The more I think about it the more Magellan's words to Luffy ring true. Within 24 hours, Luffy suffered through the poison, lost a dear friend (Bon Clay) at Impel Down, saw his brother murdered before him, and subsequently passed out unable to deal with the hell he was now in.
The scene where Magellan is standing in front of the door to Aces cell and keeping luffy from getting in is one of my favorites. Its one of the few scenes where the politics of One Piece is explained so well but in a "i got bad news for you" kinda way. Luffy really is just some kid trying to save his brother from a decision made by some of the most powerful people in the world. If Luffy wasn't so good at uniting people to fight with him i really think this is where he would've been finished. Magellan legit scared the shit out of me.
Magellan is one my favorite characters in One Piece but I would like to take this chance and describe how the user matters way more than the power itself. Magellan is a paramecia type and yet he is so adept at using his ability that most people mistake him for a Logia to this day. He is also the ONLY main villain of an arc that Luffy could never defeat. Also, he is the first character to display "awoken" powers, even though it's not stated, his Venom Demon state is pretty similar to what we've seen as "awoken" powers. In contrast, we have Ceasar Clown, a logia-type user who in paper seems like a definitive upgrade to Magellan's ability. Just by being a Logia he should be at a whole different tier of power and his fruit should allow him to do stuff that Magellan's could never hope to, like how he can deprive oxygen from a wide area around him, meaning he should be almost impossible to beat in drawn-out close combat or how he could turn himself into a gas to basically be almost omnipresent. And yet he is a piece of shit who got one-shotted by Luffy and then was rendered into comedic relief.
I'm pretty sure Crocodile's DF is awakened, or at least he could use it exactly like other awakened logias we have seen. So I don't think it's fair to say Magellan is the first. At least not without confirmation.

Yep! Once they broke out the level six prisoners, they confronted Magellan again and nearly killed him. None of this was ever shown though, only told to Sengoku.

Our major opponent for the Impel Down arc, and one you could truly feel sorry for with all of the chaos going on in the place that is, quite literally, "Hell on Earth" for the One Piece world. His character quirks, and his mastery over a truly intimidating Devil Fruit, endeared him to my heart in addition to making me scared of him.
I think the variety of poison he have it depends on what he eats that's why Luffy got poisoned and almost died from that Fish in the new World it's like Magellan didn't eat at that time

But it makes no difference to his power. It does give him diarrhea. Luffy did not eat any fish in Wano. Some unseen prisoner of Kaido ate the fish, and threw out the bones. That was not even Luffy doing it. Luffy is affected by all poison naturally, except for is he ever deals with Magelan again, the antidote will no longer work. For one thing, after encountering Magelan's poison once, people have LESS resistance to it, not more.

Magellan is at least as strong as an admiral. He single-handedly defended against the entire impel down escape. Literally no else even came close. None of the prison employees did anything, the vice warden got destroyed by mr 2. Magellan was a one man apocalypse, he would've killed Luffy with no fuss if not for a miracle. Someone with the exact power to heal him happened to be there. When Kizaru attacked the super nova he also destroyed everyone. However, he let a lot of them escape and he had the help of multiple marine warships, Kuma bots, and Kuma himself. Magellan had to beat the strongest prisoners of impel down by him self, black beard crew , plus multiple warlords of the sea. It was not a fair fight at all yet he still did an amazing job. The only people who could do as well as he did would be another admiral.
imagine venom fruit was eaten by someone who didnt eat the poison, they would easily be yonko level considering 1 hit from the fruit that isn't blocked by haki is fatal

That was not even Luffy doing it. Luffy is affected by all poison naturally, except for is he ever deals with Magelan again, the antidote will no longer work. For one thing, after encountering Magelan's poison once, people have LESS resistance to it, not more.

Magellan and his devil fruit were wasted potential I loved the impel down arc it was so interesting with the sadist torture guards and the jailer beast.
Let's be honest Shiryu's release was not Magellan's only bad decision, not making sure that the Blackbeard pirates were completely dead was his worst.
Magellan was the most terrifying villain in one piece, luffy literally had no chance of beating this guy.
To this day, I am still slightly disturbed by Magellan's (and a few other characters', for that matter) strangely small legs.

Magellan is at least as strong as an admiral. He single-handedly defended against the entire impel down escape. Literally no else even came close. None of the prison employees did anything, the vice warden got destroyed by mr 2. Magellan was a one man apocalypse, he would've killed Luffy with no fuss if not for a miracle. Someone with the exact power to heal him happened to be there. When Kizaru attacked the super nova he also destroyed everyone. However, he let a lot of them escape and he had the help of multiple marine warships, Kuma bots, and Kuma himself. Magellan had to beat the strongest prisoners of impel down by him self, black beard crew , plus multiple warlords of the sea. It was not a fair fight at all yet he still did an amazing job. The only people who could do as well as he did would be another admiral.
imagine venom fruit was eaten by someone who didnt eat the poison, they would easily be yonko level considering 1 hit from the fruit that isn't blocked by haki is fatal
