Wolfmen riding on Wargs? How perverse, they're practically the same thing! What doomed the Warg species to nothing but mere mounts for their bipedal kin? Or is it a kink-thing?
During an early Flophouse stream when he took chat questions Me: I bought Lords of Shadow 2 because of you (it was super cheap at the time and a reference to Matt and Liam facing LORD POG and LORD PIZZA) Matt: I'm sorry to hear that.
I genuinely quite enjoy this game. The art direction and music are amazing, and the dialogue and story aren't that great but the voice actors are great and they do quite a bit to elevate the game. Even Lords of Shadow 2 can be enjoyable. Really the main problem is the futuristic parts, when you're in the castle the game is really good.
It's fine. A game can be good on its own merits even if it shed a bit more of its identity than people expected. After all, I play the classicvanias for their tense and deliberate platforming while I go to the IGAvanias for the exploration and atmosphere, so I'm sure I'd find something to enjoy in this sub-series as well.
@@CrimsonMoonM I'm just a big fan of Castlevania and the hack n slash genre. When I saw these games when they released, my jaw dropped. Yeah, they have their own issues and stuff, but I don't mind. I do kinda like the idea of a Belmont as Dracula. Pretty neato.
Hell yeah, I love this game! I love the adventure and story you go through. And holy shit, that is the Nightcall howl!!! And a GlitterWølf montage !? Matt, you're the best!
lol editor, i see you stylin'~ but i actually really enjoyed this reimagining of castlevania (that includes los2 with the after hours rat rave and dragonbutt satan). the concepts and art design was just amaze. i got the artbook (it encompasses all three games) and i have no rugrats about the purchase
I just finished re-watching your Lament of Innocence LP yesterday and was thinking about how I don't know almost anything about this game but would really like to see you play it, and now here we are!
The first Lords of Shadow is actually a great game! Easily the best 3D Castlevania ever made (and also the best selling in franchise history). Too bad the sequels never got to be as good as this.
This game is like God of war (the original ones, not the ps4 "reboot") but with an actual interesting story, art direction and a likeable (and tragic) protagonist that's more than just an angry man who screams ZEUS.
I didn’t care for the giant, Shadow of the Colossus style bosses, but the core combat I really enjoy. Aesthetic and art style is a bit all over the place for me. When you get to the more gothic areas with the vampires, it’s great, but the opening part feels more like generic fantasy, didn’t initially scream Castlevania. Overall though I really enjoy it
YEAH LORDS OF SHADOW 1!!! I love this game. The first time i saw it, i was dissapointed by the fact that it was mostly a character action game and i wasn't even a big fan of the classic castlevania games. Plus the first levels, while not being bad, felt a bit rushed and disconnected. But when i gave the game another chance and actually played it, i started really liking it. The combat is super satisfying, the Artstyle is great and i just love Patrick Stewarts voice (to be fair: he could be reading ads all day and i would still be listening). Played it first on the PS3 and then again on PC a year ago, this time with both dlcs. Still a geat game, too bad that the second one was such a letdown, especially since it has some cool moments and ideas.
"Alright, here comes a montage" *music starts up* Me: Ok, gonna be the montage song from Team America, of course. *Song turns out to be Run With Us* Me: Raccoons theme song? FUCK YEAH!
when you mentioned the nasty hands I thought God of war 2 and legend of zelda also the weapon upgrades are actually Gabriel sealing their souls in the whipcross
Godddd I remember playing this game and being so excited about it and during it. I love the art direction and fighting style, and some of the concept art had enemies like Slogryn (my favorite booboo monster baby) and the like. It is a solid game, with flaws and I'll always enjoy it. I super hope someday they take that tome and animated moveset thing and use it elsewhere, it's gorgeous. But hey I'm biased, I love CV anything bad or good. Also holy shit the montages are good a+ more pls.
The Swamp Thing show was generally good, at times amazing. the makeup is incredible, but overall its pretty silly, and if you're a fan of the Alan Moore run, the show and it's cancellation can feel like a mega dick tease. Worth a watch.
Tbh, Lords of Shadow saga (all three games) is my fave version of Castlevania, granted there are flaws and things could've been handled better (looking at you , Enric). While i'm not deep on the classic Castlevania, i grew up with the Lords of Shadow take on the lore and still love it to this day. Wonder if Konami will put this on Switch with the other CV games? Hope Matt touches on the other Castlevania Lords of Shadow games; Mirror of Fate HD and Lords of Shadow 2 as well.
The Lords of Shadow trilogy feels like someone tried making a film adaptation of Castlevania, and then decided at the last minute to make it a video game instead of movies.
Hey Matt, long time fan, first time commentor, please please please make this a full LP. Lords of Shadow is unironically one of my favorite games, and I love seeing your commentary on it. You really should have released this on Halloween, while it's not scary, it's certainy incredibly Halloween-y (with a large dose of lord of the rings stuff too). I can't wait to see how you react when you ride the giant eagle. Please, please, please keep going with this game. Also- I think the game is specifically supposed to take place in Transylvania, like all castlevania games.
Hey Matt, So I always thing of Yggdrasil in parts to help me pronounce it: Ygg- like fig but a yee sound instead of the f sound dra- like the first half of dragon sil- like a window sill Maybe that will help
The second game should have actually just been the DS title. The idea of playing as the children and grandchildren of the character from this game and killing him would have been great if they gave that idea a budget. I don't even remember what the main console sequel was about
MercurySteam is underappreciated as far as developers go. Konami having their head wedged so far up their own ass when it comes to games they could be publishing via talented developers like MercurySteam is a crying shame.
Wait what?!? Was that the friggin' The Raccoons cartoon song?!? People remember that show xD I loved that when I was a kid. Also, I need to play them games eventualy, I have both but never bothered with them
Idk, this game steals so liberally from other games and doesn't alter them enough for it to at least feel somewhat fresh...if that makes any sense? Darksiders 1 and 2 did the whole aping ideas thing better (Darksiders 3? Umm, pretty sure there are only 2 games. ONLY 2).
Robert Carlyle kills it as Gabriel in this game.
Wolfmen riding on Wargs? How perverse, they're practically the same thing!
What doomed the Warg species to nothing but mere mounts for their bipedal kin? Or is it a kink-thing?
It's like the whole "Goofy walking Pluto" thing all over again! XD
Lords of shadow made me go back to the older games and appreciate the whole franchise! Lords was fun and i have many memories!
This games art direction and gameplay is fucking great and I love normal Castlevania, it's some good stuff, seriously.
During an early Flophouse stream when he took chat questions
Me: I bought Lords of Shadow 2 because of you
(it was super cheap at the time and a reference to Matt and Liam facing LORD POG and LORD PIZZA)
Matt: I'm sorry to hear that.
I am a fan of stock sounds. That wolf howl is one of them.
I also recognize sam as the true hero instead of frodo
Wish there was a ps4 remaster of thisone. Realy loved this game
That statement can apply to so many Konami games sadly.
It’s BC with xbox if you have a one x or series system
I genuinely quite enjoy this game. The art direction and music are amazing, and the dialogue and story aren't that great but the voice actors are great and they do quite a bit to elevate the game.
Even Lords of Shadow 2 can be enjoyable. Really the main problem is the futuristic parts, when you're in the castle the game is really good.
I can't get over how they cast Patrick Stewart to play a character who looks exactly like Sean Connery.
This is what I needed. I really, really like this game and am glad to see someone I enjoy watching/listening to play through it.
I got distracted in another tab and then heard RUN WITH US and had to come back
Modern day?!
Also the sketched attack preview just made me want a side scroller in that art style.
I actually like how he became Dracula. I hate what they did to the next Belmont in Los2.
wtf Belmonts voice actor was Bigby from trainspotting?! damn. thats really cool
Hey, someone acknowledges LoS! (I like these games, don't hate me)
It's fine. A game can be good on its own merits even if it shed a bit more of its identity than people expected.

love this game, to bad i couldn't pass the stupid rock golem due to the sh*tty control mechanics on PS3
same here, buddy
Same here Los games rock
10:35 oohh man The Raccoons. I liked that show!
Hell yeah, I love this game! I love the adventure and story you go through.
And holy shit, that is the Nightcall howl!!!
And a GlitterWølf montage !? Matt, you're the best!
WOW THE POOP EMOJI NARRATES IN THIS GAME.
lol editor, i see you stylin'~
but i actually really enjoyed this reimagining of castlevania (that includes los2 with the after hours rat rave and dragonbutt satan). the concepts and art design was just amaze. i got the artbook (it encompasses all three games) and i have no rugrats about the purchase

believe it or not, this was my first castlevania since the original NES. and I loved it
Castlevania: Lords of War
The first Lords of Shadow is actually a great game! Easily the best 3D Castlevania ever made (and also the best selling in franchise history). Too bad the sequels never got to be as good as this.

I love this Castlevania trilogy. It's what introduced me to the franchise.
YES, finally I meet someone who actually likes this game like I do...I thought I was alone. Thank you
I really liked LoS. I just wished we got Castlevania music in it and not just the music box easter egg
Yeah, I think I talk about that in the next part!
this game was pretty good. underrated even. i didnt see why everyone hated it
Really enjoy this game, it’s got great music, art, voice acting, and is pretty fun to play.

This game rulez and proves that with enough thought and good ideas a game series can expand beyond its grass roots.
lol, I love it when editors put in little silly asides and stuff.
The combat cross is the sickest thing about this reboot.
"Alright, here comes a montage" *music starts up*
Me: Ok, gonna be the montage song from Team America, of course.
*Song turns out to be Run With Us*
Me: Raccoons theme song? FUCK YEAH!
I LOVED this game back in the day, more so because I had never played a God of War game.
when you mentioned the nasty hands I thought God of war 2 and legend of zelda also the weapon upgrades are actually Gabriel sealing their souls in the whipcross
>"Oh, Angel" at the end
Matt, you wonderful asshole!
The fact that always didn't play while riding the rune horse is a travesty
Hell Yea, that's a great game.
all the book¨s illustrations are amazing
Godddd I remember playing this game and being so excited about it and during it. My all time favorite game. Flaws and all
The lords of shadow games were really good to be honest
Loved LOS 1&2, mirror of fate was alright for a side scroller, it had some great moments.
Kavinsky is great. Good catch on the wolf howl
just noticed in the swamp theirs a bunch of dead giants and dragons
Tbh, Lords of Shadow saga (all three games) is my fave version of Castlevania, granted there are flaws and things could've been handled better (looking at you , Enric). PSA:
The songs are by The Raccoons, and Glitterwølf

Night Call is the BEST song in Drive. @ me.
i love these games
Hey Matt,
So I always thing of Yggdrasil in parts to help me pronounce it:
Ygg- like fig but a yee sound instead of the f sound
dra- like the first half of dragon
sil- like a window sill
Maybe that will help

FULL PLAYTHROUGH!! WE DEMANDS IT I SAYS!
oh NO
Oh this isn't LoS2 carry on
I liked LoS kinda god of war mixed with a little shadow of the colossus with castlevania setting
MercurySteam is underappreciated as far as developers go. Konami having their head wedged so far up their own ass when it comes to games they could be publishing via talented developers like MercurySteam is a crying shame.
I actually really enjoyed this game. But that call out to Kavinsky though ❤️
So we gonna just ignore how he was riding RAMPAGE from Darksiders 3???? Maybe this is where he died???
God of Warlord of Shadows of The Colossus
Is this the one where you have to truck through those green swamps? I hated that part.but a fun game
Lords of Shadow is actually one of my favorite Castlevania games. Really enjoyed how they turned the lore upside down with this game but LoS2 was bad
This was one of the best games in the ps3 era.
Heck yeah Matt! Los2 What happun confirmed? 😆
is Run With Us only a classic to Canadians? i never hear anyone outside of this country reference that goddamn awesome song.
Wait what?!? Was that the friggin' The Raccoons cartoon song?!? People remember that show xD I loved that when I was a kid.
Also, I need to play them games eventualy, I have both but never bothered with them
24:25 So pretty much just the way things are now? XD
Almost there to 200k subs!
Yggdrasil is pronounced eeg-drah-sill
I really enjoyed this game. I'm super frustrated and disappointed in how the sequel turned out, however.
Bless editor inserts lol
It was Frodo
Hey Matt, I want to ask you this. Where did you find the comic panels for the marvel Godzilla comics?
IGG-dra-sil lol (you can do it!)
Plz make this in to a full serious
You should grab some friends and play what Mercury Steam (the guys who made this game) are doing now. a really fun co-op shooter called Spacelords.
It's linear level based like the NES Castlevanias.
My biggest problem with the game was it was too long. Some of the levels, and the boss fights, really overstayed their welcome.
You're not wrong.
Awh yee lords of shadow!
Amazing game
THUMBS UP FOR KAVINSKY
I really liked this game untill they turned him into Dracula in the DLC(or after credits scene)
I kinda hated this game when I played it, honestly. I wouldn't really call myself the biggest Castlevania fan, so it's not nostalgia for the 2D ones.
I really liked Lords of Shadow and Mirror of Fate. Lords of Shadow 2 was very disappointing.
Do Clive Barker's Jericho, you coward!
love this game, to bad i couldn't pass the stupid rock golem due to the sh*tty control mechanics on PS3
Rafael Gonzalez imagine finishing this game on the hardest difficulty 😂 it’s actually painful. Hadta get all the gems first to be able to
Idk, this game steals so liberally from other games and doesn't alter them enough for it to at least feel somewhat fresh...if that makes any sense? Darksiders 1 and 2 did the whole aping ideas thing better (Darksiders 3? Umm, pretty sure there are only 2 games. ONLY 2).
