    To those mad Hikaru is playing low rated players: anyone who is a MASTER of their craft does this in various form.
    What exactly is he doing?
    1. Practicing fundamentals. What moves do more lower rated players make? Fundamental mistakes. So catching people slipping on their technique helps solidify his fundamentals WHILE ALSO
    2. Teaching/coaching newbies (bc every time I lose, I review the game and pay respect to my opponents intelligence and self coach)
    What do artists do? Practice lines and shapes and forms and colors.
    What do tennis players do? Practice basic groundstrokes.
    This is why we are watching Hikaru and not you or I.

    Bad advice in the beginning... you can become a GM if you start in your 20's, but the odds are stacked against you and it's very rare. Nevertheless, it's 100% been done before.

  • @alphaalpha7591
    @alphaalpha7591 2 года назад

    I don't necessarily agree that you can't become a GM if you start at 20. A person can do a lot of things if they work hard and are motivated enough. I am 20 right now and I was rated 1000 in blitz, but after 8-10 months I became 1500 just by playing casually while working 10 hours a day + university studies. I believe if I played chess all day and made it my whole career, I can become a GM by 25, at the most 30, let alone trying my whole life

    • @acidreflex25
      @acidreflex25 2 года назад +1

      You have to keep in mind though, the rating climb starts to slow exponentially when you get to around 1800. 1000 to 1500 is nothing compared to going from 1800 to 1900. The latter can take years.

    • @alphaalpha7591
      @alphaalpha7591 2 года назад

      @@acidreflex25 I understand, but saying there is no chance to become a GM after starting at 20, even if you spend decades playing chess is a stretch, I'm sure if you're motivated enough and you work hard you can achieve it

    • @CodeAlpaca
      @CodeAlpaca 2 года назад +1

      @@alphaalpha7591 Sergey Karjakin took 7 years to become a gm and you just casually say "I can become a GM by 25" It is possible to become a GM in your 20s, but don't disrespect other GMs and say you could do it in 5 years

    • @alphaalpha7591
      @alphaalpha7591 2 года назад

      @@CodeAlpaca First of all, Karjakin became a GM when he was 12 so get your facts straight, playing chess as a young boy is different than studying chess all day with computer moves and endless practice. What I'm saying is it's not impossible. Are you suggesting that if you start playing chess at 20 then you will never become a GM, even if you try for decades, even after 20 or 30 years?

    • @kaleidoscope942
