I just bought the Spin 15 and I LOVE it. I had the HP Chromebook 14 G5 touch right before the Spin, and there is absolutely NO DOUBT whatsoever that the Spin is, literally, light-years ahead of the HP.
I just found your channel and the Chromebook. I've never been interested in laptops but the 2 in 1 Chromebook with Chrome OS, android and Linux Apps with a little horsepower is perfect. I'm waiting on the spin 13. Thumbs up.
I traded up from my Acer Chromebook 14 (2017), and already love it! The backlit keyboard is probably the best feature on this Chromebook, accompanied with OK forward facing speakers which lack bass, making songs sound flat. The trackpad is also really nice, my fingers just glide across it and it feels way tighter and less crunchy than my old 14, same with the hinges holding the screen. I actually sent my old 14 back to Geek Squad because the hinges were super loose, and it looks like they fixed that problem. I really love this laptop, and the people that say it doesn't have a purpose clearly don't have one. I love the black bezels over the plain 15's silver, and the ability to put the laptop in tablet mode to watch Netflix in bed is definitely worth it.
Pricing was just released for the 13'' models $750 - Core i3 8th gen, 64GB eMMC, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM $850 - Core i5 8th gen, 64GB eMMC, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM $950 - Core i5 8th gen, 128GB eMMC, 16 GB LPDDR3 RAM Imo, unless you plan on installing Linux and doing intensive apps on that 8th gen processor, the Pixelbook is still the better option given that you can get it for $740 on Amazon right now. Looks better, more portable, onboard Google assistant, more storage, SSD not eMMC, and gonna feel the exact same when browsing and multitasking with apps. Chrome OS has no use for an 8th gen processor.
If you get a hold of one of those tabs I would be interested in A.) can it run a chroot and B.) If it can, how well it runs. Looking forward to your coverage of those and the 13" when you get them. Great videos, great info.
I love the look of the Spin 13. Always a sucker for portability. My trusted Toshiba Chromebook 2 2015 has worked its absolute socks off nearly every single day for the last couple of years. But just about starting to show its age. The Spin 13 is expected to be around $700 ish imo. Might as well get a Windows instead.
Compelling. Sorry I missed you guys here in the city. All Chromebooks outside of Pixel Chromebook need to earnestly compete with the most bleeding edge of hardware to make Chrome/ Android a one-shop computing/ entertaining hub of true value. Go hard on getting the software fluid across all O/I then we'll have a phenomenon.
I hope the Chromebook tablet has an accurate, bright, wide gamut screen so it is a good media consumption device. ChromeOS is appealing for its security features and frequent security and feature updates. My major concern is that if it's aimed at the edu market at best it will be in Fire HD 8 screen quality territory (80% or so gamut, but good delta e, a little dim) rather than in the iPad 2017/2018 territory, which is nearly the gold standard (iPad Pro with HDR/Dolby Vision and 4k resolution is, of course, the video gold standard right now).
Love it. I am so jealous of you! I'm hoping to not replace my Asus C302 until 2020 but if I was in the market, I'd be so excited about the HP detachable and the Spin 15. A convertable 15 inch? YES, PLEASE!!!
Sorry to hear that. Mine has been great. It got a little slow when I enabled stylus tools. I power washed, didn't re-enable stylus tools, and it's back to normal.
Tom Mullaney Yea. It quit charging once. Did a search on that and got it to recharge again. I'm going to do the Power Wash. I do like the ram, M3 processor, and screen. Actually I wanted a tablet as my SHIELD tablet rocked this processor intensive Android game. I got it from Amazon open box so saved $100. In theory because I didn't get Prime Shipping, taxes, etc. Always buy new! That SHIELD tablet was $199 brand new. No charger, etc but at that price point, front firing dual speakers, 8" beautiful screen, etc. couldn't be beat. Used ones selling for over $300 on EBay. I do like this new Acer tablet and would be perfect for my applications. The prices aren't bad when you consider I paid $300 for a Toshiba Chromebook 3+ years ago for my girlfriend. Back then, it was one of the only Chromebooks that had 4 gigs of ram with a full 1080p screen. It's the only device she uses other than her phone. Replaced her laptop.
I have a Toshiba Chromebook 2 that got slow after two years so I bought the Asus. I just powerwashed that Toshiba a year later and it works like new! My Asus also had that charging issue. I found the solution on Reddit. With how well both the Toshiba and the Asus have responded to powerwashing, I'm hoping I can make it into 2020 without buying a new Chromebook. TBD.
Tom Mullaney LOL! Yes, it is the Toshiba Chromebook 2 that I got her. And I too found the solution on Reddit for my Asus. We have a lot of similarities. I will have to do that power wash on my Asus. I'm glad it's a touchscreen! It is very responsive. Do love the lite keyboard. Probably my fault on the touchpad as I always used an external wireless mouse on my laptop so not well versed in using. Rarely use that anymore. I do love flipping it over in tablet mode.
Nice video , can you do a review about the Acer Chromebook spin 15 I'm a moderate user thinking of getting one but there are just a couple of videos out there about this unit hope you can help out after all you are one of the very est out there Thanx again best regards !
The Pixelbook might be the tech benchmark, but saleswise, I think Acer needs the Spin 14 to compete with the Samsung Chromebook Pro/Plus and the larger Asus Chromebook Flip. Those have $499/$599 models. The Spin 13 needs to be priced along those lines or be a bust. I think Acer knows that.
Based on what we know, the Spin 13 has drastically better hardware than the Pro or Flip though. It seems the base model of the Spin 13 will have a Core i3-8130U processor, which in itself has a recommended price of $281.00 from Intel. With an HD+ 3:2 display, stowable Wacom stylus, back-lit keyboard, and glass track pad it's hard to imagine this device being less than $599 even as a 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage base model. We won't know how good it is until the full product is released but IMO, based on the specs, $599 would be a steal.
Do the Acer spin Chromebooks (the 11 and new 13) have palm rejection with the stylus? The Chromebooks are more in my price range but I don't know that I want a pixelbook or Samsung notebook when I can get something like an HP spectre x360 for close to the same price (especially when we get to back to school sales). Great video and great channel!
I contact Acer Norway yesterday to ask when in sept the Acer Cromebook 13/13 Spin will arrive, but they didn't know. The Spin 13 make me very exited. I just bought Hp Chromebook 14 Ca080 to try Chrome OS for the first time, and i really like the OS. But maybe i have to high hopes for the specs in the pc, i thought Intel celeron N3350, 4GB DDR4 Ram, intel HD grapics 500 on chrome OS was enough for fast browsing and steraming HBO, Netflix etc. But its strugeling with smooth experience when streaming, and slow web browsing with only one window and tab open. It's not anything bad with my internet connection. If not the Spin 13 will be available here i dont know what to do. Acer 15 CB 315 and CP 315 15 Spin who is available here, has only a old Pentium N4200 intel HD 505. UserBenchmark says N4200 is 61% faster in effective speed, but will i see day and night difference in performance from N3350 to N4200 ?
I don't think laptops that can rotate 360 degrees are meant to be used as tablets. I think it's based on a set of qualities people expect/want in their laptop. It doesn't. It is currently available at Best Buy in the US. www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-spin-15-2-in-1-15-6-touch-screen-chromebook-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-64gb-solid-state-drive-sparkly-silver/6221784.p?skuId=6221784 You can see all the specifications there.
I bought the Acer Spin 15 Chromebook and I totally love it. The screen is fantastic and the resolution is awesome. Love, love it!!!!
If the price is right I'm definitely getting the Spin 13.
I just bought the Spin 15 and I LOVE it. I had the HP Chromebook 14 G5 touch right before the Spin, and there is absolutely NO DOUBT whatsoever that the Spin is, literally, light-years ahead of the HP.

Love it! Thanks for covering this. Man, can't wait for you guys to get some of the recently announced Chromeboxes in for review too.
Wow! I just walked by there today. I was wondering why people were being swept with a metal detector wand before entering the courtyard.
Pricing was just released for the 13'' models
$750 - Core i3 8th gen, 64GB eMMC, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM
$850 - Core i5 8th gen, 64GB eMMC, 8GB LPDDR3 RAM

I just got the spin 15 and love it, my first chromebook
Really thrilled to see new tabs coming with the chrome os addition!

I am still loving my samsung chromebook Pro, but there are some things on that 13 I would like. Thanks for the videos.
The weight seems significantly different, no?
our school gave us these todayyy!!! yay!!
The Spin 13 sounds awesome
New intro!! Looks cool 🤩

the 13 sounds amazing, hope to see a review soon
I like the 13 w/i5 suite, but I would LOVE the 15 with same. :D
Now that the Acer Chrome book Spin 15 is available for purchase, will you be doing a Full Review for Us????
where is the spin 13 and chromebook tab? they aren't even available yet
So the rumor of the 13 chromebook ( non flip) being $400 and coming out in June is not accurate? Really want to grab one in July.
Taran Gagne Still unsure on that. We couldn't get any firm numbers.

Watching on my Acer Chromebook 15
Same here lol
Thank you so much for the video!
Can't wait for the full review of Chromebook tablet.
Great video. I bought the new CB311 (the blue one) on the back of your CES preview, and see a lot to like here too. That new 13 is compelling.
Me too! Mine is arriving tomorrow. I'll see how Chrome OS actually performs.
You'll love it. The hardware is great for the price. Chrome OS is not perfect, but performs its strengths painlessly and quickly.
Acer Chromebook spin 15 is available on best buy but they don't send to Europe. Could someone do video review of this Chromebook.
I love my acer chromebook spin 15, I just got it 5 days ago.
Love it. I am so jealous of you! I'm hoping to not replace my Asus C302 until 2020 but if I was in the market, I'd be so excited about the HP detachable and the Spin 15. A convertable 15 inch? YES, PLEASE!!!
Tom Mullaney My Asus C302 has been a lemon. Mouse stops working, speakers crackle at times, etc. Disappointed for what I paid.
Sorry to hear that. Mine has been great. It got a little slow when I enabled stylus tools. I power washed, didn't re-enable stylus tools, and it's back to normal.

Been waiting for this!!! but was hoping for an 11inch chromebook
Still Loving my Acer 15 2017
The pixel books are prototype machine's for Google, available to purchase by the public to make the numbers up.
Is it available in India?
new intro, loooveee itttt
What's the difference between the R-13 Spin and the Spin 13?
Nice video , can you do a review about the Acer Chromebook spin 15 I'm a moderate user thinking of getting one but there are just a couple of videos out there about this unit hope you can help out after all you are one of the very est out there Thanx again best regards !
Android on Chromebook's is a bridging measure until progressive web apps using web assembly become available.
Spin 13 for the win.
If I dont have to sell an arm and a leg.
Prices here in sweden are insane 😢
Some exciting stuff coming!
Please review the spin 15, I'm basically sold on it
Where can I get the 13" version?

By the way, New York in May is perfect as this video demonstrates!

Where is the music at the beginning and end of this video from? It's awesome and I have to buy it!
Bueller... Bueller...
Does it have a sata or m.2 slot for HDD upgrade ?
Most looking forward to the Chromebook tab. I like tablets but android tablets are dead.
Any idea when google duo and android messages will be compatible with chromebooks?
now . check the play store
Acer Chromebook tab 10 definitely an iPad killer!
Eddie Frolic that's a little far fetched
Nabil Chowdhury how so?
LOL I don't think so
For the same reason that Android tablets didn't even come close to killing the iPad.
My Nexus 9 just died a few weeks ago and I can't find the right android tablet
Saw people saying that the Acer's are a pixelbook competitor... Not sure man...
I don't think laptops that can rotate 360 degrees are meant to be used as tablets.
I think it's based on a set of qualities people expect/want in their laptop.

It boils down to consumers want a touchscreen, so manufacturers make a hinge rotatable because it's what other Windows PC manufacturers do.
Very excited
I love your accent, is it North Carolina?
The Chromebook Tab is just a Nexus 9 running ChromeOS
The performance seems just as poor
unfortunately
The Acer Chromebook Tab should have been called The Acer ChromeTab 10. Makes a little more sense.
Does anyone know if the Acer Chromebook 15 Spin have an integrated pen?
It doesn't. It is currently available at Best Buy in the US. www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-spin-15-2-in-1-15-6-touch-screen-chromebook-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-64gb-solid-state-drive-sparkly-silver/6221784.p?skuId=6221784
You can see all the specifications there.
Want to test drive that Tablet
please run antutu benchmark test
i5, 8GB, 16GB will be for Windows versions I would have thaught
With cheeper cpu's and 4GB 32Gb/64GB flash for Chromebook version's
The 13" i5 " Chromebook's " are actually the next generation of Microsoft PC's
The screen might be a victim of adaptive brightness control.
Intro song?
excuse me, i'm korean. who can tell me about this? Can I switch to korean input by pressing the right key of the space key?
um yea...spin 13 is $900 on amazon
Weight wise, LOOKS heavier than asus and Samsung. True? 13 spin I mean of course
Don't like the gray bezels of CB 15,
Don't like the big bezel of Spin 15.
Will probably buy one though.
'hands on' but we dont see anyone using the device in the entire video.................
LOL ASUS. DUDE you are at ACER event. this proves this guy just want to rush filming. lol
Juan G. Sanchez if you're referring to 36s in, he actually says "Acer's" as in Acer has.
Only if it looked sleeker and sexier.
I know licensing music is expensive but the music for the broll on this channels videos resonates like fingernails on a chalkboard. :(
Flip, spin...
Chromebook s should be inexpensive and not a power beast
One of the first
Sorry
giant bezels.. yuck
Name a bezeless tablet.
David Lamma IPad Pro 10.5 is pretty close
The old Acer Chromebooks are junk. Had one for less than a year, already the keyboard is dead.
