This is fantastic! Thanks again for another great video. I think my wife will love this, which is fantastic because it gives me some additional basis for needing a homelab!!
Thanks DB Tech for this video. The big disadvantage of this application is that there is no login option. When you open this application to the internet, anyone can add recipes to it. The application itself looks promising.
Could you review the latest version of Mealie which is using Postgress DB ? I'm getting error trying to login to GUI - "POST /api/auth/token HTTP/1.1" 401
Trying this now and hoping it's compatible with a magic mirror I want to build and put in my kitchen in a few months (wife won't cook without recipes and me prepping, and I'm tired of being the chef so I'm hoping to make us both happy!). Mainly commenting to say it's interesting how much the docker compose file has changed since you posted this 7 monthsish ago. Getting a lot of deprecated warnings omitted notifications though, so I wonder if there are a lot of upcoming changes that might break things.
Maybe a stupid question, but what server are you SSHing into to install the docker image? I'm using OMV with Docker/Portainer and am unfamiliar with installing a docker image manually in this situation. Should I just ssh into my OMV server and follow your instructions from there? Thanks!
Looks really good. Thanks! I need something like this for my recipes. Unfortunately, my hundreds of recipes are save as PDFs. I'd have to figure out how to import them. One question: your volume location ./mealie/data/:/app/data will store the data on the boot disk?
This is incredible! What I need to know is if there is ANY way to add ingredient databases (for those of us who are vegetarian, Keto, Carnivore, or anything else)? A lot of times we have to replace ingredients (and being able to add conversion tables, weights/measures for our ingredients would be SUPER helpful. :-D
@@DBTechYT I was referring to the earlier conversation ... Zach Lollar: I’m getting error's will this not run in docker on a PI4? You: Nope. Only desktop. @@333Round Just got this up and running on a pi4 with no issues. I'm using docker-compose and macvlan networking. Glad you went with sqlite, I've had major issues with mongo on pi.
Thanks, this is really a promising program! I have a problem though. I tried to install this on several devices, but I can't get it to work. When I try to upload my own recipe with picture I get an internal server error. It is possible to pull a recipe from a website though.. Somebody else have this problem too?
I hadn't tried adding a manual recipe until I saw this comment. Just tried from my phone and after I click the save icon, the recipe is lost. It doesn't save. I can try from desktop later.
Hello DB Tech. Thanks for the great video! It got me interested if there are any alternatives while mealie is getting developed. I found vabene1111/recipes but since it needs a .env file as well as a docker-compose.yml I think I'm having difficulty with getting it working. When I try to access running the container I always get server error (500). I would appreciate if you could make a video on how to use .env files alongside docker-compose.yml. Keep safe!
Hey , thanks for your videos I learned a lot through them. I have a raspberry 4 and installed openmediavault and portainer on it. Now I try to make a webserver with the container on portainer with the webserver nginx or apache [the idea was to use MySQL and php and Wordpress on those webservers] but I couldn't get it working. I could ony download the templates httpd and nginx and I was able to access those website with another computer but i wasn't able to put websites on those webservers. So I really need your help. I also used the macVlan as you described, because I wanted to have own Ip-addresses for the webservers. that was easy to implement due to your good videos. It would be really awesome if you could make a video, with the title for example : how to put php and MysSQL and wordpress on an self hostet webserver (nginx/ apache2) that I host on my container on portainer with an own Ip address, that I made with MacVlan)
Thanks, your two year old video helped me get mealie running on my home server without any problems!

This looks awesome! Have set quite a few things up the last 24 hours thanks to your video guides. Can’t wait to add this!
I love these docker reviews there's so much out there

They're working on logins and that sort of thing. Check out the conversations over on the github page
This looks great! Love how easy it looks to add recipes from links like that. Very cool!
It's such a cool application! Thanks for stopping by ;)
Just set this up today and it's working great, I can't believe how well the website scraping works; to cool!

Any chance you can look at Wallabag?
anyone got a link list for a huge import or several recipes at once ?
thanks for the demo and info, now I am hungry lol
Just installed it via Docker Desktop. Trying to figure out how to add users so my roommates can jump on

I guess I should have just gone ahead and tried it. Seemed to work fine, shows up in Container list as you showed. Thanks for the great instructions.
Awesome! Glad you got it sorted!!
Looks like some good software! I really like your tutorial videos!
Thx for sharing, that is a program I don't now that I want to have right now. It is that kind of program what a lazy person like me need.
Thanks for watching!

It'll store it in the folder where you downloaded the github repository unless you change the path. You can store your volume wherever you want though

This is still in early stages of development, so you might reach out to the developer and talk to them about these features.
Love this idea. Going to try this one. 👍👌
Thank you for the video, I find so many of them informational. Any chance you'll do an updated version and show how to install this with sql?
Probably not since it was designed to work with Mongo. The developers are actively working on the project, so maybe you can talk to them about it.
I've just tried to install the sql version in portainer and can't get it to work :( I'll have to just keep trying as it's such a good app
I would like to request a video about Aria2 and Podsync on Raspberry pi playlist.
I love your content!
Thanks!
Its possible to add or upload scanned Recipe?
Yes, you can.
Your 3 years old video.. help me today to bring this app for a demo. Thanks a lot !!!!
How can you access it via a mobile phone or tablet?
open it in a browser just like you would on your computer
I tried to follow along on my Raspberry Pi 4gb, but it dies demanding amd64 versions of, I think, python-pip and python-dev. Any advice?
Never mind. I looked farther down in the comments. I'll wait for the docker version.
This is the docker version. It doesn't work on pi devices

This project is awesome! I work for Docker in DevRel and I want to use this for demos, can I get your permission? Full credit will be given.
Thanks for asking. If you want to use the video for demos, that's fine. I would just ask that you use the original URL so I get credit for the views
@@DBTechYTSorry, I should've been more specific. I meant that I want to use your Mealie project for my own demos, not your videos.
Oh. This isn't my project. I just make videos about how to install and use different Docker projects.
