Okay pals, tell me I'm not the only one who has such a difficult time with rubber stamps!

Great idea to stamp on scraps of paper, cut them out and just adhere them to your page! Great way to use up scraps and make them fabulous! My Mom and I were all about the wood-mounted rubber stamps 20 years ago, only recently discovered the acrylic blocks and "peel and stick" stamps--blew my mind! But, I still have a need to use the hundreds of dollars worth of wood-mounted rubber stamps (stored under my bed, because, yes, there are that many) for sentimental reasons! Also, Planner-Oriented Stamps did not exist 20 years ago, so for someone who can't draw, these are fabulous! Goodness, so many resources!

Stamping on separate paper was what finally got me to use these! Takes the pressure way off. Your stamp collection sounds amazing! What are your favorite ones?

@@JournalSunshine I have a lot of Victorian florals and flourishes, so those are probably my favorites, but I also have two dozen Kewpie stamps because I have been collecting Kewpie dolls since I was a kid, and I recently bought several farm animal stamps to embrace my new life in the country (especially fond of donkeys and cows.) I also have a stamp that looks like the old Library cards (LOL, you are probably too young to remember those) and recipe cards, which I use for To Do lists and journaling spots. I am going to check out the planner stamps! I have one set, but could always use more!

I used to like playing with rubber stamps as a kid. Acrylic stamps look like a fun new way to use stamps. I haven’t yet decorated any journaling pages yet, but I like the idea and I just remembered that I have some stickers that I haven’t known what to do with yet.

I've never had much experience with stamps and to see these clear stamps is really eye-opening. It really makes me want to get a set myself and nerd out in my journals! Thank you for sharing this video and giving tips with the stamps, gonna add these to my stationary wish list and hopefully share them one day c:

I really wanted to get into them for a long time but was really intimidated until recently. I hope the tips helped the medium feel more approachable!

@@JournalSunshine Yes and also to see what the stamp would look like in the journal before stamping. Or a sticker to cover it up like I’m sure we’ve all done haha

I love the Currently Seals idea for the 5 year journal - I kept one from 2011-2015 and having prompts once in a while would have livened it up for sure. I'm thinking of doing that again, so I'll keep this in mind!

Wow, I’m impressed! I barely made it three years in my last 5 year journal. Trying again now though!

@@JournalSunshine There were plenty of gaps in mine, but the days when I had a note for all five years made it worth the haphazard effort.

Oh thank you! I bought a set of these because they were so cute but I wasn't sure how to use them, and this will definitley make me more confident.

    • @JournalSunshine

Ahh yay, I’m glad I could help! For me, it took 1. stamping on separate paper and cutting out the good ones to paste into my journal and then 2. stamping in one of my messier notebooks so it wasn’t a big deal if it looked weird. Eventually, I built up more confidence and now I stamp in my planner too!

I have so many traditional rubber stamps and it used to really bug me that I could never get the placement JUST right, but now I use them when I want that sort of imperfect feel

You don’t actually have to clean those stamps, leaving them inked is fine. Tim Holtz, who is the current stamping crafter king, says he never cleans his stamps, just stamp off on scrap paper a couple times if you really need too and put them away. I generally use the clear lid of my ink pad as a stamping block instead of bothering with getting something else out.

Check out the “Stamp Shammy” from a company called Lawn Fawn. With just water you can clean off your stamps and it is amazingly perfectly clean each time. So simple! Lawn Fawn is an amazing company if you like cute critters and other similar things. They have a HUGE presence in the card making community here on RUclips.

Wow, that sounds amazing! I’ll have to check it out for sure. Thank you so much for the recommendation! Now that I’m less nervous to use stamps, I may venture out a bit more.
