So creepy damn yay I remembered this film in the 90's nobody can create again this version remarkably & astonishingly outstanding thank you for sharing😍👍👌👏👏👏👏
Started reading the book a week ago and so far this movie is the same as the book right down to Dracula's hair missing at the temples. However, he does have a mustouche in the book. . . . . Coincidently, Bram Stoker died 100 years ago today - 20th April 1912 and came from my hometown, Dublin, Ireland. Proud to have him as an Irishman whose work is known the world over! . . . Great movie by the way. Gary Oldman really nails Dracula!
Still the best Dracula film and will always be one of my favourite films.. I remember seeing this when it came out in the cinema and it has such great memories attached to when I seen it with friends.
Imagine if other people answered mundane questions the way Dracula did. "Sir, do you think these stocks will increase enough in value over the next five years?" "Fate is what unites every man to his one truth." "Uh, we're talking about the stock market, sir." "...And time makes a mockery of our mightiest achievements..."
One thing i cant stand is stupid people s idiotic comments. I will not even compare this movie with other vampire shits out there. This movie is so majestic that niothing comes close. Garry Oldman s performance one of the best that world has ever seen.
What hairy palms Dracula has...I have read the book so I know they're supposed to be hairy, but watching this movie again recently, I can't help but think, four centuries living in a castle with three women, Dracula can't be THAT lonely...
@@Andyscobie I saw this when it came out - the marketing for it was as a sort of Dracula version for Generation X, and this was in part why Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder were in it.
This scene nails it for me. I wrote Dracula's words on a card, the ones he speaks once he see's Mina's picture. I had this kind of love. Destiny. He died, and at best, my life is misery.
To be fair, though, Keanu himself knew he was awful - if you watch interviews with him, he's the worst critic of his performance here. He was at the height of his popularity in 1992, had been doing movies back to back, and despite working with a dialogue coach, just didn't have time to master the English accent. He was crap and he knew it, but to his credit, he kept going annd did what he could with what he had (which he admits himself, wasn't much) If you watch Much Ado About Nothing, filmed 13 months later, where he again had to do an English accent, his accent is much better as he had time to master it.
Always thought Jonathan Harker was quite the card board character even in the book. I feel that Keanu played him perfectly. Now if his acting like that was on purpose, cool but if not, damn.
He created the film using artistic talents, amazing use of light tricks like the shadows doing different things to the ones who cast them, invoking imagery like blood red sundowns - no CGI no need for CGI.
If you just started reading the book, then I suggest you read on. You will soon discover that this movie becomes nothing like the book. There is no love story between Mina Harker and Dracula at all. All of the Mina/Dracula scenes in this movie are an invention of the filmmakers and are nowhere in Bram Stoker's novel. The truth is, Dracula is not the protagonist of Bram Stoker's book any more than Jay Gatsby is the protagonist of The Great Gatsby. The book is about Jonathan and Mina, not Dracula.
0:28 Coppola has his shadow pose like that because it is the spitting image of Europe turned 90 degrees clockwise. Look on the map, the roads make it look like he’s holding a sickle (which is digging into the skull) and wings coming off the back. Europe IS a titanic winged Dracula of sorts. He holds a sickle (“Sicily”, which he’s used to dig into the skull that is Africa), and he has a wing, upon which rests the UK and IREland. The sickle was used to harvest the grapes (wine, veno, vine, VEINS...) and transplant those BLOOD CELLS to The east coast of North America...the Appalachian Mountains are named after the grapes...(see “appellation”).
Do you believe in destiny? That even the powers of time can be altered for a single purpose? That the luckiest man who walks on this earth is the one who finds... true love? (L)
@Shyguy825 Do your research! Gary Oldman worked for months to get the accent correct fr the region from which count Dracula comes. Oldman is Britain's finest and most hard-working and intelligent actor.
I've read somewhere that Coppola originally wanted Johnny Depp for the role of Jonathan. Can you imagine how different scenes like this would have been if he actually got to cast who he wanted?
Depp might have been a better choice but he would've been panned for his accent. His "London" accent in From Hell was terrible. Unlike the King of Accents Oldman, some actors just don't have it in them.

One of the best Dracula movies ever made, the older ones are good but Bram Stoker's is my favorite..
For those that have not yet read Brams Stokers novel this is its most faithful adaptation. One of Coppola’s most under rated master pieces.
Gary Oldman is magic in so many movies but this and León the professional are his finest hours
