  • VINDAFJORD: This is an easy and scenic hike in beautiful mountain terrain just above Ølen and Etne. We follow the hiking trail for a short distance from Oppheim towards Olalia Fjellstove, but turn off towards Hest after 2.5 km. The last kilometer walk on a trail. From the top we can enjoy great views in all directions.

      Looks like in Norway the track markers are large reddish poles! 😮

      @@GirlVersusWild Those reddish poles are ment for ski slopes, so then you need somewhat tall poles that are clearly visible. This area is very popular in winter when it is covered in snow.
      For hiking trails, it is common to have small cairns and/or markings painted on stones and rocks or even trees. And also small wooden poles.

      Yes, this is great hiking area and is very popular, especially in winter, with prepared ski slopes and catering at Olalia.

      The stone on the edge is not an unusual sight in this part of the country. Even two stones on top of each other, placed like that by the ice during the Ice Age.
