He may have changed his mind by now, but in the late '80s Brian said that the instrumental intro to "California Girls" was the finest musical composition of his career.
Brian Wilson is one amayzing man So much in his soul i wish i could be inside his mind for one minute hes a National Treasure a Geniouse beyond music and melody !! Blessings on you always Brian Thank you for Blessing us with a peice of your heart and soul
I got chills listening to the ending of Good Vibrations (a song I've listened to and broken down at least a thousand times). What a genius! If only he had kept on keeping on.
I respect his talent and his honesty. He was a great parent. The proof is in his children. Love you Brian. You are the best. So sorry you and your brothers and Al got stuck with Mike. He is the devils work.
@@minniegibson8722 he really wasn't a great parent if you've read his book and heard the stories. I absolutely love Brian but he himself has expressed regret about how bad a parent he was.
I get that some guys commenting here may have more experience in studios than I, but you listen to the ending of this, especially around 9:30 on shows that this is not a studio-produced backing track for the instrumentals. They are definitely using a click-track in their headsets. And there may be ambient sounds supporting the group; but there are enough irregular instrumental sounds to confirm this is a basically live performance.
live or not-who gives a flying f-ck??? Give a ton of credit to Brian for (1) overcoming his fear of performing and (2) writing some of the most memorable tunes of the 20th century and he's still a prolific tunesmith in the 21st century...we'll see how well all his critics can sing when they are 70 years old...Brian rocks!
@televisionlighter Actually I take what I said back. Saw him with most of this band recently in person and they were incredible. The guy in back with the hat (sorry don't know his name) in particular, seems to have spent a lot of time to get his guitar tone really 'correct' . So I stand corrected.
@johnnyzoom the guy is Nicki Wonder, the backing band is mostly the Wondermints who were a local LA band that Brian has made into the Brian Wilson band, two of the biggest talents however are Jeff Fosket and Paul von Mertens (paul is the sax. flute, bass harmonica player, and the best since we lost the guy from the Easy Street Bamd
That's like his thrown these days. He must have had a say. I was hoping he wouldn't do the mike love hand vibration thing but I think he wanted something to do with his hands.
Bri's lead vocals are live...and Bri does NOT lip-sync well at all. But as a professional engineer, I can tell you that the track and backing vocals were pre-recorded. The bands' vocal mics are 'open' and they are singing live along with the pte-record.
If I had a nickel for every time I heard "it's totally live" when it wasn't, I'd be rich. Not to sound smug, but with 40+ years' experience in audio recording (and gold records to back it up), I know when "it's totally live" and when it ain't.

Wow, just when you thought Brian Wilson couldn't have picked a worse vocalist than Mike Love - he's got these chuckleheads from some Sunday School band. The man deserves better than this.
"Can't Take That Away From Me" - boy, is Brian on point and excited to be singing a song he obviously loves.
Brian, 79, since a small child has really suffered, we are lucky to still have him 😔
Brian’s a national treasure
He’s a world wide treasure
Even back in the 60's Brian loved having a go at the old songs from the 30's & 40's. Here he once again shows what a great ear he had for a Classic.
He may have changed his mind by now, but in the late '80s Brian said that the instrumental intro to "California Girls" was the finest musical composition of his career.
I heard that intro in 1965(as a teen) and I still love to hear it.
all of the other performers were in AWE in that dudes PRESENCE !
BRIAN WILSON....FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS.....
Brian makes everyone happy
Brian was the greatest show i ever saw. You know every time i listen to him i get something new. He is a force of nature
It's nice to see Warpaint enjoying Mr. Wilson.
;-)
Go Brian, you own this song🌹
Lost so many talented musicians...Jeffrey Foskett and Nik Walusko, Rest in Peace. Scott Bennett, a huge talent who made some wrong choices.
God bless Brian Wilson!
All his solo albums are great...
Probably the best medley ever - spanning 3 generations..
Thank you Brian.

Brian Wilson is a musical genius.

I wish I'd gotta to see Brian Wilson live xx

Of his later stuff, I love his singing on the Orange Crate Art album, and the Imagination album. Some great cuts.
Saw him in 2016. Friggin amazing
Brian's wonderfully doleful and plaintive tenor voice is perfect for these songs!
Happy, that's what Brian is. This does sound real good! Thanks for posting, shantiq.
Brian looks so happy on Can't Take That Away :)
BW seems comfortable and happy, here. Golden age, imho🎉😂❤
Love his boys, ❤ Jeffrey 🎉 perfect set of three😊
A video I'll go too year after year! God willing 😀
We love that BW performed everywhere & everything - even Smile - for about 25 years. You couldn’t keep him offstage! Rest well in retirement(?) BW!
He’s just pure genius, some of his music is easily on a par with the Beatles
The Beatles, Rolling Stones, the who and the beach boys were the most important bands of the 60s along with the music of motown
Ah WRONG. The Beatles never wrote anything like Heroes and villains. Or God only knows
Some of his music is much better than the Beatles

Nick Walusko of The Wondermints - he unfortunately passed away recently
0:00 California Girls
3:05 They Can't Take That Away From Me
5:54 Good Vibrations
Just so freakin good
Iconic Band !
Just to see Brian smiling at 8.50
If only artists like Reba McIntire and Kellie Pickler could be as musically inventive as Brian!
Hes nothing like this now, really hope he makes another album......

Probyn Gregory on 2nd guitar. A phenomenal musician!
Wow Wow Wow
I can't believe they wouldn't let him sit behind his keyboard, he's definitely uncomfortable without it...

Good Vibrations live is off tap.
STRAIGHT OUT OF HAWTHORNE CALI
Go Cougars!
Cood job
Kevin Malone plays guitar???
Perhaps he had to after the breakup of Scrantonicity, and the launching of Scrantonicity II.
That baritone sax Paul Mertens plays must weigh a ton!
Is that Dave Swift on bass?
No, it's Brett Simons.
this shit aint at the Later show, put some respect on Later With Jools Holland’s name
Does anyone know who the bassist is??
Brett Simons. Currently plays with Chicago
