the missiles may have been lost when Ukraine hit the large ammo dumps
Appreciate the update buddy!
Ukraine Has got to start using the F-16s , I don't understand why they haven't, unless there is a BIG plan coming, where they will all come out in force, which may be a good plan. Just getting frustrated with the lack of use, or reporting of it, which also could be in the plan, I just don't like the way the Rus keeps taking land for what's to come in the near future

Whats wrong with Catholics, this one supports your channel and Ukraine, and a bloody catholic, from Canada it souns like a slam?
This is an excerpt from the Catholic Herald's article "What should a Catholic make of Guy Fawkes Night?":
The celebration is today a sadly degenerate affair.
In the 18th century, “a blacksmith concerned in letting off a bomb, had his thumb blown off owing to his folly in holding it while it exploded.”
At one time they burnt really costly effigies of the Pope, and the restoration of the Catholic hierarchy in 1850 led to an extraordinary hysteria in England which stimulated the anti-papist nature of the demonstration. But people soon began to feel a bit foolish about going on and on about so innocent a figure who, anyway, became to be seen as a bastion against Communism. Still, in 1869, they burned an effigy of Pope Pius IX outside the Catholic chapel.

Well Jonathan, I still wouldn’t accept that Nov 5th is about burning Catholic upstarts, despite your offering the Catholic Herald article as evidence, I don’t think the Catholic Herald is an entirely unbiased source, the clue is in it’s name.
Jonathan, you screwed up in joking about burning Catholics on Guy Fawkes day. Be a man, apologize, and remove the comment from your podcast.
I think either you are a dreamer or a lier.
