I grew up on my maternal grandfather’s farm in SC and that’s where I learned to drive a tractor. The place is mine now. At only 100 acres and only 42 of that open fields, I can’t make a living off of it, so I do other things. I love the place and I helped my grandfather with his cows and pigs. My favorite thing to do on the farm was discing the land preparing to plant. We grew soybeans, corn, wheat, watermelons and cantaloupes. I also worked for our neighbors in the summer. Farming can be a hard life, but it’s a good life.
I think it’s great you’re teaching your kids how to help out. It’s great the kids don’t mind working. They have it easy compared to the equipment I had to work with. My grandfather had a model B John Deer and my dad had an International Super M. No cab so it was hot and dusty……I loved it. It was fulfilling at the end of the day to be able to to look behind me and see that I had accomplished something. Keep up the good work, we need families like yours.

As the son of a farmer, I can’t wait to take over the farm and experience a proud moment like this. Brother and sister working together brought a huge smile to my face.

Sorry for the loss of your grandmother sending prayers to the family. It’s great watching your kid’s work with you on the farm. In fact it’s great watching any kid work on the farm with the family. God bless

Part of me was hoping we'd get to see the kids run some equipment during harvest this year. They did so great last year, and they did phenomenally again this time. Awesome to see everyone jump in and help get stuff done.
Condolences to you and yours on the loss of your grandmother.

Sorry for your family's loss. Though she may have left this mortal world we pray one day you'll see her again. But her legacy continues on through you and your family. Y'all are raising some good kids and raising them right. God Bless your family!
