Mam does 3 allele s are present in a individual at a time ? Or 2 of them.?

A population can have three alleles but an individual can only have two or one alleles at a time. Let's suppose take this example- Human blood has three alleles A, B and O, so if allele of 1st parent is A and the second parent is B then offspring will have allele AB. An individual that is diploid 2n will have two alleles only.
