Just finished learning the song. I don't actually play guitar properly, so I haven't learnt the theory, so I have just been learning patterns. I'm not sure if this is a good approach to self-taught guitar, but hey, it's still fun, and you train your memory skills 👍🏻

Never too late to learn guitar! This is a tough song to try straight out of the gates, but just like you've done is a great idea. Break down the parts into smaller sections, leave out what you have to, or come back later 😊

Good work! This is still a difficult fingerstyle song, although the orginal is even harder cause it has alot of advanced techniques played in different positions. If you get this down though you're well on your way 😄

I thank you for this tutorial!! I have had a guitar for years but never did much with it other than playing the major chords in various random arrangements as a ralaxation technique. Now as an old guy I have been practicing this song for probably 3 months off and on. Never played notes before other than the C scale in the first two frets. Taken a while for the brain to see Tabs rather than notes on a musical staff. I can play the entire song cleanly and at your speed except for the the second very fast portion of the introduction. Working on it! And for the life of me I cannot reproduce the sound of the first set of "triplet" notes . Its almost like you are playing a completely different note. Thanks again. Really appreciate the time and effort. I don't know if RUclips counts each of my views of your video. If it does I have added a couple thousand views.

This is probably one of my harder tabs though, this song in particular is a really good song to learn. It has so many important techniques for getting better at fingerstyle guitar 😊

Very good! You make playing guitar look so simple but to memorize this is song this way is another level of difficulty for me. Sure, I can play this song in a round about chord and pick thing that I do, but also incorporating the melody "lead" guitar as well as the bass guitar in a finger picking style is actually graduate level classical guitar playing. DANG! James plays his guitar, Kirk plays the melody, Jason plays bass. Lars is a GHOST. This is all three parts at once! Nice job! I am old now. I have my version memorized. Thanks for introducing me to "graduate level" guitar playing... I just don't have the time to be this precise. I sing the melody when I perform this song.

Hey! The trick to this is a technique called 'Hammer On' and 'Pull Off', try looking for a video on it, cause explaining here will only confuse you 😄 if you're struggling you can always play the notes normally or skip out some of the '0's.

i think this will work for me XD IM so obsessed with this song, that as a beginning when i should be doing the exercises i instead skip those and directly wanted to learn to play this song, but found the original one too dificult due ro the the horribke stretches
To be honest i think the intro to this song is really good to learn and is a great finger picking exercise which will make you better at pretty much all styles of guitar. But yeah the orginal has some non beginner friendly stuff in it 😅 goodluck!

This is a good question! So what i'm doing in that part is called a 'Harmonic' and they're played by lightly touching the string over the metal fret between the 12th and 13th fret in this case. I just forgot to put the markings in, because this is an older video 😅

i think this will work for me XD IM so obsessed with this song, that as a beginning when i should be doing the exercises i instead skip those and directly wanted to learn to play this song, but found the original one too dificult due ro the the horribke stretches
To be honest i think the intro to this song is really good to learn and is a great finger picking exercise which will make you better at pretty much all styles of guitar. But yeah the orginal has some non beginner friendly stuff in it 😅 goodluck!

This is a good question! So what i'm doing in that part is called a 'Harmonic' and they're played by lightly touching the string over the metal fret between the 12th and 13th fret in this case. I just forgot to put the markings in, because this is an older video 😅
