  • Rode this line on 1/2/22 with friends John, Lexie, and girlfriend Zoe. The approach to this line is pretty mellow and is about 3,200 vertical feet of gain. You pass Old Man's bowl and the Hippie Chutes on the way. Lexie's hip was bothering her about 1/3 of the way up and felt safe following the skin track back down to the car. The snow got firm towards the top of the Col making Zoe and I put our splitboard crampons on, but John was able to tip toe his way up on his edges. Zoe's pole broke on the way up making things a touch more interesting. The Col was pretty wind blasted from the gnarly wind events in the previous days making the snow not so great. However, the line was still enjoyable, aesthetic, and safe. Towards the bottom we took the wrong gully, making for some entertaining survival boarding. Lexie made it back to the car safely and was able to make it out to us while we were coming out on the other side of Convict Lake. This is a line I would repeat again, with hopes of better snow.
