- President Biden has told Israel there are “no excuses” for not allowing more humanitarian aid into Gaza.
The United Nations is warning that a quarter of the population of Gaza are close to starvation.
However some Israeli protesters are blocking aid convoys at the border, to prevent food reaching Gaza. Among them are family members of people taken hostage by Hamas in the October 7th attacks in Israel. They say no food aid should enter Gaza until all the hostages are released.

The pictures of starving kids surfacing from Gaza look a lot like the pictures of starving Jews during the Holocaust. "Never again", they said.
The lesson the world "learned" was that prior to the Holocaust people had been openly antisemitic and cared little for the plight of the Jews, and after the horrors of the genocide suddenly everyone empathised with them and wanted to protect them.
And that was a justification given for what happened at the UN in 1947 when the majority of Palestine, and almost all of its arable land was given to its Jewish minority, and taken from the majority by the international community.
And today suddenly people are empathising with a group that has been abused for three quarters of a century, after an atrocity finally made them wake up to it. That is the circularity of history, but it's also a warning about empathy. Empathy is often the cause of great harm, because people empathise with one group over others, and so discriminate in favour of the groups they identify relatively more with themselves.
Now people empathise with Palestinians, but for a very long time, they were too busy empathising with Israelis to ask questions about what was actually going on there, and some people who now empathise with Palestinians have adopted antisemitic behaviour, while others who empathise with Israelis dehumanise Palestinians. Empathy is a good thing in and of itself, we should empathise with everyone, no matter who they are, but we should also hold them to account.

Most of us were lied to about how Israel was created. I was told the jews transformed the desert into arable land but was not told there were native Palestinians living there that were massacred or displaced in 1948 during the nakba. Now I know the truth and have concluded that justice must prevail : FREE PALESTINE.

I've lived in South Africa all my life. I remember the photographs of babies in central and northern Africa in the 1970s and 80s who looked just the same. A baby is such a tiny creature. Evidence of malnutrition becomes evident very quickly. Those emaciated legs are just the start. Next will be the bloated and swollen tummies. The awful thing is that even should these children start getting the food they need, they may already be incurring lifelong physical consequences. This is beyond tragic.
A photo long ago of a starving child her belly swollen, eyes vacant, skin pulled tight over her bones as a vulture stood by waiting for her death rattle to begin its meal showed me that God doesn't exist and these freaks blocking food to starving babes shows me that the devil does.

Blame it on Hamas. They started a war, and made Gaza into a battlefield. Also blame Hamas for the Egyptian border being closed. Hamas killed Egyptian border guards a few years ago, prompting Egypt to close the border. Hamas has done everything possible to maximize civilian deaths.
The way the report started was like its an isolated event its been going on for weeks. The North of Gaza has had literally no aid for close to two months. This is despicable and to not call it such is even worse. How can we see babies, children starving and allow aid to spoil waiting to get in.
