It's just a matter of opinion. I don't think any boyfriend would out right tell their girlfriend that they hate their hair. I could only think of someone doing that if they're joking.
I had a boyfriend who was mad at me for dying or even cutting my hair. If i visited him with a new look, he was very mad. Since women need to have long natural hair in order to look more female.

I'm black and wear my hair variety of different style; many types braids, my natural hair curled, my natural hair flat ironed, my natural hair wet, and my natural hair in an afro, sometimes hair extensions and turns out my partner likes my hair in an natural afro. Hopefully he said his opinion nicely like mine did. I wear my hair however I like regardless it doesn't make me any less beautiful to him, my family, or myself.
