- Music & lyrics written by Consuelo Velasquez of Mexico in 1941. According to Velasquez, the song was inspired by an aria from an opera by Enrique Granados, a Spanish composer and pianist of classical music. Played by Trio Los Panchos, whether this was the first version I'm not sure but I found this version is the best version I've ever heard so far, particularly their outstanding guitar arrangement.

My father used to say that this was his favorite group was Trio Los Panchos and his favorites songs were Besame Mucho, Solamente Una Vez, plus so many others. Today is 10/14/2020, it is his birthday and I'm playing for him all of his favorite songs. He was born Federico Calixto Luque Vega, on October 14, 1924, Matanzas, Cuba, and he passed away on September 23, 1985. Thank you papi for your love, your patience, and wisdom.

My father used to work in an elegant spanish restaurant called Alba Cocina Española and they have their own mariachi similar to Trio Los Panchos . I love listening to their music.

When my grandmother was younger, she used to sing a lot. although she wasn't a professional singer, she would step up in every occasion and sing. One of her most favorite songs to sing was this one. I especially remember one time when we had a family event and she sang this song. A year ago, she passed away. In her funeral I stepped up to say some words about her, and singed her favorite song "besame mucho". Through the singing I understood what I was saying: kiss me, kiss me a lot like this night is the last time. I felt like this romantic love song couldn't be a better way to say goodbye to such a vivid person as her.

Mi hermano estuvo por cuestiones de trabajo en Japón, en Tanuma, Tochigi en la actualidad se fusionó con Sano, pero me comentaba que el Trío Los Panchos era muy escuchado y admirado en Japón, de hecho logró comprar un album de ellos que aquí en México no existe, algo que llena de orgullo es que un grupo musical Mexicano sea escuchado por la gente de Japón

Arley. La cancion la compuso Consuelo Velazquez en 1940. Despues se la piratearon para mal traducirla en ingles y la pudieran cantar otros artistas. Creo q hubo dos versiones en ingles. Pedro infante canta una y los beatles otra. Pero la cancion es 100% mexicana.

You are right...this is the best, the most beautiful version of Besame Mucho I have ever heard. That first time was as an eight year-old boy during WWII, sung by my brother on a floppy plastic record and sent to my sister who had complained he didn't write home often enough. Fast forwarding 15 years, the little boy was now in the Army, in peace time and, serving in Central America. Now his leisure was spent learning to play guitar and learning these lyrics in Spanish. It was then that I heard Trio Los Panchos singing this version at a music shop...and darn near cried at the exquisite guitar of Guaro Gil and the pure harmony that he, Navarro and Avile's wove...I have never heard better in all my years.

In the winter of 2003, I was dating a beautiful Polynesian-American girl who had moved from Saipan to SoCal just before I met her. We had a brief but very romantic time together that winter.
One late night, as I was leaving her apartment, she whispers in my ear “When I’m with you, I always think of a song that was my mom’s favorite when I was young, and I love the song too… Besame Mucho, by Trio Los Panchos…” I’d never heard the song. So I said “Tell me why you think of me when you listen to it?” And she just said “No, you’ll need to listen to it to know…” and she kissed me.
Naturally, the moment I got home, I looked it up online and found this version of the song. OMG, I think I actually fell in love with her a little after I listened to it many times, and after I looked up the translation from Spanish to English. Beautiful song, best version of it, and such a great romantic memory of a brief but passionate time.
