You know, Alec had to have been really depressed if you think about it. He gave up everything for his family, did everything they asked, hid who he was, only to have them not care. Yeah he made decisions that sometimes deserved to be ignored. But when Clary ran off from the institute, Alec got blamed by Jace. Jace blamed him when Clary got taken.
