Let me give you a brief history before dropping similar soundtracks. The sound is from Port Harcourt in Nigeria. The sound is generally referred to as “Ogele”, the beat pattern is referred to as “Charley”. Charley is the name of a local drummer who made the beat popular. Back in the days some of our parents saw the “ogele boys” as cultists due to the cultural “rituals” associated with the young men who played it during special cultural events. Although nobody ever came forward to prove that. Having said that, there were a lot of local cultural groups who played these kind of sounds. There sounds are hardly online as recording them back then wasn’t a thing. However, a group and an individual I’m personally familiar with got their tracks online. Those 2 precede this group. They are Royal Boys of Rumuodumaya and Peter Stone Cold (Pero Stone cold). Peter now plays only gospel music. Enjoy.
