I am not a honey person, not something I have ever hugely enjoyed but I find something visually interesting in watching the flow hive harvests. What I find most daft are the criticisms from other beekeepers who don't use them, some more valid then others. It certainly seems a fairly logical system for preventing interfering with the bee's and the ones who say "oh well you can't check all capped you won't be sure quality/that its ready.well all such things come out in the end, the result is the ultimate thing This tech will be improved. prices will come down, lessons learnt.certainly fascinating.
I was watching another channel w flow hives. When he "cracked open" the flow he just put the tool/"key" in about three to five inches and turned the "key" then pushed it in another 3-5 inches and continued until the end of it's reach, it opened easy as pie. This might help you in the future. I am enjoying your channel, just wish you could put more out there. You are doing something I wished I had done 30 years ago. Good Job. Remember, Safety First!
+Hilden Johns Hello and welcome. I cracked the second frame open in smaller increments, it really does work better that way. I hope to put more out as time goes on. I haven't yet mastered the juggling act but I really enjoy putting things out there. I'm glad to know that it is well received. Thank you.
Bee's are one of the biggest hero in this planet! They carry pollen between the flowers and help nature to give new births. And help all species are living. They are saving our life 😉 Also they give Honey as a big bonus to humanbeing.
Excellent work, just a thought if you haven't already done this. But I found some elbow joints that I attach to the flow tube and then a cover that connects to that goes on my Mason jars. This way the honey is protected as it prevents anything from getting into the jar expect the honey.
That's really impressive! I will not set any expectation on my end for next year but I will clearly enjoy whatever the amount of honey I get. Keep up your good work.
excellent that was cool to watch I envy you and the mrs for taking the chance living a good life . How is the yurt coming along ? I look forward to more videos !!!!
+carl snow Thank you. We are recording an update today on the progress of the yurt, you can expect to see it sometime during the first part of next week.
This is awesome!!! I didn't realize y'all got that much honey last year! I wish my parents knew about this method when they were beekeeping... hopefully this year will be successful as well..
Hello Simple Ground. I'm hearing from several beekeepers that they are finding it impossible to clean the Flow Frames after like 4 years of use. Like they have tried everything. Do you have any ideas. I was just thinking to clean them every year. But I would love to hear if you had any ideas. Thanks so much
The flow hive kit that looks like the one I have is $700 from their website. A quick look at amazon shows a good look alike for $350. It looks good to me. I'll leave the link.
The reason for the bees going after your beard is because it is dark color "fur" like a predator that would want to destroy their hive. Therefore they will attempt to protect their hive from the "attacker"
The hive and bees still need to be properly managed and taken care of as they normally would. The flow hive is just a different way to harvest the honey then normal frames.
Flow hive Allahumma shali wa salim wa barikh ala Sayyidina Muhammadin wa'ala ali Sayyidina Muhammadin fil awwalin wal akhirin wa fil mala'il a'la ila Yaumiddin
I do regular hive checks like other beekeepers. Maybe a little more than normal because I need the education that the bees give every time I open the hive. When I see the capped cells on the edges I know that the bees are following their normal pattern of filling and capping from the center of the frame out. It is also cool to know that, if you so desire, you can remove the frame from the hive and empty empty it from a bench top somewhere and then you would know for sure that it is all capped.
+Chaudhary Mukesh So that is a highly variable question. It depends on the type of bees, the flowers available, the weather conditions, and other factors. It isn't common to harvest honey the first year like I did. I should also mention that a flow hive wouldn't really produce more or less than a langstroth hive so you could think through those numbers.
Honey Allahumma shali wa salim wa barikh ala Sayyidina Muhammadin wa'ala ali Sayyidina Muhammadin fil awwalin wal akhirin wa fil mala'il a'la ila Yaumiddin
The bee/s will be upset with a host roaming around their hive making noise and with his/her scent. Never have animals around your bees, especially when you harvest. Job well done otherwise.
I’m tipping the knockoff you’re touting here infringes Flow’s patents and is likely a Chinese rip-off... Remember, the Flow creators spent years in Byron Bay Australia developing this idea. Rewarding people who illegally copy hinges just dampens entrepreneurs and creativity. Now if someone comes up with an improvement over the original, then that’s a different story. Ripping off other people’s creativity and passing it off as your own shouldn’t be rewarded though...
Wow, this comment has gotten a great deal of attention. When you first made the comment I thought you were talking about the actual knockoff that I referenced in a different comment not the hive in the video. I can assure you that the hive in the video is a true flow hive. It is from the original crowdfunding campaign. It came with the promotional bee veil the signed letter and the whole nine yards. The hive in the video is genuine.
Yeah unfortunately Buzz Lightyear isn't the brightest light bulb on the tree. Still waiting for buzz to list the things on this hive that indicate it's a knockoff.
Having a honey harvest like this the first year is pretty amazing to me, plus we did have a mad rush of honey in just a few weeks. Check the previous video in the series.
+somanath wagh For a full hive system they can range from $500- $700 individual components can me less expensive if you have bee boxes already. If you follow the link in the description of this video you will see more information on pricing and options.
everytime i watch the honey coming down i want to start bee keeping
Every time I see honey coming out and down, I want to lie down beneath it and open my mouth...
Take out a 100 dollar bill out of your wallet. Burn it. If you cry afterwards you are not ready to become a beekeeper XD
I love how the light is hitting perfectly on the one he is opening at 03:05

+Simon Forget I am surprised and happy. I hear that it is a little more common around my area but still impressive work for the bees.
@@Simplegroundlife how did u know that the cells in the middle of the flowframe were properly capped before turning the bar and extracting??
That's really cool, I plan to get a flow hive this Spring. I was wondering: Do you have any tips or do's and don't s?

This is awesome!!! I didn't realize y'all got that much honey last year! I wish my parents knew about this method when they were beekeeping... hopefully this year will be successful as well..
I know this is an old video just wondering how your flow hive is doing now
We first started using flow frames in 2016 and they are still in the same shape and working order. :)

Can you tell me what is the cost for the flow hive
The flow hive kit that looks like the one I have is $700 from their website. A quick look at amazon shows a good look alike for $350. It looks good to me. I'll leave the link.
For Australia amozon is is 989 AU dollars for 6 frame
About 650 in the US
Thanks
Do you think that This new honey flow hive could be fitted for all local honey bees races i e in different countries?
Thanks for quick reply
I don't have the answer to that. I'm not that experienced at beekeeping yet.
I knew that that one bee would come back to sting him
The reason for the bees going after your beard is because it is dark color "fur" like a predator that would want to destroy their hive. Therefore they will attempt to protect their hive from the "attacker"
+Yeet It is very true.
I thought it was because he was robbing them blind
Or cuz he swatted at it
I thought because there's usually beeswax in a lot of beard products now. Thanks for explaining
How do you keep your goats from knocking over the bee hive
is this a fully automated way of producing honey? what work do you do around the bees except harvesting the honey ?
The hive and bees still need to be properly managed and taken care of as they normally would.
The flow hive is just a different way to harvest the honey then normal frames.
am from india this type of beehive available in online
I live in the Philippines and i really want to make a bee hive near the house
Xprt Punk They're a lot easy to beekeeping at tropical country but don't make it too close to your house
So cool makes me want to get one
Flow hive

I don't see how you can know when the honey is all ready ? the edges are capped yes, but how about in the centre ?
I do regular hive checks like other beekeepers. Maybe a little more than normal because I need the education that the bees give every time I open the hive. Thanks for the info , my brain didn't think of taking it out ha ha All the best
how much honey can we get in how many days from a flow hive
+Chaudhary Mukesh So that is a highly variable question. It depends on the type of bees, the flowers available, the weather conditions, and other factors. Very informational thanks

Fantastic.
its sooo expensive on amazon in Australia
Bee keeping is expensive in general. Around here you need about 1k USD to get started with standard Langsworth. That stinks when you are a newbie.
Here's my experience using both the original Flow Hive and the Chinese copy and some ideas: ruclips.net/video/lVkyC-i1K0k/видео.html

8:24 "informational"? You mean 'informative'? ;-)
Odd no bees going for the honey.. almost seems fake .. you do know by turning frames over honey runs out . No need to spend 700 bucks
...
Is your beard dark?
$700
The bee think your a bear.

the flow hive pictured in this video is definitely a genuine flow hive. I own 6 and know them well. the fakes look quite different.
Go cry. People who believe in intellectual property are retards.
dean nelson hate to tell ya champ... knockoff... 😉
(You do know the guys selling the knockoffs also knock off the logo right...?🤦♂️)

Ha ha.. It's obvious that ur not a pro beekeeper since ur afraid of their stings.

somanath wagh not worth it. Might as well purchase honey straight from farmers. It’s a hobby item.
