I'm jealous of your chicken diaper haul. I had to let our indoor chickens freebutt today because their diapers aren't dry and it was indeed chaos. Bonus is I suppose my cochin who normally HAS to spend part of the day on my desk with me cuddling decided she wanted to lay her first egg on me. I was like thanks.... At least I know that's where she felt safest.
I have 6 chickens in my living room 24/7 for the last month now...the have no diapers because I am afraid of being grossed out. They roam around during free time and poop everywhere. I do pick it all up right away when they do it so the room is not covered in poop! While I am at work they have their private suites. 2 girls in each suite. Just to keep them safe, contain their poop and preserve the life of my house plants...they love it!
This channel is great for some inspiration. We have a chicken that is never done great in our coop because she us blind in one eye and scared of the other chickens. She loooves humans and follows us around everywhere to be picked up. Now she has some health problems for which we put her inside to monitor and treat her, she is absolutly loving indoors life wjth us. It makes me think to maybe keep her indoors but then we need some diapers. For now she stays much around and in her box but she is feeling better and better and starts to walk around the house. Impossible to find some here though but this design seems really doable to make myself.
We are waiting for diapers, and meanwhile MOST poo is on the rugs to protect the carpet, bit the WORST poos always seem to be in the carpet. I have found that magic erasers do a good job, and LemiShine does a great job. In a pinch, lemon juice concentrate also helps.
can chickens not be trained to only void in their cages (??) like other birds can? i know literally absolutely nothing about them super pretty bird btw
Some have claimed to potty train their chickens but that has not been my experience. I can expect that they'll poop more in their frequent hang out spots but mine have always just pooped whenever it's ready LOL
