Fun fact. There was actually a live gator pit, as you just pass the lowering gate! I remember them being pretty solid 3 to 4 ft gators 🤯 as if it already wasn’t scary enough to go on this coaster at 12 yrs old lol

There was a silly rumor for many years that they were removed because a gator “jumped up and bit a rider” 🤣🤣 but the real reason is that they were too hard to maintain in that location due to the ride being in constant operation throughout the day.

Montu is a great inverted coaster! Rode it back in 2013 when I came to Florida on holiday with family from England, we went in April to avoid the summer crowds, and there were NO queues for anything really. Got to ride it half a dozen times over and over again in the front row! 😂
before the ride has been built, they rely on force guidelines and carefully planned out clearances to make sure it won't kill anyone by cerebral hypoxia or high-speed amputation once the ride has been built, they send through trains filled with water dummies and measure the forces and clearances that result, and they may adjust the ride accordingly while the ride is operating, they use various method to streamline the process of checking for stress and general wear and tear. I got to see an exposed bolt on a wing coaster train that was marked with a sharpie line at the procedural torque requirement, allowing an inspector to quickly see if the bolt is coming loose
