Khan sahab was the reincarnation for music only !!! He was beyond the 3 octaves ..!!! Master of masters!!! Achieved perfection in every note... The neverborn legend !!! 👏👏🙏🙏
This one is just out of the world Unbelievable, singing of the highest order one that needs completely drenching into and abandoning the mortal world, equivalent to a saint meditating and reaching god
Thoroughly indebted to Raju Asokan for uploading this gem. Kuchh kehne ko reh nahi jaata ye sun kar, alfaaz nahi hain Khansahb ko arpit karne ke liye. Raju bhai, you've done a true act of sangeet seva!
Bade ghulam ali khan sahab is one n only perfect thumari singer.legend classical vocalist.god gifted god of music era.soft, deep, clean , melodious n soul touching voice.excellent performance .wowwwwwww.
What Khansahab is doing starting about ~5:30 min into the clip is, in Hindustani music terminology, called "shruti-bhed" or "moorchhana" -- the tonal "Sa" is changed to a different note, which then results in a "different" scale although the same "frequencies" are being sung due to the change in tonic.
Can it be exactly the same frequency after moorchana. In indian music the ratio of frequencies are not equi-tempered but simple ratios. So sa/ga and re/ma may not be equally seperated?
@Rajiv n Saptak your discussion was so nice. As far as my humble little knowledge is concerned Model shifts of Tonic on Malkauns are going as follows:_
It's inappropriate to expect perfection from these old recordings and we can be grateful for having them as is. But I have to wonder whether your comment on quality is sarcastic or not Quality of artistry, no doubts. But quality of recording? Such pieces really deserve the sound rehabilitating expertise of a master recording engineer, and eventually I expect that will happen. But why, pray tell, the sudden cutoff of the raag before completion. That, unfortunately, is a sacrilege.
@@angelocito1 not one iota of sarcasm. Compared to some of the other recordings of this legendary singer I've come across, this recording is surprisingly and refreshingly clear. And this is an amazing rendition of one of my top three favorite ragas.
Yes, that would be Kumar-ji. You can check my public playlists here on YT - perhaps there is something there you may find. There is a separate one for his interviews and documentaries, etc as well. Best wishes.

Old is gold. Fantastic stuff. Thanks again for uploading this. Re your message to Rajiv - would these be DVDs of Kumar Gandharva by any chance? I'm a huge fan and am always looking for new material.

Is this the same as singing in a different key - in the Western music?
@@argmined yes..of ours..
Rajiv Chakravarti Thanks for the explanation! I was wondering what's Re doing in Malkauns ... all makes sense now :)
Yes. Pt. Ajoy Chakroborty also does it.

Eventhough he was not upto his father, Ustad munawwar Ali khan too was a gifted singer.
