- So many people have asked for me to do a video for Aldershot, having seen the 'come to Farnborough' video on the gardenspoon channel. So I had just had to make this new one. Hope you like it.
I visit Aldershot quite often, and many of the things to be seen are quite amusing: It really is empty, and rough, with the most stupid looking cars, and a house that on the 9th August - had Christmas lights displayed! Aldershot is worse than even Farnborough.
However, I don't really understand why so many complain about the army presence - it is a military town after-all!!!
Also, having somewhere nearby to buy all the ingredients for curry making is just great. So stop complaining about the minorities you hypocrites! The two things that keep Aldershot in operation are the same two things that so many people seem to complain about... that's just a bit daft!

It's great finding the multi-storey empty on a Saturday afternoon, even if there are no shops left to warrant parking there, and that's why you'd mad not to move to Aldershot.
Do like to moan about squaddies getting drunk and fighting; because if you do it'd make sense to move to a military town. Are you an racist that likes a curry... bingo; you've got everything you could possibly want!!

You know, whenever people ask me about Aldershot I reference this video EVERY TIME. Wish this would play on megaspeakers in the town centre on a loop.

Aldershot might be rough but I still love the town.. it's a lot better than living in a posh town where everyone is stuck up and thinks there better than everyone else!!

Little funding also applies to those schools.
Unfortunately being an army town ,other local towns were more appealing to invest in during the 80's and 90's.
The Nepalese have brought a feeling of community to the town,change is happening slowly small local businesses are starting up ,the future is hopeful

@@jermaine___ I don’t actually know. I’m in Farnborough but I think they’re are still army housing but since those video Aldershot had got a lot worse. Especially with Covid. Walking through the high street there is about 10% of the shops open, the rest are boarded up

I do not recommend walking late at night through the park called Municipal Gardens. Its known for drugs and gangs. We get a lot of robbery, voilence and drugs in Aldershot. Much higher than other places. Car theft aswell. Just be careful if you are thinking of visiting or want to move here. I have lived here for years.

Actually, I've been there few days ago. The shopping mall / alleyway filmed here DOES SMELL OF PISS so bad my family turned back and went other way.
Tragic I grew up there emigrated to Australia in 1971 I remember it being a really great place full of confident proud people what the hell happened to England how did it get this bad.
Lack of jobs, unethical policies, relying on outside economy and now Brexit. Good times

Speaking of violence I nicknamed this town GRAND THEFT ALDERSHOT and I live here @ GTA (Grand Theft Aldershot)
And it has Dominos Pizza and Star Kebabs it has a Cineworld give the town some credit

I lived there until I was about 18. I'd never go back there to live. The Aldershot I knew no longer exists

Okay I get it and its a personal opinion made 11years ago. However if you're smart you would know MOD sold a lot of land off, there's been massive investments, and I've made good margins on property. Planning permission granted for refurbishment, from housing, town center to train station. Its one of the last towns in the South to invest in, a lot of people coming in as the over spill of Farnham, Guildford and London.

My mate moved to Guildford after Primary school for 3 years, and he once came round and we went up town, and then we were heading home, and he was fucking disgraced XD

Farnham and Surrey start at the same place. Just past the turning of Cranmore lane and the farnborough rd.

I actually grew up there- if the property is cheap then go for it, it has a big Nepalese population and a big population of.... well chavs aswell, do they clash sometimes.
If you are moving in with kids i could recommend schools in the area that arent shit aswell
@@sabinefrancohope2026 I appreciate you getting back to me. I grew up in Croydan and really don't want that kind of environment for my children. It was horrible and deviation personified. But I understand why the clashes. What about the army lads?? How is there decorum?
Alot of the army stationed in aldershot moved to another location- so i wouldnt be too worried in that area

This vid isn't over the top at all, it really is dire. So sad as it was such a proud military town and home of the British army, but with the quite unbelievable influx of the Nepalese (and in my town next door, Farnborough) Joanna Lumley has a lot to answer for!! Good vid though.

I live in Australia NSW and I was born in Aldershot. I had one of the best childhoods ever. Might not have much of a shopping centre now but it is still a kids adventure playground. Went there last year.
When I was growing up in the eighties Aldershot was a great town, Hard but fair with wonderful people living there. That slag Joanna Lumley has a lot to answer for.

Staines (was incredibly rough on the one night out I had there). I was born and bred in Aldershot (lived there for over 30 years) and have lived in West London etc.
