My husband, who is a pastor now, got sexually abused as a kid. Grateful for therapy! I was raised as a protected pastor's kid and never understood the value of therapy and kinda judged people who needed therapy until I met my husband. Boy, I just had no clue!
So true about finding the deeper issues and exposing thinking patterns that are wrong. I'm so grateful for therapists and hope it becomes normal for churches to talk about this and offer professional help.

Amen, Amen! I agree with you 100%. In 2019 I had a miscarriage and when that lead to a suicidal thought, I knew I needed someone to talk to. I feel, I was spiritually lead to my therapist. I needed a therapist that could include my spiritual side into our sessions. She happens to be a co-pastor of a church/licensed therapist! I'm now pregnant with our 6th child/1st daughter. And this has brought up a lot of fear for my daughter from my own past traumas that I thought I had handle on my own. No one close to me (mom/dad/husband) could understand why I couldn't just be happy even though they knew the reasons for my fear. So after breaking down and sharing my trauma with my therapist. She was able to relate on a personal level, validate my fears and concerns, help me start the process of healing, all while reminding my of God's promises in my life.
No one should ever feel ashamed or be shamed for seeking counseling or medication for mental and emotional issues. I'm sure no one told you to just walk off that knee pain, to just stop worrying about it, or just pray about it more. Mental health shouldn't be any different. Thank you Ruslan, for this video. ❤

I agree Ruslan. I felt lead to share a testimony...
Before I got saved I had 2 abortions, some time went past and I got saved. Then a sister in Christ dreamt of me, manifesting. And that demons name was Murder. When she told me her dream, immediately I was reminded of those abortions.
So I had to repent for murder, and get delivered. Actually have murder cast out.
Therapy is extremely beneficial, particularly if it's biblically based.
I felt lead to share that testimony, after prayer this morning. It may help someone.

Excellent!! A good therapist helps you find your way to why you make choices that are often self defeating and self-negating (despite the Holy Spirit in our lives)....and will do it in alignment with our core beliefs. For years I exhausted myself in service (and depression) as I focused on "seeing others as better than myself". It was a therapist who reminded me to "love your neighbour as yourself" and how much my "worth" was tied up in what I gave out.....unable to receive. Co-dependant in a nutshell, but that was the way I was raised - your worth was measured by your work/education etc....and it was never enough so even my interpretation of scripture came through that lens and the "I can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens me", which gave me no escuse for failure. Thank GOD that He allowed me to hit a bottom that forced me into therapy. It's taken years (and yes, a little medication), but today I KNOW in the depths if my knowing, that I am LOVED by my Lord - no matter how imperfect I am; no matter how many times I slip up in my walk with Him....He ALWAYS has my back..

Ruslan, I am in my 58th year and am Hoping deeply that I find a Christian Counselor here in my City in Northern Ireland. I had childhood traumas, school trauma, social group trauma, a parent that never acknowledged their trauma and their responsibilities to family and God to get Therapy/ extended Prayer Ministry for it, workplace trauma. I am not exaggerating as I know now mid-July 2024 that I have to stop and find someone to help. The hard part is my Church and Churches where I live across the ocean do not have the facilities that your Church has. This is not my judgement of them, it is what it is.
How I dealt with all this was several physical pursuits to keep me above water so to speak. The regular movement and exercise came to a dramatic reduction of activity when it was discovered I was bone-on-bone in 2012. I did the best I could do to maintain movement, and JESUS quietly helped me by dramatically reducing the intense pain of bone-on-bone knees. The part that I did not expect was in November 2014, my pain spread throughout my body and my Church and the NHS simply did not have the resources to come alongside me immediately to deal with the root issues that caused one area of pain to become chronic pain. I stayed in Work until the end of June and now have a generous redundancy payment to take the time to find someone (HOLY SPIRIT, HELP) to sort out the entangled and enmeshed reactions that occur in my brain before I can cast them at the feet of JESUS. Thanks for Sharing your life story until now and the Therapies and Activity you did to achieve freedom in areas that help you now. God Bless All x!

Eventually I studied enough and learned enough to know the real truth but I am sure there are many out there that are being subjected to this verse being taken out of context and used on them as well.

@RUSLAN KD, (catching up on ruslan day) anyways, a sincere thank you for doing your part in de-stigmatizing issues in mental health. Many churches pray and speak about cancer, back pain, and arthritis but rarely do they speak on mental health. And when they do, ur right, they spiritualize it; only making those who suffer with it much worse after prayers and casting out demons didn’t help Thx again

I was really depressed going to church and reading the Bible , and majority of what was prescribed to me was “Your depressed because of your sin, or because you are not putting Christ first, or God is enough be satisfied in him alone, or glorify God in your depression” and not seek medical or counseling. Which as a by product has made me numb to Christianity, like I don’t hold any resentment at this point but don’t really care for the things of God because I didn’t think God cared for the things of me. Preferably a therapist who is Christian, or of any faith - in my experience even people of other religion's are able to give me better spiritual advice than when I had an atheist as my therapist. After a church like that you need therapy. I agree with you, go to therapy but if it goes against the Word of God, reject it. I worked for a mental health facility for three years. There are those who are possessed but most people are lonely. They need someone to talk to and hear and understand their problems. We have a problem doing that in our world. We need to be as loving toward others as Jesus is. He wants to love us and we want to be judgmental and punish others. If you need someone to talk out your problems and give you constructive, Biblical advice on how to deal with them, I think it's a good thing.

Medication helps with true chemical imbalances, which can be genetic or as a side effect of long term drug abuse (illegal or prescribed). That's why its why we can't demand God heal us the way WE want rather than seeking wisdom and following suggestions like this.
