I am really sorry for your loss. My mom passed away last 16th January. She died of cancer and left us roughly three months after she was diagnosed. When I learnt about the story behind this song, prior to my mom’s death, I started to feel depressed for no reason. Truth to be told, I started to feel sad several months, perhaps a couple of years, before the cancer was detected. Then, my family and I received the bad news about my mom’s health condition and this song got stuck in my mind. I can’t stop listening to it. It expresses exactly how I feel and how I’ve been feeling during my mom’s last weeks on earth. I hope you and your family are feeling better now. As for me, I have a long road ahead to overcome this. I miss her a lot and I will always do. God bless our moms’ souls. May they rest in peace.

I have felt this song since the beginning. Your mother should have been a really special person. Today marks 24 years since my godfather had an accident and died. I've never forgotten how special he made me feel and how sweet he was to those around him! I was so young at the time I had trouble understanding what was going on, how was it even possible to happen so suddenly. I'm so sorry for your loss. My youngest child and I saw your uncle perform last night in Raleigh, NC. When they performed Wrecked, he had asked everybody to think of someone they had lost. For me it was my sister, Pat, who helped raise me. We lost her just over a year ago. And also my mother-in-law, Cynthia, whom we lost a few months before that. The emotion and the heart Dan poured into that performance really struck a chord with me and of how much we'd been holding in since those loses. Cherish your memories. I am a cancer survivor after fighting ovarian cancer for nearly 10 years throughout my 20's. I count myself lucky and blessed that after many surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, I'm here to experience the life I always dreamed of, as a wife and Mother. Looking at your beautiful family, I can't imagine what you all have been through these past years during her illness, treatment and then loss. Losing a parent is so, so hard. I lost my dad in 2017, and this song is such a description of the grief I felt and still feel. I am so sorry you are going through that incredible pain. Your mother is so beautiful. There is so much joy in her eyes. So many of the pictures in this song reminded me of my family- my dad loves taking us to the mountains. I know it's hard, but somehow you'll find a way. I don't think "the pain will go away." Not like everyone says. It will always hurt, but there is always light somewhere, and as time goes by that light gets brighter and brighter, even as it all still hurts. You can feel her loving and positive energy. When I was at the Y, one of my best friends was named Kayla. She was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I know I'll never meet anyone like her again. Her knowledge, her humor, her love for music. We'd stay out, staring up at the stars, talking about Sufjan Stevens, Salman Rushdie, the War in Afghanistan, the Decemberists, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, as mean anything... She was an English major, and she was brilliant. When the time came, she graduated with her BA from BYU and got a full ride for a PhD at Duke. One day, I was on my way to teach a class at a uni in China. One of our friends messaged me a newspaper article. She'd committed suicide. I never knew she was depressed. I still don't know all of what happened. All I know is that the earth got a bit dimmer. It's been a few years. I'm in my mid-30s now. I'm married with kids and I have a position in a uni. Yet she's still single and 26. She will always be 26. This song just brings her back, and let's me feel that deep longing for her to just knock on my door again with a smile and a book. For what it's worth, many of my old students in China have mentioned this song when I've talked with them. It's helped many people the world over. Thanks to your uncle for articulating this feeling. And thanks to you mom for being amazing, as only amazing people can inspire songs like this.

Your mum was beautiful and happy and was obviously a blessing to all who knew her. I am deeply saddened by your loss, it is a terrible thing to lose your mother at any age. There is something so heartbreaking to be seperated from them. Your uncle Dan Reynolds wrote such a wonderful song that it has become my own song for my own mother. She died back in 2003 and yet it feels much more recent than that to me. When I hear Imagine Dragons sing Wrecked I find my mind going to my mother. It must be doubly so for you. I feel for you and will pray that our Father in heaven will ease your pain in the same way He did for me. God helped me heal my wounds and grow strong again. He will do the same for you and your family. God be with you always.

Lost a friend in tragic car accident and a friend who was murdered. My cousin was also murdered. Lost first friend at age 12 to a horsing accident. 34 people by age 40. 😢😢😢😢 wrote a song for my dad and have yet to release it. It’s called Daddy did you Know

Losing a parent is so, so hard. I lost my dad in 2017, and this song is such a description of the grief I felt and still feel. I am so sorry you are going through that incredible pain.

You can feel her loving and positive energy. When I was at the Y, one of my best friends was named Kayla. She was a.m.a.z.i.n.g. I know I'll never meet anyone like her again. Her knowledge, her humor, her love for music. We'd stay out, staring up at the stars, talking about Sufjan Stevens, Salman Rushdie, the War in Afghanistan, the Decemberists, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, as mean anything... She was an English major, and she was brilliant. When the time came, she graduated with her BA from BYU and got a full ride for a PhD at Duke. One day, I was on my way to teach a class at a uni in China. One of our friends messaged me a newspaper article. She'd committed suicide. I never knew she was depressed. I still don't know all of what happened. All I know is that the earth got a bit dimmer. It's been a few years. I'm in my mid-30s now. I'm married with kids and I have a position in a uni. Yet she's still single and 26. She will always be 26. This song just brings her back, and let's me feel that deep longing for her to just knock on my door again with a smile and a book. For what it's worth, many of my old students in China have mentioned this song when I've talked with them. It's helped many people the world over. Thanks to your uncle for articulating this feeling. And thanks to you mom for being amazing, as only amazing people can inspire songs like this.

Every time when I see a child or a positive good smiling person with cancer or some another deadly disease I feel pain and cry like it's about someone I know and love, I can't explain it. Your mum was beautiful and happy and was obviously a blessing to all who knew her. I am deeply saddened by your loss, it is a terrible thing to lose your mother at any age. There is something so heartbreaking to be seperated from them. Your uncle Dan Reynolds wrote such a wonderful song that it has become my own song for my own mother. She died back in 2003 and yet it feels much more recent than that to me. When I hear Imagine Dragons sing Wrecked I find my mind going to my mother. It must be doubly so for you. I feel for you and will pray that our Father in heaven will ease your pain in the same way He did for me. God helped me heal my wounds and grow strong again. He will do the same for you and your family. God be with you always.
