That is exactly my thoughts. How do you ever begin to think bodily toxic waste is sexually attractive. I cannot fathom why anybody would date someone who even considered doing THAT! Holy CRAP! Mikey nearly put me off my bacon sarnie when he dropped that one. Haha.
Evening Mike, THIS IS FOR EVERYONE. My son is 18 and autistic. High functioning. And you Mike, you legend, have got him hooked on your every word. He's always had an interest in true crime, but as he said "Mr Chapter makes it so clear, keeps to the important factors, and he talks nicely". !! He's spellbound, and I now have a viewing partner. 2 hurdles overcome, thanks Mike🥰🥰. He has a valid, solid interest, and sits with me to watch. So you've blessed me too. Sometimes words aren't enough, and people may think this is nothing, but to me it's like winning a gold at the Olympics. Stay blessed, never change, and many congratulations on podcast. We love you too xxx
Mine is 4 yrs old, but I so get where you're comin from!✊🖤 (We're midwest Americans livin in mid Europe, and we so enjoy different accents, wit and humor, even if the stories/realities are grim)
After over twenty years as the coroner, I retired. I usually steer clear of true crime channels because, you know, I danced with death up close and personal for years. However, Mike, you make these cases tolerable with your clever presentations. I give them a goo every time you post.
Whoa. I was sure I would hear by the end of the episode that his death sentence had been commuted to a life sentence. When I heard he got executed last month my jaw dropped open. I had to back it up and listen again. He was so sure he would not be found guilty nor executed. Finally some justice. That poor woman cut down at 32. Her poor little children. I hope they are all doing well.
MIchelle, ignore/report the response you have below which is exactly one of the things of which Mike spoke. That is just a pathetic scammer. I have had smiliar not just on this site but on many. So to respond to your fine comment, yes, absolutely. I was shocked too about his execuition (and his say-nothing approach; I saw elsewhere some interviews with him and he cam across as really cold. Mike of course puts aspects together succinctly, respectfully and with joviality when appropriate.
It's bizarre a husband or wife would think that having their spouse executed thatvthe investigators wouldn't wonder why they were executed? I mean, in this case...and in 99.9% of the cases...the answer's so obvious...divorce, cheating, insurance. Like someone's just going to walk up to a person and gun them down for no reason...it happens, but rarely. There's always a reason.
@Michelle Stultz Same... I definitely expected his death sentence to be commuted to life without parole. I'm so relieved that Bob's death sentence was actually carried out👍
His "poor me" routine and grinning for the press really toasts my buns. Talk about a coward - hiring some dumb kid to kill his wife for $1,000. Like so many of these cases, this is beyond tragic. Congratulations on your podcast, Mike!!! Haven't had a chance to get over and check them out, but am looking forward to it!
Jesus.. he paid 1,000 to have someone murdered?! I'd pay 3 or 4 x that to put a mans thingie in my mouth.. if he was cool enough. Jesus there are demented people in this world. 😞
“I need to be eating shit all the time, and when there is no shit, I’m going to be asking where’s the shit?” 😂😂😂😂 Dude is hilarious yet still extremely skilled at maintaining the utmost respect for the victims and their families. That’s a very hard thing to do but he does it flawlessly. Favorite channel hands down.

The thing I love the most about this channel is that you make fun of these horrible people who think they’re gonna get away with these things while also making sure to remember and respect the victims. That’s how it should be, and way too many channels glorify the criminals while essentially forgetting the victims entirely. You’re a good one Mike!
I've watched a lot of these crimes platforms am on disability and have no ,cable, I have a lot of free time but I never came across a video that glorified any of the (criminals ) too me that's out of my interest... but there are some sick people out there' and I think a good example would be Charlie Manson but I don't know if he was so much as glorified or just a lot of people were infatuation with this sick waste , and the same goes for Richard ramirez or Jodi arias or was it because of how brutal the murder were or the wide spread of their crimes??? Who knows?? But it says a lot about what kind of world we live in now, and just remember you always gotta watch your back. ✌️
So much true crime media tries to portray criminals as complex and fascinating, when they're actually just idiots. Mike gets that and it makes his channel stand out from the others.
@@gelly8983 10 to life is grand at times, but she definitely AIN'T MIKE, NOR ANYWHERE CLOSE!!!.... Not to mention that she can sometimes be very biased in her reporting and very selective about what info she divulges - depending on the particular narrative/opinion she's choosing to champion in certain individual cases - I was a very early, quite faithful sub of hers - who eventually had to unsubscribe because that became so blatant and commonplace in her coverage!!; whereas Mike is never biased - and I can't imagine EVER wanting to unsub from his content, which is my favorite of the week!!!...... 😁
It dawn on me you are right!!! And when I think about it there are a few videos I have seen that do exactly that ( glorifies ) perpetrators and the ones that comes to mind are crime family videos, and of course the person or people that does the narrators are the offenders but if you notice they come out and try to tell you that... hey in no way are they glorifying the life style or those type of people and you can see it in theirs eyes they're lying. But I don't watch those types of videos anymore..
I'm very personally invested in Mike's progress, as we all seem to be. I'm not alone in feeling genuinely happy and proud when he announces his success.
That awkward moment when you come home from work, make yourself something to eat, decide to catch up on That Chapter videos, 'cause you've been super busy lately and Mike starts talking about eating shit. Lovely. Really.
It's no wonder the podcast is blowing up. We love you, Mike. Every thing from the stories you find that no one else is talking about down to your mannerisms, accent and good humour. You're the friend we deserve ❤️
Mike, your talent is incredible and none of us are surprised at your success. You speak of horrible acts but with carefully placed warmth, humor, and always respectful to the victims. You are just the best and we all love you, too, Mike! xxooxxooxx
Really...but he had no clue why the lady gave it all up for immunity..... Yes she can be charged as soon as PPL TALK like hiring hit-and-run you better go call popo...u can be charged . hiring ir bullying a scapegoat is very common type of abuse.
Mike!! My parents were friends with this couple, I think they would go out to dinners with them. They remember when this happened, we were living in the neighborhood. It was so sad and shocking!! I wondered if this story would ever be covered, thank you for telling it!
who's wife would want to kiss them after that....?? Or maybe he's not into vanilla stuff like kissing. This gives new meaning to "you need to go brush your teeth, your breath smells like shit".
RUclips really needs to stop being so weak and pathetic with the bots & scams, especially when it's straight up identity theft of their creators. It's so shameful. Congrats Mike! You deserve it!
He gave it a goooooooo and claimed the top spot on Spotify! Congratulations Mike, on an amazing and well-deserved accomplishment, your viewers/listeners have spoken and we love ya!
Don't know that you will ever see this BUT I have over 4 decades experience investigating murders and suspicious deaths and you are about the only channel of this nature who does not drive me crazy from time to time by inferring opinions as fact (and later they are wrong-opsie) and being Irish myself and a great lover of Ireland your accent and sense of humor ('The Irish have an abiding sense of tragedy to carry them thru their temporary periods of joy' O. Wilde), your work is immensely enjoyable.
I read this and thought wow this person sounds interesting. I went and looked at your videos and nope, you're just a bit insane. Just crazy rantings about conspiracy theories. I was like that's weird this person claimed to have spent 4 decades as a murder investigator, so I dug deeper and do you know what I found? You're a liar. That being said, I agree, Mike is great.
The young man who committed the murder didn't seem like he had a lot going on upstairs. It makes me so furious when people take advantage of those who are less mentally acute, as well as perhaps financially desperate, to do their dirty work for them. Speaking of dense, did Robert really think that after asking multiple people to help him kill his wife, that he wouldn't be caught and convicted? It really is astonishing how stupid some people are.
I was thinking that too. 18 years old. An old fashioned expression came to mind when he was talking. He seemed simple. Like you said, not a lot going on upstairs. And a former cop took advantage of that.
That’s why I refuse to involve anyone in a murder plot that doesn’t wear glasses. “I like my killers to swing fat axes, educated so they get blood on their glasses” I think that’s from a song
"These handcuffs are awfully tight and I didn't do it." Right, because we always establish guilt or innocence before cuffing people and the innocent ones always get them nice and loose.
I wonder how weird it is for these kids when they grew up and find out that their father liked to eat poop. And for them to know, their father was probably eating poop when they were conceived… that would be a tough thought to deal with
Can you imagine the first time he asked his wife to sh!t in his mouth? 🤢 First how do you even approach that subject and second, why would you say okay. Never, never, never...couldn't pay me any amount of money! How did he Not get sick from the feces? Mind boggling! LOL
Mike, I've followed you since foil hats and captain's caps and could not be happier for your success! You've earned it because you are just that good. Thanks for all you do and the way you do it.
WoW! So proud of you for your podcast! A friend of mine is a high rank policeman and he normally hates these crime stories because he says they aren’t realistic or badly presented, I told him about you and he said he follows you weekly! You deserve your success cuz your work is well researched, you are honest, with a sparkle of humour but always respectful to the victims, you talk like real people in real life, we love you Mike!
It's the respect, the research, the lack of theatrics, and the down to earth, conversational tone. He presents every episode as the victim's story, not the criminal, and the steps along the path to bringing justice.
Mike is number 1 because of how he makes you feel as he tells the story. Even though you can’t possibly be his friend he nevertheless and remarkably makes you feel that way anyway. It feels intimate and warm listening to him. Love ya Mike.
YES INDEED WELL PUT.... AND THIS IS WHY HES A GEM...ITS LIKe if you ever wanted to go bonkers and commit a crime, you would think of the way Mike makes you look and the embarrassment u will be and back off the thought all together lol just saying!!!!!
I agree! It's the same for all really good youtube channels / podcasts. You click for the genre but stay for the quality creators. Mike definitely a gold star *
It's hard to come off more suspicious than he does at 16:46, when he gives that huge grin after saying "I hope they find the guy...soon". He was so confident he would get away with it.
I had to re-remember that he was talking about his WIFE'S MURDERER! What the shit was going on in his tiny brain? I guess everything came easy to him and he thought this will end up this way too.
I live in Huntsville, TX and I’m gonna be honest, it’s wild to know that these death row executions go on around me and I don’t even realize. Before I moved in town I assumed when someone’s death sentence was being carried out that there’d be protests and all these other things people and larger news says there is, but when you’re actually living day to day here you don’t actually see it. What really gets me though is how recent the execution was when the murder happened literally three days before I was born. The fact that all this went down that long ago and that the story is only just now ending, over 28 years later, is stunning. I always hear how long people sit on death row, or how long it takes for the legal process to do its thing, but when I can measure it with my life? It’s different.
I appreciate your meditation on this burbling in the background while you live out your life; It's quite mind boggling. Born, first day of school, baseball, exams, loves, love lost, Christmas morning, vacation, all while this guy lives out 'his' life, in a small room. It's quite beyond real comprehension.
You don’t need a permit to carry a pistol in Houston anymore! Holly crap it’s like the Wild West days all over. I’m curious to see if violent gun crimes go up or down. I’m guessing up but been wrong before.
Crime rates will go down in Houston once justified shootings are placed upon the evil that resides there. Had to leave in 2018 and now I'm so glad I did it based on instinct. Now up in East Tennessee/ WNC region, I've learned what it's like to live a loving almost carefree life I've never experienced before.. thank you God, thank you people of WNC🙏💙🌌

@jenjen462, Yes, youtube and that parasocial thing is so strange. I try not to feel anything when at the end he says, "take care of yourself, cuz I love ya". Dang it. Creates a feeling.
You so deserve number 1. I dont know why you are surprised! You are awesome Mike! That was a sad case about a sad, sick, and sickening man! Thank you Mike, for all you do for the true crime community!

@@EirelavNotapboth of you are insane if you think this kid comes anywhere near MrBallen. This dude just recounts what happens and throws in some semi funny jokes. Ballen goes into the nitty gritty details that actually make you feel like you’re almost watching what is happening unfold. That chapter recounts stories Ballen actually brings them to life.
Also, respect for the victims? Where? When he makes quirky jokes while talking about people being murdered? Ballen had a literal foundation for victims that have suffered crimes.
Facts.. Mr. Ballen became boring, monotone and majority of stories I’ve heard or read about.. I haven’t watched his vidz since I discovered ThatChapter ❤
I found Mike a year into his endeavor and have been hooked since! So much so that I find myself saying "I hear ya barking big dog" to my kids 🤣 I love watching his subscriber numbers go up!!! He deserves it, he tells the story better than anyone else!!!

This guy comes across as a sociopath as he never admitted to the crime, probably because he never saw it as one, how arrogant.I believe he got what he deserved, while my heart felt condolences go out to her family. As always, thank you for another fantastic video. Stay safe, and remember we love ya.
The say sociopaths have no sense of consequences, which he obviously didn't--as the husband of a woman with no enemies and going through a contentious divorce with all his kinks about to be aired in court, it's pretty obvious who the #1 suspect is going to be.
Folks who watch “The Boys” might agree, but I got the biggest “Homelander” vibes kinda of personality; From the pose, to the delusion inducing entitlement, to the glimpses of fear that his repressed insecurities are showing, down to the *ugh* darnest fetishes. Due to having the “superpower” of narcissism, they get to act without fear due to knowing that they are invulnerable. Except that they are extremely stupid so most of what they know is wrong, and that’s how they end up at the death row. It’s an specific kind of sociopath but its so widespread. Maybe the standoffish + thinking you are a genius while being really really dumb distorts their actual numbers, they are simply the easiest to notice, because you can clock them immediately. I had that thought the other day, I know personally a lot of people like this dude. Banality of Evil made flesh.
I worked on this case on writ for mitigation. Then his son was charged with SA*, reminded me so much of his father/mother’s case. Bob and Farrah’s divorce transcripts were difficult to read, and broke my heart for the kids. *incorrect charges initially stated
This is not true. The son was not charged with murder. He was arrested but not for murder. I grew up with the kids and went to the same school. Get facts straight.
Great story! Too bad the poor citizens or Texas had to pay for him to keep breathing air for those 29 years between the crime and the day justice was served in January. He really wasn't worth it, regardless of how much he loved himself.
Well Mike, I'm proud of you,but not at all surprised. You make millions of people feel as though we are all your personal friends. I care about you. You can connect with people in a way that is rare. "His alibi was as tight as words I can't say on RUclips" This is just part of why we are addicted to watching Mike tell us these stories!!! I gotta say the random sayings and the insurance dance are things I definitely look forward to in all these videos!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I remember this case clearly because he thought he was a smart ass and would never get convicted but was such a joy watching him in court being sentenced 😆 great work Mike 👏 👍
It's crazy he didn't want all that 'crap' to come out in the divorce case, but if he had just gotten a divorce, I guarantee you I never would've had to hear this man's name, let alone know ALL THAT 😳 Someone should've explained The Streisand Effect to him.

This guy really is something else. He’s so cocky. Right up until the end! It’s sad to think she was out getting her hair done enjoying her evening and heads home , never a thought in her mind she’s about to get murdered, I know we never know but stories like that still shock me. Totally unexpected. And the 18 year old kid ruined his life over $1000 and the other idiot ended someone’s life over $1000 , just horrible! Btw I’m subscribed to your podcast just haven’t got over to it yet to listen but will soon. Love your channel, you have a different way of going over true crime.
Congrats on being the #1 true crime podcast! You absolutely deserve that #1 slot. In an ocean of true crime content, you're the most entertaining true crime content creator I've come to spend way too much time paying attention to. You make my unfortunate interest so much easier to digest.

I fell in love with Mike's "That Chapter" in spring of 2021 when I ambled across his true crime bits for the first time... I felt so at home with an old friend (do I sound creepy now??) and he's gifted with a rare skill of impeccable balance. Integrity for victims, coupled with disgust for vile murderers, and chatty likeable humor ---- that makes him seem more like a Shaman of True Crime Biographies.
I remember the 48 hrs or dateline show about Farrah and that ridiculous husband of hers. I remember feeling so heartbroken for her parents and their children. After over twenty years as the coroner, I retired. I usually steer clear of true crime channels because, you know, I danced with death up close and personal for years. However, Mike, you make these cases tolerable with your clever presentations. I give them a goo every time you post.
Happy retirement - may it be peaceful and merry.
Are you still going to rename your channel the coroner's report? I noticed a video that you put up two years ago saying that you were rebranding.

Mike says right at the start of the video it ends with injection, so nothing surprising if the end is spoiled from the start?
@Michelle Stultz Same... I definitely expected his death sentence to be commuted to life without parole. I'm so relieved that Bob's death sentence was actually carried out👍

The thing I love the most about this channel is that you make fun of these horrible people who think they’re gonna get away with these things while also making sure to remember and respect the victims. That’s how it should be, and way too many channels glorify the criminals while essentially forgetting the victims entirely. You’re a good one Mike!
10 to life is wonderful at getting us to know the victims I love it. If you haven't watched her I think you'd enjoy her content 💓

@Dm_chapter_mike Chat then
The young man who committed the murder didn't seem like he had a lot going on upstairs.
And taking out life insurance on her, in the middle of a divorce. WTF was he thinking?
The young man was smart enough to know how to shoot a defensless woman twice in the head. He deserves no sympathy just because he's stupid.
“I like my killers to swing fat axes, educated so they get blood on their glasses”
I think that’s from a song
Dumb picked dumber to do the crime...let's face it neither of them are/were above room temperature on the IQ scale
"These handcuffs are awfully tight and I didn't do it."
Right, because we always establish guilt or innocence before cuffing people and the innocent ones always get them nice and loose.
I wonder how weird it is for these kids when they grew up and find out that their father liked to eat poop. And for them to know, their father was probably eating poop when they were conceived… that would be a tough thought to deal with
Hopefully the kids are in therapy

Lived there for 5 years in Houston Texas 12-17 It's wild! So glad I left. No permit gun carry recently tells me all I need to know. Be blessed.
Used to live in Trinity. I've got family still living there, too.
I appreciate your meditation on this burbling in the background while you live out your life; It's quite mind boggling. Born, first day of school, baseball, exams, loves, love lost, Christmas morning, vacation,
all while this guy lives out 'his' life, in a small room.

Who does admit it. A narcissistic person never will
Folks who watch “The Boys” might agree, but I got the biggest “Homelander” vibes kinda of personality; From the pose, to the delusion inducing entitlement, to the glimpses of fear that his repressed insecurities are showing, down to the *ugh* darnest fetishes.

@DmThat_Chapter00 NO!
@@andykelly7321 I just reported that one, if you can still see it report it.
@@catherinewilliams3850 Done, these people are so sad.

Good for you. Report the comment and then go to the channel and under about, flag and report if not already. I suspect it is all one person as I've found six different one's with the same _modus operandi_ in the comments section so far.
Dating him is also on your bucket list?
Rest in peace for that lady that passed away for her family members everything goes well for her family
Best Valentines gift hearing my absolute favorite RUclipsr ever! Thanks Mike for always delivering the true crime content I love so much! Much ♥️& all the best! Have a lovely day/night all!
The man! Came across TC a few months ago and never looked back. My fave RUclips crime place . Mike is a card has me laughing all the time on top of being so detailed and informative on each show . Big ups for number one true crime podcasts . 🎉
I'm from Atascocita so when you said "it has a thriving nightlife" I snorted and said WHAT, then you said "that ends at 4pm" yeah that's more like it 🤣 it's always crazy seeing stories that happened down the street from you on here. Keep up the great work!
"His alibi was as tight as words I can't say on RUclips"
This is just part of why we are addicted to watching Mike tell us these stories!!!
Hit me up 👆👆
I have surprise for you 🎁
I’m sorry but what does “coz” mean?
It's crazy he didn't want all that 'crap' to come out in the divorce case, but if he had just gotten a divorce, I guarantee you I never would've had to hear this man's name, let alone know ALL THAT 😳
Someone should've explained The Streisand Effect to him.
We love ya Mike! You've earned that #1 crime podcast 👍
He sure did 💙
He's #1? Huh
You deserve #1 Mike! You were the first true crime channel I ever watched and you are still my first true crime stop....every single time! Love you too! ❤ Take care my friend!
@@mollyk5557 It's for the new podcast Mike mentioned.
“It turns out that gobbling up actual shit ,was not the worst thing about him” 😂😂 had me there ❤
Bob was disgusting. Too bad he didn't get the needle sooner! Never saw a man smile so big after his wife was killed. The kids lost both their parents, how sad. Bob was in church while his wife was being murdered. Did this narcissist really think he could get away with this?!? RIP ❤️
Thank you-once again Mike for representing these cases respectfully and injecting your humor at the most appropriate moments! Gotta love the State of Texas!! An absolute case of justice served to this individual.
I found Mike a year or two ago and was watching a video one day when my mother stopped by and saw me watching That Chapter. She said "I absolutely love him, especially when he does the life insurance dance." Now everytime we talk we discuss your most recent videos.

I love reading "only 75k subscribers" because were I **ever** to dabble as RUclipsr, I would pee my pants at hitting 1,000 level of people wanting to hear what I have to say, but Mike's success is pretty stellar and all well deserved!
I been here since 200, I’m better than you
I love the positive energy and comment dear❤️ Much love from Birmingham!
Never ask "did you kill? " this murderer will always lie...just find the evidence quick..poor the wife..the way she died just horrible..
i cannot tell you how much joy the life insurance screen brings me. the first time i saw it it was late at night and i had to cover my mouth to keep from waking up the house i was laughing so hard. my favorite thing.
@thechapter_mike The desperation is very strong! Give it up.
Please report, chatting with a troll does nothing but make it worse. Report
As a fellow Mike, I can only hope to achieve a fraction of the well-deserved success you have. Congratulations and more to come, I'm sure!
Mikes unite!

I fell in love with Mike's "That Chapter" in spring of 2021 when I ambled across his true crime bits for the first time... I felt so at home with an old friend (do I sound creepy now??) and he's gifted with a rare skill of impeccable balance. Integrity for victims,
coupled with disgust for vile murderers, and chatty likeable humor ---- that makes him seem more like a Shaman of True Crime Biographies.
Remember when Mike used to reply/like our comments!? He's got far to many now to keep up !
He's still the Absolute BEST 🤍
Your parents must be extremely proud of you. Well deserved Mike. Delighted for you!
Much deserved, Mike! Can’t believe I discovered you 3 days into my 2020 Quarantine. Appreciate all the work you put into these videos!
Robert Fratta was a remorseless shit until the end.
@@nicholamc2629 yes. yes he was
Thanks Mike 💜 always a relief when the partners are actually caught 🙂 Yes these scammers don't let up!!!
I remember the 48 hrs or dateline show about Farrah and that ridiculous husband of hers. I remember feeling so heartbroken for her parents and their children. I hope those kids have grown up feeling loved and have had therapy to get over all this insanity! Mikey I have been really enjoying your podcast stories! You tell them so well❤I really enjoy your new format of 1 in depth story and the podcasts! You are really shining!😘😘
Congratulations Mike on the success of That Chapter. You deserve 👏 it !
Not surprised at all by your success. Your totally unique in the way you present cases, putting your own stamp on them. Congratulations and well done
