The long corridors but poor sightlines combo would be perfect in a horror game, too: you could hear staff long before you see them, and since corridor intersections are kinda rare, changing paths to get away from them is a pretty big undertaking. - There's not a lot of vertical information (e.g. big price signs hanging from the ceiling, pillars painted red to draw attention to cheap products, pictures of products, etc) so the map feels kinda barren and lifeless. Having this stuff could help adding more landmarks so it's easier to tell where you've been, too. - EVERY intersection should have an arrow on the floor. They don't need to point to anything in particular. - The exit cafeteria always has HUGE advertisements of the 50-cent hot dogs to build up customers' anticipation while they're queueing. Having something like this should make it a lot easier to find cafeterias. - On that topic, IRL dehydration is a bigger issue than starvation, so being able to drink from bathroom sinks to refill a bit of hunger could help balance the game (perhaps sinks make a "no water left" squeak noise after you've drunken from them once to prevent farming them, and they reset daily too?) - Having navigation signs here and there which point towards different points of interest (based on level data) should make the "find stuff" bit easier. They don't need to be particularly accurate, of course. - Staff areas typically have locked doors to access them (and routes that see a lot of goods traffic have massive bulkhead doors that are usually hidden behind curtains on the customer side), both these things could be fun gameplay twists (it's harder to get into staff areas, but they're a convenient way to get around since they connect to a lot of places) - There's no price tags on any of the items. Having them just to add clutter would do a lot for immersion (they don't need to make sense).
None of the locations from the actual SCP article are here either. Honestly, this is extremely lackluster compared to what a well designed SCP-3008 game could be. don't listen to this guy, i'm swedish. go to ikea right now. browse. consume. obey.
This is why I can't hate mondays.
I hear “I ... hate Monday’s”
I REQUIRE LASAGNA
I thought this would be just him, going to IKEA, and now I'm *very* dissapointed.
He already did that, on laybuh day
Just got a TBA on Steam! Glad to see the dev is still building on the cool systems
I can't wait for speedruns of this
'Oh hey I guess it's nighttime'
*proceeds to smash every nearby light, plunging him into darkness*
The fuck man
Who knew Ikea had different biomes!
I hope this opens Vinny up to more SCP related games in the coming month, especially the Containment Breach games and the Multiplayer one.
True realism is that it takes longer for the phone to run below 100% battery than it takes for a person to starve to death
Basically this is just vinny going to ikea while SCP-3008-2 is Chat with Covid trying to follow vinny...
And now, on this season of Vinesauce: Ikeasauce
I agree with the chat members here, the hunger mechanic is annoying in a very tackled on way.
I NEED TO GO TO IKEA
Some sort of algomusic background song playing infinitely that's different every time and a random sign generator that combines phrases and words with designs and colour pallets would be great to make everything seem different
31:51 I don't think I've ever seen Vinny scream from getting jumpscared before.
Vinny being stuck in Joel's Furniture Labyrinth of Doom
This is legitimately something that goes through my head in ikeas. I hate that i can stand somewhere, look around in every direction, and be unable to see any kind of back wall. It literally feels like being trapped in a labyrinth, and every trip I am dragged on feels like a constant struggle against having a panic attack. Idk why it's so uniquely terrifying
Purgatory is furnished entirely by ikea.
Ah yes, I too would pass away immediately if I went less than half a day without eating.
Definitely need to tone that back a bit, it's more harsh than the hunger and water mechanics in 7 Days to Die!
Disappointing that he didn't realize that sprinting was causing his food to drain so quickly. If he treated it as a last resort and not his default mode of movement he might've lasted for a lot longer.
16:46 rest before is pointless dying of hunger before this
I've spent the afternoon playing this game.
Spear is OP
Outlets recharge your phone
* Is starving to death *
Vinny: Let me just break all of these chairs real quick.
Vinesauce scary peepee
I hope this comment is preserved for future generations to meditate on, amazing work Adam Sandler Chair
i want this on a shirt
i'll probably put this on a frame.
I cant believe that they made the Ikea from this game into a real store :O
I have non-diabetic fasting hypoglycemia, so I’m not saying I ever died in an endless ikea from lack of food, but I do always carry a granola bar on me for incase it ever happens
There should be an option to remove the hunger meter
This game needs more food placed around. I'd be fuckin infuriated playing this for more than like five minutes.
Moral of the story: Don't go to IKEA on a friday.
I want this to be a series I feel like he will get good at this game.
First time I've seen Pipewrench actually get scared
The Dev: People die if they don't eat after 4 hours right?
I think a stamina meter would work better, or do put more food around and do what Minecraft does, as long as you don't run you won't run out very quick.
The visuals are super impressive, the hunger mechanic, not so much.
Joel traps Vinny in an ikea
*One day I avoided LIDL...*
typical video game logic, starving = death within 1 minute.
Anyone notice the thing that popped up near the bottom right at 3:13?
This looks like it has a ton of potential
Yes!!! I was just talking the other day about how SCP-3008 would make for a great video game!
Game has really good potential. Would love to see more of it. If the developer tweaks a couple things I would be addicted to this.
I think I remember sprint in this game eating through your food bar a lot faster compared to walking.
I tought vinny was going to do a live tour of the infinite ikea but this is good too
me: "mum can I make a Dr. Coomer reference"
mum: "we have Dr. Coomer at home"
the Dr. Coomer at home: 21:19
Q: What do you say if someone is about to die in IKEA?
A: I kill ya
Thanks for live streaming your visit to Ikea Vinny
Welcome to the world of Spaghetti Calzone Pizza.
So literal pizza pasta?
The foundation is now just pizza crusts.
All V class personnel are disposable.
I feel like this could be a good ‘Cube’ like movie.
If you’d just follow me, it’s time to administer the Class-C amnestic
I actually tensed and jumped so hard when the staff attacked Vinny in bed that I cramped my neck
Please play more of this. It’s very interesting to me
I'd love a series of this
this game is criminally well made for what the concept is
In this episode Blinyot visits his penpal Jorgel but gets lost on his way from the Airport
This hunger mechanic is so scuffed.
3:51, the sound of a man who's chat is screaming "Oh God why?!" And all he can do is just roll his trolley into oblivion
the rare food courts and the fast draining of the hunger completely take you out of the environment and you grow from being scared to frusturated. no horror game should EVER make a player frustrated. If it does, it's a bad horror game.
Kinda weird that you can find the corners of the Infinite Ikea...
19:26 funniest shit ever
can someone confirm if fridges can be broken to get food? Vinny only gave them one chance using the rod that can't break items.
This is a metaphor for when you find out the table is missing a leg and have to go all the way back to the store
legs are sold separately though so that is on you
Yesssssss you finally played it
This game does what it does well. Wouldn't mind to see more of binyot getting lost in IKEA.
I wish someone would make a gamemode and map like this for gmod
throughout all the times that i've been in an ikea, i never got lost
I'm usually lost within like 60 seconds honestly. My sense of direction goes out the window as soon as i lose sight of the entrance.
The sudden switch to night made me shit into the toilet I was watching this on
youtuber "Lord Bung" makes animations based on SCP creatures and encounters, and he made an animation based on this very SCP, anybody reading this should check it out, he writes really, really good stories
