Bangladesh arrests a former ISKCON priest Chinmoy Krishna Das on charges of sedition. It has sparked countrywide protests by the Hindus and also drawn worldwide condemnation. Founded by Swami Prabhupada in 1966 in New York City, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, or Iskcon as it is popularly known as, is a Hindu religious organisation working to spread the holy name of Lord Krishna and teaching the lesson of self-realisation through the Bhagavad Gita. Today, Iskcon has become synonymous with the Hare Krishna Movement. It counts Apple founder Steve Jobs and The Beatles singer George Harrison as one of its many followers.
