I don’t think so, at least in Europe the “modification” is not necessary as magnetic door locks are rather common! Even in residential! My G2 only allows uploading a single static photo for facial recognition reference and I'm running Access 3. The video at 00:33 shows it doing an iPhone-like rotational scan of your face. Is that something specifically for the G3 or is it coming soon for G2 as well? I mean I'm loving the current facial recognition feature on the G2s I installed on the inside foyer doors at work, so much so that I installed a G2 system at my home with a modified strike plate system for my front door. However soon realized the sun backlights and thus blacks out the foreground of your face when it's mounted outdoors. Wasn't a problem for the low ambient light foyers at work, but man it was completely useless in bright sun at my house. Simple enough fix, I just remounted it 90 degrees on the wall next to the door, which helped remove the sun glare. Also, I had to install a motion detection light to light the area at night so it can see my face at night. A forward facing light for night time use as well as backlight compensation would be nice features to have in the future.
@@D4M14N1989 I also have the EA latest version, but don't see an option for that. Where do you go to do that instead of just the upload photo clickable text button in the authentification methods area?
@teabagger117 hmm, I don't know about US homes. But in the EU, most main entrance doors come with a preinstalled electrical lock/opener, so you just hook up the wires, and you're good to go.
I installed in mine, with the electric strike lock, was a mess to install drilling and all but afterwards it works great, tap to unlock still sucks, it works once every ten times but know with this new functions it’s going to be flawless
I installed the electric strikes on my internal locks and it works great. It's worth it. In the UK we use multipoint locks for entrance doors so I had to "hack" a Yale Conexis lock with Zwave module and it kinda works.
This would be absolutely awesome to use at home with a doorbell using these features. 😉 Also, Android support of Either doorbell or typical access assets would go a long way.
That hub mini would definitely be more appreciated the standard size! I think several of the ports on the standard size are left unused as they are applied to doors with magnetic locks and buttons to open the doors, and even maybe a camera. That makes this one a lot more easier.
If you have a strike plate and handleset, use the key. Or, have a UPS on the devices and switch. The credentials are stored in the door hub instead of requiring internet, so a simple battery backup would be enough.
$5 per year for a security product sounds perfect to me. Since it is security we want them to get paid for making update so it doesn’t become un secure.
Consider enabling multilingual functionality for readers in software. I know it exists for several world languages, but it will probably never be available for my language. I don't know why it's so complicated to allow the user to enter (an editable variable) a phrase in their own language. "Swipe up to ring", "enter pin", "welcome", etc. This is holding me back from investing further in Unifi Access.
I still can't unlock from Android WearOS, which is unacceptable. No lock solution for multipoint or deadbolt style residential doors. I modified my internal doors for electric strike installations but this is not an option for a multipoint UPVC door thats ubiquitous in the UK.
Ohhh nice fine print on the release notes for Access 3.0. I wonder how much it would be for more than 10 Apple Wallet Touch Passes. "Support door unlocking with Touch Pass added to Apple Wallet on an iPhone and paired Apple Watch. The one-year free trial includes 10 Touch Passes." "[Identity Enterprise] Touch Pass is currently available only for Identity Enterprise workspaces with paid subscriptions."
Oh great iOS only no Android nor WearOS support... The majority of the world uses Android, Android support should be first and foremost, with iOS coming secondary.

I really hope they come out with deadbolt locks and door handle sets for residences that don't require door jam modifications.
A smart residential deadbolt lock seems like a total no-brainer at this point.

G4 Doorbell Pro is supposed?
u can already do face detection with your G4 Doorbell pro (to unlock a door) if you add an AI port.
@ AI port? What is that?
Just need the residential Smart Locks now and we're GOLDEN
Apple wallet integration is sweeeet
Been waiting since Access V1 for this!!
$5/user/year …
Noice! But does it work with older hardware too?
FYI, you don't need G3 for Face ID unlock--works on G2 Pro also!
Apple HomeKey?
yeah
It's not meant for home so not technically home key but will work very similar
It's technically Apple Touch Pass, which is also used for subway turnstile systems and such.
Why no g2 pro? They have nfc
Android phone? Android watch? Garmin watch?
Is the only upgrade to the G3 Reader series the Apple Touch Pass function?
What about Android Wath support for Identity app and NFC unlock?
You have to pay a suscription every year? 🧐
It’s designed for business so that would make sense
Hope the tap to unlock feature comes to Android in the future.
What do you mean? With the access app installed, tap to unlock works fine on Android (Samsung S23U).
@LuByrch I thought that was a feature that was moved to Identity Enterprise. I'm new to it so it's highly likely I misunderstood something somewhere.
Is it a subscription model too 😉?

How does an iphone unlock a door even when the phone battery is dead?
It keeps a little battery reserve. So if it is dead dead it will not work
Similarly you can also track your iPhone and pay for public transport when it is dead
