This pervasive AWARENESS that we all share it isccommonly understood to religious people or non secular people as SPIRIT. But people think of Spirit and Self as being separate. It is mindblowing when you realize that what we are is this Awareness that pervades every single experience, object, sensation, thought, feelings, emotions. I started by closing my eyes and going inward with Rupert's Meditation on Self abidance. It was extraordinary.
"When I look for the I, I can't find it" When looking for the "I" as long as I think the "I" is a thing I can't find it. The question changes to "Why can't I find the I?" No trailing vines here, nothing to grab on to. Awareness when sifted through, I cant find any qualities to it. It doesn't have size, time limits, means I doesn't exist in time or space. Is it beyond time and space? It doesn't have thinghood. I is not an ego, it is what is left when ego is eliminated. Thanks all for the pointers
You cant find the "I" because the thinker is not separated from thoughts. The I is the thoughts too.Once you realize that(by direct perception) fact everything falls into place.
Listening Rupert makes me much more relaxed, satisfied, simple, effortless..... Thank you, thank you, thank you. For such a nicely explained everything.
You melt me into Oneness so easily and effortlessly dear Rupert! I m optimistic that in the near future more and more people will get awakened and get a permanent release from all bloody dividing idiotic forces and live a better and peaceful lives!!Thank you Rupert for enlightening people worldwide!❤
Where is the physical reality of the experience of "red"? The quale of visual perception? An energy wave of a particular set of qualities is radiating through space. The wave interacts with certain physical materials, chemical reactions take place. Where in this physical model can you point out or demonstrate that the experience of "the color red" occurred? So far there has not been, to my knowledge, a known particle or any physical substance created when a mind creates an interpretation of outside "information" i.e. physical interactions which happen to create sensation.
When your true self breaks through the mind wrap the I dissolves into consciousness. And you realize that I'm not me but consciousness in a pretentious posture. There's nothing about me and what I experience except and that of pure consciousness.
Wow. This is amazing stuff. ❤ Then the final and most exciting question arises: what happens in our deepest sleep, in our beyond-sleeping "state", during each night, and also what happens during two incarnations, between death and birth? Is Awareness/Consciousness/Beingness remains exactly the same? In my experience the answer is yes! ❤😊❤
In my direct experience asking random people if they are aware almost always provokes them to ask a question in response to having asked them are you aware, "Am I aware of what?" Not a single one of them, and I have asked several at that, has ever simply answered, "Yes. I'm aware." 🤣🤣🤣
They think it has something to do with being aware of something objective but their answering "Am I aware of what" pretty much is all you need to know as they are only externalizing awareness attributing it to having something to do with objects.
Oddly I spontaneously became aware as a 4 year old child that whenever I am, everything appears . I dont know if it was that friend of my family. The Ukrainian bohemian arist who studied film under Eisenstein. Or what. But it was in the back garden looking after a garden of flowers she got me to plant and it just suddenly dawned. Obviously It wasn't complete because the nature of that awareness wasnt clear yet but I never forgot it. So as soon as I encountered in my reading Jean Klien and the classic advaita texts in my early 20s I was hooked.. Haha I had the 'genuine understanding" in 96. Then a few years later went through a death like terror and realized the deathless nature of consciousness. Yet still a few residual vasanas remained.. not enough to prevent realization of course.. but still enough to prevent the full fruit of natural joy from being more or less constant.
@@DualBoyy wait a minute is that what Rupert is teaching? If so, then is not improper to say that we are awareness? As there is no I-thought in being awareness. It must be wrong to say that I am awareness. It makes more sense to say that I am a reflection or idea of awareness. And being aware or when I am aware is not that I am awareness, but is the experience of awareness located. Without location I wouldn't be aware.
Quite brilliant. This is exactly what humanity lacks most of the time, and it's right there... in all of us. I call Separateness the Grand Illusion - the imagination, the "dream", or something similar - of That Which Is. The purpose of it is so That Which Is can experience everything: the good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, & everything in between. Such a thing can't be done unless That Which Is temporarily forgets who/what It is. Ultimately, there's only One thing that exists: Cosmic Consciousness, or That Which Is, or whatever name you wish to assign It. The name is not important. So, do the Cosmic Dance (meaning Be-In-the Present, Now-ever), and be Aware. Happy Trails
Is it not I, the same I that is angry, lonely, etc, I is the central character in the drama of feelings. Find the nature of I. Follow it through to your experience.
I’ve been trying to question the qualities of awareness but all I seem to find is awareness! Unseen, unmoving, constant, no substance. Kinda empty but theoretically I know everything within it. Can anyone elaborate how I can escalate my enquiry please? Would be much appreciated x
Awareness is aware of itself(11;07) ...all the rest you have written are the mind's attempt to prevent you from knowing that you are not a cluster of thoughs, sensations, perceptions etc but pure awareness
Most of the time awareness is there,or easy to recognize maybe except in deep sleep, this ring a bell in my case, everything must pass but awareness remain?!?
I just cannot help myself today, as it is a new year, 2015, may the force be with you ... and it is. I would guess that Life itself is that which is being called Awareness ... out of which all arises. It is never changing in and of itself ... only the play that is observed changes. Have I got it yet???? The space wherein all things take place ... it is the oneness of us all, is it not?
You don't need the part about Life. Just as a blind person "has" undiminished awareness despite not having sight, a stone "has" awareness despite not being "alive" and having animal senses. Now substitute "has" for "is". Unless you meant "Existence" for "Life". I suppose then I didn't need to reply.
Minahh Hiya kid! Happy New Year. My two cents is when discussing this is that it has to be made clear how one is defining and understanding "life". Eternal life is quite different than a life sentence. :)
"When all seven billion of us are asked the question am I aware?" the vast majority of the seven billion of us will refer to the sense of "I" that is coming from the mind, that it is aware. Unfortunatelly, you still haven´t convinced me, Rupert. I wonder if I´d rather focus only on the later videos as Rupert might have found better ways of explaining in the meantime. Neverthelles, thank you for all your work.
So, this self that on examination doesn't exist ?? So, our beloved families, friends, creatures , loving experiences , whatever , is all just nonsense and illusion ????????????

Wait, Who was told off?

This one in particular resonates with me. Love it!
When Jesus said I am the life and the truth. He was referring to this I AM yet people often think he was referring to the person.
I am aware of having the thought: "This is so good", and feeling good at the same time. This is better than "Look ma, no hands!":D
I need to listen to this every day

Thanks for posting!!! There must be a physical reality that these beliefs can be based upon.
Why must there be?

I Am is a conduit to the Self
no thought can exist without Me.
How is the I AM different from the Self? The I AM refers to Awareness/Self.
@@saidas108 I am is just a reflection of the self. The self itself is not even the "I" which is only also a certain idea within the self.

I am that which is that is experiencing being consciously aware of experiencing being consciously aware that I am that which is.....
'I am aware' could just be a function of the mind/brain.
This exact thought you have just written is another mind's trick and not awareness which is aware of it !
How does one confirm this, I mean it can very well be the mind
Obviously
Who says " I am aware" ? Whose sound it is ? Is awareness speaking? If so , Can awareness speak ? Or is this sound of mind?

I tried to inquire and am now experiencing extreme depersonalization.
If this consciousness of I Am is eternal, how come it becomes weaker sometimes (e.g. feeling sleepy) and stronger while you are fully awake?
Is that sickness or sleepyness something that modifies or awareness or is it just another that you are aware of?
