    The bottom cap is great.
    You can grind larger amounts of pepper needed for cooking in pots etc.
    You can then tip the pepper in directly from cap rather than exposing the pepper mill grinding mechanism to steam and oil from your cooking pots and pans.
    In fact some pepper mill instructions warn against grinding for too long a period directly over hot steaming pots etc.

    I got a pepper cannon about a year ago. I used this video to show a coworker what I was talking about, I was telling him about how much pepper I was going through, I love it and highly recommend it to anyone.

    You can remove the O-Ring from the base cup with a toothpick. This way the cup comes off without any resistance and functions more or less like a stand, so that you dont have pepper flying around your table.

      Hi, yes, MannKitchen suggested that to me after I made the film and that's exactly what I've done. Was too late to add to the film, but I mentioned it in the description.

    We too have experimented with just about every type of pepper mill over the years. I’m not sure we’re in the market for a £150 one that you have to mill yourself, though. I would be wanting battery operated, automatic, blue tooth and a Tesla rated motor with 9 speed gearbox for that money. We have progressed to battery operated mills. They’re very good (we think). You should do a review of them too. You might even be able to explain to me why they come with a light which comes on when they grind. To date, we’ve not had a reason to grind in the dark…

      Laughed out loud ... Yes, but sometimes the best gadgets are the simplest ones. I can't for the life of me think why anyone bothers to power a pepper mill, or a corkscrew for that matter, although perhaps for people with arthritis. Without wanting to sound too much like an extremist tree hugger, it does feel like a slightly unnecessary use of resources. Sure, this is an expensive pepper mill, but if I'd bought one of these instead of all the rubbish ones I've had over the years, I would have saved myself way more than £150!

    I can honestly say this is the best supreme pepper grinder I have ever had over half a century and I've had all of them from the cheapest model to the most expensive like Peugeot and Le Cruset from France! There is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing like this particular pepper grinder this peppergrinder is like owning a Tesla it's that advanced! This is something when you pass away a family member is definitely going want because it's for lifetime! I have other pepper grinders and I save those for when guests come for the picnics or at the dining room table but this particular pepper grinder is for me and me only and it stays in the kitchen next to the Himalaya salt shaker! I'm actually that jealous and don't want no one else touching this particular pepper grinder! This is for my personal use only! That's what it makes you feel like!👏🤷‍♂️

      Glad you enjoyed it. I haven't got a Peugeot, so I can't really answer that, except that as far as I can see, the Peugeot refilling is nothing like as clever and easy as the Pepper Cannon, and the Peugeot model I looked at had six grind settings, whereas the Pepper Cannon has more than I can count, which I think means it should probably grind courser and finer.

      You guys should take notes from Arlo on how to make videos. I could not even watch yours. Even after seeing you have so many more negative ratings than positive, you just turn off comments rather than just taking the time to make another video. You cannot even hear anything because of loud corny distracting music. In addition to having NO address on yoru website, I am skeptical to consider it, your video did not help.
      Arlo, makes fascinating videos.

    • @arlo.guthrie
      @arlo.guthrie  3 года назад

      @ghanus2009 Gosh ... was really surprised by your comments - didn't remember seeing more negative ratings than positive ones about MannKitchen videos, so I went to have a look. There are only two videos where the negatives outnumber the positives. One was a swearing chef with bad sound. The other was the comparison of the pepper cannon version other amazon brands. So I think you are being a bit unfair on them. The actual video I think you are talking about www.youtube.com/watch?v=miz20QRTY had more likes than dislikes. But I was still surprised at the number of dislikes, because I thought it was a GREAT video. Perhaps the music is a bit distracting. But the voice comes through clearly for me, and I thought the script, presentation, filming and editing are all absolutely first class. Thanks for your comment about my efforts, though!

    Good review. The Pepper Cannon is 5 times more expensive than the Le Creuset so I’d expect it to be 5 times better.
    A Peugeot mill would be a good comparison.

    • @arlo.guthrie
      @arlo.guthrie  Год назад

      Thank you. And it’s an interesting thought, whether something necessarily needs to be 5x better if it costs 5x as much. I look at a Bentley Continental convertible, and think there is no way it offers, what 37 times as much fun as 2CV on a sunny day. But as it happens, the Pepper Cannon is at least 5 times better than any other I have owned. Delivers more than 5x the pepper, 5x the endorphins each time you use it, and 5x better engineered (easier to fill, easier to use etc). It really is best in class. And no, I’m not on a commission.

    the cup is to avoid getting steam in the mill when grinding directly into a steaming pan...

    • @arlo.guthrie
      @arlo.guthrie  2 года назад +1

      Well they say it's so you can pre-grind pepper to use on a steak, so you don't get blood on it after the handling the steak. But I've not ever had a problem with blood on my grinder, or steam getting in a pepper grinder, so after discussing with MannKitchen, I found their other suggestion much more useful, which is to use to take out the rubber sealing ring in the cap and use it as a stand (which stops grindings going everywhere).

I don't use the cap. but my wife insists on using it else the pepper goes where she doesn't want it. She is tidier than I. I use it on coarsest grind: I like the texture. I feel a bit bad about this last comment as it is beautifully made...but imagining it was built in an American high tech workshop...I was a bit disappointed to read Made in China, lol.
