It's essentially mid season but it's generally un important and relaxed. It's like a mini vacation for the guys who get picked and they just try not to get injured lmao.

It's basically what we did to LeBron when I lived in Detroit. LeBron singlehandedly defeated the Pistons in the playoffs in the 2000s. 2006-09 Is what I'm remembering.LeBron would score at will against one of the toughest defenses in the league.

Originally it was just East vs West for the All Star Game, and while it still is the same amount of players from each side, now the top vote getter from each conference becomes the Captain of the squad and they pick their teams schoolyard style. After the passing of Kobe, they decided to revamp the All Star Game to make it more competitive because as you guys alluded to, it’s an exhibition game and after a while most guys weren’t really making an effort( made the game boring ). Now each quarter is counted separately, whoever wins the quarter outright wins money for that team captains chosen charity. Until the 4th quarter where you add 24(Kobe’s number) to the team with the most points by the end of the third. In this case the target score became ‘163’. It’s been implemented well, and it actually makes the final quarter of the game exciting now because the players have a lot more to play for.

  • @rfmmike6096

With the addition of the target score there is now intensity at the end of the game. teams are relaxed and don't really try on defense but it ramps up at the end

I’m pretty sure for this game also, every point for Steph was a donation to Cleveland Schools:
$1000 for each point (he scored 50)
$3000 for each 3 pointer (he made 16)
$10000 if he won MVP (he did)
So overall he made $108000 during the game to donate to Cleveland’s school district

Steph made all us basketball fans believe that he could make 16 three’s in a game before this, while he was chasing the all time career record. We tuned in for about a week and a half, and then he made the record setting shot in New York. He proved he could literally do it in a single (non-regulation) game this night.
As for the boo’s, the ASG was in Cleveland that year, and Steph and the Warriors had beaten
the hometown Cavaliers team 3 out of 4 Finals recently. So despite the fact that he was actually born in Akron Ohio, he was considered a public enemy.
Greatness won out though, and they were cheering his greatness by the end

So for the allstar game, recently they, made that the first 3 quarter are played as individual totals. if you win quarter, you win money for charity.
going into the fourth quarter, you see what the overall score is.
    Team Durant- 45, 49, 45 = 139
    Team Lebron - 47,46,45 = 138
You add 24 to the team that's leading, and that's both teams target score.
