Huawei Technologies officially released the Mate XT trifold smartphone on September 20, 2024. The tech giant’s latest product sparked a frenzy at its launch, with a price some netizens have called ludicrously high. It also reflected Huawei’s success at stealing Apple’s thunder in the world’s largest smartphone market, with the launch taking place the same month that the US tech giant unveiled its latest iteration of the iPhone.

I must say Huawei has shown remarkable resilience in the face of recent challenges. Despite setbacks, the tech giant continues to make strides in the global mobile industry, demonstrating its innovation and adaptability.
Huawei’s new phone is a going to be a massive expensive paper weight. No companies would massive produce a foldable phone case. If one of the screens cracked the entire phone would be useless and unusable. Huawei has been banned from selling in the United States. No western countries would take them seriously. Huawei can’t stand against tech giants like Apple and Samsung. Majority of the world uses Apple and Samsung products. Those two are serious heavy hitters.

This company is legendary fr. The weight of the whole US empire might are against it, but it is still pushing forward.
Well like, the company is based in one of the most populated and conservative countries on the planet, of course it will be doing well. That is to say, it is difficult to get other products not made in China into China, for a number of reasons, so Huawei and other domestic brands have a huge advantage. Ya'll keep mentioning Apple, but even Samsung, a massive company which is developed by a nation on the same landmass as China, is struggling to hold itself there.

China manufactures both high-end and affordable products, but unfortunately, due to the low income of many Indians, we can only afford the cheaper options.

If Huawei fulfils only half of the already available 6 million Chinese pre-orders at an average price of $3000 that means they make $9 billion (*in revenue) off this device alone.
That's without counting additional preorders, over the counter sales and sales in other countries for their forthcoming global version/s.
Quite a feat from a company that was mainly recognised in the past for imitating Apple.
*Edit: - added the $9 Billion figure above refers to revenue.
After deducting manufacturing costs and other relevant expenses the profit from this one device may probably be more than $4.5B based on the above scenario.

@@yu6678 The above only references revenue but I'm roughly guessing they'll make somewhere in the 50% margin profit range as they won't need to spend that much on advertising, with the hype around it, it has already sold itself.
So out of the $9B above, likely $4.5B in profit.
Likely more however as with more sales, production costs get cheaper due to materials discounting etc.
Not bad for Huawei.

@@Rickiye Still seems like a gross overestimate. Huawei doesn't own every single part of the supply chain; other companies help manufacture certain parts like the screen, battery etc. and they are due a part of the revenue.

It does look impractical though, because it is a trifold phone the folding screen will sit out on the exterior. Folding screens aren't as durable as glass screens so it will scratch and just a drop will probably scuff the entire screen. You can literally leave dents in your screen using your finger nail thats how fragile the screens are.
