You've made Metropolis into Kansas City. Metropolis always gave me Chicago Vibes. It makes sense that they would all be spread out and not run into each other early on. It's why Bruce Wayne and Gotham would need a Bat-Family. Diana would probably be in Washington D.C.
The one thing about the Metropolis placement is that in basically all iterations of the character he’s a country boy moving to the big city, sometimes even out of state to do so like being called “Kansas” or some variation of that by Lois, and I feel that would lessen if Metropolis was basically a few hour drive from Smallville at most.

Can't say I like the idea of Metropolis in central US. That area just doesn't have economic or cultural gravitás Metropolis usually exudes. The northeast makes far more sense for the size, wealth, and futurism the city is usually depicted with. Not to mention it usually has rivers and a waterfront too. But this is a fanfic of your ideal DC so there's no reason it can't be different.
I disagree. I feel like Metropolis being featured inland and still a hub of commerce, culture, and sociatal virtues is what made it the City of Tommorow. I always saw Metroplis as being inbetween Chicago and Kansas while still being close to the river.
@@Timquan. That wouldn't make it a city of tomorrow though, it'd make it a runner-up while coast/port cities take most of the economic & political clout. Think of how NYC became "The Center of The Universe" while Chicago forever remained "The Second City" no matter how hard it tried. The only "Inland" city among the big three should be Flash's Central City, which makes perfect sense considering it's often depicted as a tier below Metropolis/Gotham while still being a noteworthy hub.
@@NykandrosAtlanta exists as a fairly large inland city, however I do think Metropolis needs a water front. And as someone else said, a very large inland city just doesn’t make sense in that particular section of the country.

I loved this video, always cool to place them in the real world. Could you make a video of Marvel’s Justice League (like Moon Knight for Batman, Sentry for Superman etc.)
I’ve always thought Metropolis being THE major city would be New York City, Gotham, having a history of crime and corruption, was a reference to prohibition era Chicago
I like all the locations you’ve picked! I’ll be honest the Canadian Smallville threw me off but I get where you’re coming from with that. I’m from Louisville, KY and as far as I know it’s not often if ever brought up in comics. Can you think of a city or hero you’d situate in The Derby City? DC or Marvel comics, I’d love to hear your opinion on it.
Hey thanks for keeping an open mind about it! There were quite a few people acting out about my Smallville choice and I think it's because Superman is so tightly connected to American culture. I definitely get it but I just wanted to make some different creative choices. And I think I'd go with a Flash, maybe Bart Allen for Derby City!
So, as a fellow Canadian, I don't like the idea of placing Smallville in Canada. I do like having a Canadian connection, but I'd do it through character rather than location. In my particular version of the DC Universe, I'd add it into the story of Ma and Pa Kent. First, I'd have it so that Johnathan Kent's father/grandfather/other ancestor came to the US from Europe through Ellis Island between 1880-1910. Many families changed their names when they emigrated to try and avoid the kind of treatment "foreigners" would get in those days, so this ancestor took the name Kent instead of their German Jewish name, Siegel. Next, I'd change Martha Kent's backstory to make her Canadian, from Toronto, and her maiden name would be Shuster. And yes, in my version, Clark Kent would be raised Jewish, and as he discovered his his Kryptonian herritage, part of that would be how he chooses to approach the ideas of Rao and YHWH.
I fail to understand why Smallville in Canada bothers so many. I don't see a big problem with with. Regardless, I would like Superman's connection to Canada to be a little more prominent so at the very least, his mother being from Canada works.
@@tyrellmultimedia I think I may have worded it stronger than I intended. I don't HATE the idea, I just prefer that it stay in Kansas (mostly because I like Lois giving him the nickname "Kansas" alongside "Smallville"). But I definitely do agree that Superman's Canadian connection should be present within the fiction, as well as the Jewish connection. But it's important to remember that Superman was created by two people, one Canadian and one American; so I think keeping the US as part of his upbringing too is important.
No no you're all good! I just noticed there were a few people who didn't like it and was wondering if there was a reason why. You did make good points all around though!
@@tyrellmultimedia Yeah, the location of Smallville in Kansas has been part of Superman's lore since pretty much the beginning, so people get attached to it. That, and I don't think people realize how similar prarie towns are on both sides of the border. There's also the tendancy for Americans to get VERY posessive over Superman. His motto for a long time was, "For truth, justice, and the American way." This "WASPy" American aspect of the character has pushed out the Canadian and Jewish aspects of his roots over the years, and I think they need to be brought back in.
Hey t.m.m big fan of your videos! There's a topic that i've been thinking about and i would like to see your takes on which villains should switch to a different rogues gallery?
I don't like Metropolis being that close. Clark is from Kansas and Lois at first always calls Clark Kansas and I don't think she'd do that if Metropolis was in Kansas or near the border. I feel like him moving to Metropolis would be a big deal and personally I would have it in Michigan by Detroit.

I have never seen someone make a video with this subject and I would like to see you do them for at least Marvel if not some other universes that have fictional cities. Marvel and D.C. need to start telling more stories in far more different locations because NYC for 90% of Marvel stories is way past lame and Gothem is cool but way to many stories happen there in my opinion also....
My head canon is Gotham City being in Jersey, close to NYC Metropolis, I’m torn with it being in Illinois or Ohio Bludhaven is in Connecticut Central City is in Missouri Coast City is in Cali in between LA and San Francisco Star City is in Washington State
-Fawcett City should be Philadelphia (like in the DCEU) but the place you picked makes sense too I guess. -Star City should be where Seattle, Washington is. -Gotham you have in a good spot but it could be the New York/Manhattan area with Bludhaven being New Jersey since they’re supposed to be sister cities. Bludhaven being in Connecticut makes zero sense lol. -I always thought of Central City being Indianapolis, Indiana for some reason. But it would make more sense if it was like somewhere else in the Midwest like Chicago or Detroit. -Last but not least: Smallville should never be ANYWHERE but Kansas. And certainly not in Canada lol. That might be the worst one 😂 The rest I don’t have a problem with.
Nah, Smallville in Canada is fine lol. I know it being located in Kansas has been apart of his lore for a long time and I can understand why people may not choose that route but it's really not the end of the world. I wanted to change it up and make it my own. But I respect your points!

I love this idea and actually I found out a while back that New York used to be called Gotham and people who lived in New York was called Gotham mites so instead of Gotham being in the middle of all of those just make it New York itself and make Smallville Virginia one time I went up to Virginia and then I realized oh it's like the real life version of Smallville and Paradise Island would obviously be an island of course maybe that one Island they filmed H2O on and maybe one of the other Islands actually which of the island has a second Island does the second island could be the one where Nubia comes from and whale she gets taken to.☺️
Interesting. Gotham and Metropolis always seem to be depicted as being on the northeastern coast of the United States. They both usually have coastlines and implied that they are not that far from New York. From CT to DE there is enough coastline for both cities as well as a few others.
Fawcet City needs to be east of the Mississippi River. It's radio station is WHIZ. Station call letters beginning with W are east of the Mississippi, while those west of the river start with K. (with two exceptions).

Since Metropolis can be seen in the far distance from Smallville in the Smallville TV Show, I always place it in Northern Kansas or Missouri, with Kansas City to the Southeast of Smallville. Of course, the real Metropolis is in Illinois and is far from being a Metropolis. Gotham is supposedly a 'Twin City' of New York, which is of course impossible considering the American Coast Line. Coast City is probably on the West Coast somewhere while Star City seems similar to Atlanta, at least to me. Some people also believe Metropolis to be Chicago.
Themyscira's kind of hard to place. The island shifts through both time and space...here are the known geographic places it's had. Ring of Fire (Lynda Carter Show season 1) Bermuda Triangle (Lynda Carter s2-3), Post-Crisis Comics Mediterranean Sea (Supposedly Nu52, but not really as they were already in Sky Space when Diana left to become Wonder Woman) Pre-Crisis Comics hinted at the Aegean Sea as well. If anything I would go with it's most common location the Bermuda Triangle...as Steve couldn't have flown that far from D.C. when Baron Von Storm shot him down...not to mention it would explain all the inconsistencies with Wonder Woman canon....Weird Stuff happens there. Dakota City is meant to be Detroit. Dwayne MacDuffie outright confirmed that. Midway City (where the Hawks live) is Grand Rapids. Atlantis should be close to Maine since Amensty Bay is in Maine or at least opposite of it. I would say it's in the northern Atlantic Ocean near England with Xebel in the Southern Atlantic near Brazil....just to give more edge to Mera's side of the family.

I always thought that the fictional dc cities should just take the place of real world cities. Metropolis is Dc version of LA, Gotham is Dc version of NYC, Central/Keyston city is dc version of Chicago and etc. it lessen confusion about how their are like twice as many major US cities and how that works.
Video ideas: DC characters who would be worthy of Mjölnir(Thors hammer) and Marvel characters who would be worthy of a green lantern ring(or any other lanterns) EDIT: This is a cool, fun fact. In Illinois, which is very close to the Missouri and Kansas area, there is a real-life city named Metropolis where they hold a Superman themed festival and have all kinds of Superman stuff all around including a statue of Superman and a Daily Plane globe.
See I actually always pictured it as slightly NW to Atlantic City NJ - and since DCs Earth is physically larger than ours it means Gotham City can still be above it but that’s only my thoughts
It seems to vary by writer how close together Gotham and Metropolis are. Sometimes they are sister cities across the bay and other times Metropolis is West Coast while Gotham is East coast. However, Metropolis is also depicted occasionally as a city in Kansas, about 10-15 miles from Smallville. Smallville is certainly not in Manitoba. Clark is constantly referred to as a "Midwestern farm boy". I like what you did with Metropolis. Star City is in Texas though i thought.
A lot of these cities have been changed and relocated many times over various stories and histories. That's why I made certain changes. I wanted some of them to feel original and different, ie; Smallville in Canada.
Can you tackle a video of how smart you want Batman to be or how smart he should be ideally? Like on the level of a genuis or just some average joe. Should he have some engineering knowledge, Chemical or biological, etc. In essence should he create his gadgets himself or should he be deemed top 2 smartest individual after Lex Luthor?
Isn’t Central City in Missouri in the Flash Tv show? That would be my preferred area. I like the idea of New Haven and Bludhaven, but they feel like a different neighborhood or sister city in/ around Gotham rather than it’s own city. (Maybe like how Newark and Jersey City are so close yet are different cities. Or similar to San Bernardino and LA.) They could have a borough called Newhaven and another called Bludhaven to incorporate this idea.
1. Smallville - Edwardsville, Kansas 2. Metropolis - Manhattan Is The Perfect Place For Metropolis. The Paramount Building Should Be Used As The Daily Planet. Suicide Slums Should Brooklyn, Harlem, The Bronx, Queens, & Yonkers. 3. Gotham City - Newark, New Jersey Is Gotham & Should Be Used For It Mostly. Other Than That Use The Rest Of New Jersey. 4. Central City - A Place Like San Bernadino, California Should Be Used. 5. Actually Use Detroit, Michigan For John Stewart Cause That's Where He's From. 6. Coast City - San Diego, California 7. Star City - Seattle, Washington 8. Fawcett City - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 9. Amnesty Bay - Portland, Maine 10. Bludhaven - Chicago, Illinois 11. Opal City - Colorado
Some of it is good but... I'm sorry nah, Smallville is in Kansas. Superman has always been "Just a good kid from Kansas." Him being from the Midwest is so important to it's characterization. Also metropolis is so obviously New York it hurts.
Metropolis will be located in Cleveland Ohio. So who really knows where Gotham would be. The Batman is located in London because of its Gothic look. So I feel it would have to be somewhere that gives that look.

I get you changes and agree with most. That being said I´d keep Smallville in Kansas and Star City in Washington. As for Wonder Woman I´d keep with what the media has done with her. I´d have her living in two places. Living 6 months on each. In America she´d live in Washington D.C. as this place need a hero and who better than her. I´d also have her living in Paris...if not Athens come to think of it. Since Themysira is already in "Europe" and given culture and interests I´d have her living in Paris. I think Gotham works better as a replacement for Buffalo tho. yes, while Gotham looks very inspired from NYC, it is actually nothing like NYC. Think about it. NYC is the financial capital of USA, while Gotham is nothing like that all. NYC is actually a lot lot safer and nicer than Gotham, which is an unsafe dirty hell hole. NYC is cosmopolitan with lots of diverse ethnicities, while Gotham doesn't look that diverse IMO. I haven't really heard about any prominent immigrant sections of Gotham, as much as I know about NYC's immigrant neigbhorhoods. There is no sign of Gotham being known for Pizza or Falafel, while NYC prides itself on a multi-cultural identity. Gotham works better for Buffalo. Think about it, Gotham should be a rust belt town, which suffered horrible deindustrialization, lead to people falling into proverty, and sections of its city went into ruins, which is what happened to Buffalo or Detroit. Buffalo has high crime rate just like Gotham. Buffalo has some historical buildings remaining that look similar to some of Gotham's buildings. Buffalo is located near the Great Lakes, and Gotham being there would mean there can be shipyards and a view of the sea from buildings. If you shift Metropolis a little eastwards to indiana, then you can show an interesting contrast between Gotham and Metropolis. Both are midwestern cities, but one is declining rust belt city similar to buffalo or detroit, and the other is a Midwestern city located in rust belt but somehow thriving by figuring out a service industry like PIttsburg or CHicago.
As a Hoosier-Texan why not place Gotham in Gary, Indiana? Gary is known as the equivalent of Gotham in Indiana and it's quite scary....fitting for Bruce.
Metropolis is St. Louis. It's one of the biggest Midwestern city and close to rural Kansas where he grew up. Flash could also be St. Where are Louis but I was say Chicago. I while not gritty like Chicago, but I it's Midwestern and considered a big and technically advanced city. It also allows Superman and Flash to be close to each other but very much different cities and markets.

Interesting ideas Jordan. Is it like a comic or what is it?
@@JuanEnriqueFloresJr it's more like what I would do if I made the DC movies. It's more character focused and less event focused, but all of the character arcs will come to a climax in the big event films. I just got done writing the map, character descriptions and story arcs.

You might have already done this but if not I would love to see your take on what a Marvel version of Injustice would be since you already did DC Civil War. Who would be the two heroes leading the regime and insurgency? Which characters from the main universe get dragged over to the injustice one to help out? Who would die? Which villains would join the Regime? Who would have the Flash's role and switch from the Regime to the Insurgency? Ect.
@@tyrellmultimedia nothing wrong with Canada, eh!! Love the concept and video!!!

I've only ever known her to call him Smallville.
Atlantis is located roughly in the same location as Rapture in Bioshock, which is neat

I have never seen someone make a video with this subject and I would like to see you do them for at least Marvel if not some other universes that have fictional cities. Gotham City being in Jersey, close to NYC
Metropolis, I’m torn with it being in Illinois or Ohio
Bludhaven is in Connecticut
Central City is in Missouri
Coast City is in Cali in between LA and San Francisco
Star City is in Washington State
Best take I’ve seen, though I also see Gotham as Chicago sometimes.
That might be the worst one 😂
The rest I don’t have a problem with.
Nah, Smallville in Canada is fine lol. I know it being located in Kansas has been apart of his lore for a long time and I can understand why people may not choose that route but it's really not the end of the world. I wanted to change it up and make it my own.
But I respect your points!
No Fawcett should be Wisconsin. Billy is "The Big Red *Cheese*" afterall.
@@tyrellmultimedia I mean, to you it’s fine lol. But I can see why you went that route and I respect your opinion. It just seemed like such a jarring take that it caught me off guard. That said generally Fawcett rotates between Milwaukee and Indianapolis, the Philly thing is a Nu52 bit. However I do see the Twin Cities idea working as well...because Billy and Mary are twins!
This is interesting. I did a similar thought experiment but my version got rid of most of DC’s fictional cities (except for Metropolis and Gotham) and placed the North American based heroes in real cities instead.
For e.g. I’d have the Flash operate in San Francisco, Green Arrow in Los Angeles, Hal Jordan would be from Ann Arbor Michigan, John Stewart from Chicago, all of the Dakota City characters would operate in Detroit. Etc.
I love this idea and actually I found out a while back that New York used to be called Gotham and people who lived in New York was called Gotham mites so instead of Gotham being in the middle of all of those just make it New York itself and make Smallville Virginia one time I went up to Virginia and then I realized oh it's like the real life version of Smallville and Paradise Island would obviously be an island of course maybe that one Island they filmed H2O on and maybe one of the other Islands actually which of the island has a second Island does the second island could be the one where Nubia comes from and whale she gets taken to.☺️
No Keystone City?
Interesting. Gotham and Metropolis always seem to be depicted as being on the northeastern coast of the United States. They both usually have coastlines and implied that they are not that far from New York. From CT to DE there is enough coastline for both cities as well as a few others.
0:01 My favorite DC logo.
Fawcet City needs to be east of the Mississippi River. It's radio station is WHIZ. Station call letters beginning with W are east of the Mississippi, while those west of the river start with K. (with two exceptions).
I like it… only change Id make is move Superman to Chicago.. metropolis is very built up…. And it also fits your narrative because his parents are close enough in rural Canada like you said… great thought experiment!

The Arkham games place Gotham, Bludhaven and Metropolis as neighboring cities to New York.
As a non-American, nothing in this video meant anything to me so I completely agree with all of your decisions :D
I remember The Flash CW series putting Central City in Missouri. I generally agree with that.
To me Metropolis is a Midwest city.. definitely agree
Also..calling New Haven the "safer" side of anything in any context is hilarious
Could you do another for the other ones like Themyscira, Dakota City, Atlantis, Gorilla City, Balia or whatever it's called?
Themyscira's kind of hard to place. The island shifts through both time and space...here are the known geographic places it's had.
Ring of Fire (Lynda Carter Show season 1)
Bermuda Triangle (Lynda Carter s2-3), Post-Crisis Comics
Mediterranean Sea (Supposedly Nu52, but not really as they were already in Sky Space when Diana left to become Wonder Woman)
Pre-Crisis Comics hinted at the Aegean Sea as well.
Wonder Woman has Gateway City on the West Coast, Blue Beetle has Palmera City somewhere in TX

EDIT: This is a cool, fun fact. In Illinois, which is very close to the Missouri and Kansas area, there is a real-life city named Metropolis where they hold a Superman themed festival and have all kinds of Superman stuff all around including a statue of Superman and a Daily Plane globe.
I’d imagine Bludhaven being a mix of Philadelphia Chicago and NY
See I actually always pictured it as slightly NW to Atlantic City NJ - and since DCs Earth is physically larger than ours it means Gotham City can still be above it but that’s only my thoughts

Lmaoo Smallville and half of Opal City is a lot to you??
@@tyrellmultimedia The reason why I liked that you put Metropolis in the Kansas City area is that it is closer to Smallville.
Love the video just disagree with the Smallville placement.

No Blue Valley?
Gotham fits great by Chicago to me
Gotham (in the dark knight trilogy) is pracically Chicago but i believe the city should be in NY (Bronx specifically)
1. Smallville - Edwardsville, Kansas

3. Gotham City - Newark, New Jersey Is Gotham & Should Be Used For It Mostly. Other Than That Use The Rest Of New Jersey.
4. Central City - A Place Like San Bernadino, California Should Be Used.

But, since Themysira was created by the Greek gods, why not have her living in Athens already? That way Europe also has a main DC heroine and who beteer than WW?
