'Auld Lang Syne' is attributed to Robert Burns in 1788 but it is believed that several of the verses date back to the mid 15th century. This tune is often sung on New Year's Eve to a different tune than the one in this arrangement. The tune here actually predates the one we all know. Burns apparently preferred this older melody and we think we do too!
For "old times sake" or "to the good old days" are expressions that capture the poignant message of a treasured song that speaks of treasured memories with old friends despite the ever-changing circumstances.
