I thought the normal size will be the best of both worlds but it’s too big to comfortably type and too small for productivity so I switched to iPad mini and iPad 12.9” so I can use the same pencil, which also makes a great external second display for a MacBook Pro 14”. And the mini fits in my day sling which is awesome.

About multitasking, it’s not about doing different things at the same time, it’s about singletasking with multiple windows. If you use a safari window with a note window, you are singletasking, using multitasking features ! My last iPad was a plain ol' 6th gen which I bought with a Logitech keyboard and a 1st gen Apple Pencil, and I was unimpressed: I gave it to my wife who still intermittently uses it to this very day.
This time I bought an 11" iPad Pro 512 GB with Cellular, a Magic Keyboard, and a Pencil Pro and I _love_ this thing.
Most consumer workflows don't use multithreaded apps, and the best determinant for how snappy a computer is the single core speed - and that makes this thing the snappiest computer in the world for normal tasks, even though it lives in a pane of glass. It has a Promotion display which means it can ramp up to 120 hz, and using the Magic Keyboard gestures I can power through navigation at lightning speed. I really didn't need the Pencil because keyboard navigation is so good, but it's nice to have when I detach the iPad from the Magic Keyboard.
The display is the best display I have in the house, and between that and the speed of the M4 SoC this thing is bright, light, and blindingly fast. I can heave the iPad, Magic Keyboard, and pencil into a sleeve and be out and about computing whether there's wifi nor not, and this package makes my 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro feel like a boat anchor.

I dabbled with the 11inch Pro back in 2018 but eventually found it too big and heavy for ebook reading and casual one handed tasks but also too cramped for multi tasking and productivity so I went with having two iPads instead. While it is quite expensive, it’s what works with me and I’m sticking with it for the long term. (I’m planning on trading in my Mini 6 to the 7 if they indeed announce a new one in a few days)

As far as multitasking goes, split screen is the best. Sometimes you need two screens to get one thing done. Two is enough now, and with the calculator app coming to iPad sometimes one will be enough. The only problem is that most apps don’t seem seem to support it.
