A has-been rock star hosts horror films in his haunted mansion. Guest: The Goblin Brothers. Movie: “The Night Flier” from 1997.

In this 1997 horror film, a seasoned tabloid reporter named Richard Dees is assigned to investigate a string of grisly murders occurring at rural airfields. As he delves deeper, he discovers the eerie possibility that the elusive killer may indeed be a vampire who travels in a small aircraft. Relentless and willing to cross moral boundaries to get the story, Dees finds himself in a chilling race against time to uncover the truth before it's too late. The film explores themes of obsession, journalistic ethics, and the supernatural, with a gripping atmosphere that keeps viewers on edge.

If you are a filmmaker and need inspiration or notes on how to make a very effective movie that hits, study this movie. The casting, the writing, the pacing, the atmosphere, etc. It's all firing on all cylinders here. One of the greatest cheap movies I've ever seen.
One of my all time favorites. Mainly because my parents and sister was still alive and we all watched this on VHS in 97-98. Good memories

The conversation between hardened cynic Richard - his inside view of Inside View - and naive friendly Catherine in the bar is one of the best dialogues in film, i think. "... If you want a friend, buy a dog. ..." . Lol!

That was a bloody good yarn. I forgot how cool this flick is, so long since I've seen it. Sensational front page tabloid fodder. The National Inquire and The Star were always in the house when I was growing up, competing too, I guess.

One of my favorite on-screen Vampires ever. Absolutely love the creature design and this film ending.

For me, The Night Flier is one of the greatest Stephen King movie since between Pet Sematary and Sometimes They Come Back.

Along with Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms is one of my favorite mecha anime of 2024, such as between Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance and Bang Brave Bang Bravern. Maybe I just can't wait to see Domestic Girlfriend season 2, yeah!? @HealthHorror on the "live" episode.. they showed the same scene near the end of the movie twice. Like it went to commercial and when it came back it just replayed the pervious scene... Then it went back to the host and just ended. The movie still had about 10mins left and some big twists.
Must've just been a glitch/editing mistake on their part.

Awesome episode. The movie itself? It could have been better but it did have its good points. There actually was a Creature Features game. It was a board game that was around in the '70s. It played like Monopoly except instead of buying up real estate and companies you buy up horror movies.

Yeah, after watching the double airing of what was supposed to be the ending, my wife and I looked it up on You Tube, and found the very disturbing finale' of this movie! Holy crap! What an ending! Glad to learn the explanation of what happened and happy you guys put it back together here!

Seriously? It’s Stephen Freakin’ King! Of course I recommend the book, “Nightmares and Dreamscapes”, (1993) of which this is but one short story. I’d also specifically recommend the stories “Dolan’s Cadillac”, “The Ten O’Clock People”, “Sorry, Right Number”, and my favorite of the book, “The Moving Finger”.
This movie is like a remake of Carl Kolchack.

The original song at this time stamp is actually "Disease" by Sister Machine Gun. I have no idea why they changed it, and no clue as to the song included.
One of Vincent's old songs, "Deceased", that we had to stick in there because the other band claimed the entire video cause of that one piece of their track.

I love Stephen king movies and books second person my first person is Rl Stine
My first is Dean R Koontz. Unlike Stephen King, so is it rare that he lessen the tempo of a story by nostalgic teenage moments. Similar to King, so is he often writing about the place he lives in. What i really like, is his careful involvement of supernatural elements and the cooperation by people usually not naturally aligned ( although, Kings writing a story like that is The Stand, and that one is brilliant. )
