Dazzling collection Nat! Oh my - I loved seeing all your gems! 💎 You’re so knowledgeable-I have so much to learn, but I do learn so much from you.
Sadly I think I made a bad purchase. I found a crystal shop about 25 miles from my house. I went there, and it was overwhelming. All these gorgeous stones everywhere I looked! I’d never seen such a display! I bought a citrine geode. Now I know that it’s not citrine. Sigh… it’s yellow in color, it’s very beautiful and very sparkly. I charged it under the full moon 2 nights ago. But I think I heard you say citrine does not form as a geode. It’s a decent size -about 1/2 the size of the amethyst geode you showed in the video. I paid $27. I think I’ve been had. 🤦‍♀️What is your opinion?
This video was NOT boring! I plan to watch it many more times. ❤

Thank you, Cathy. As to your geode: well, the bad news is that it isn't a citrine. It is a heated treated amethyst that turned yellow due to, so to say, "manual " heating. A good news is that it is still a real crystal, which is amethyst. Remember we were talking about crystal enhancement: dyed, irradiated, heated - it is up to you to decide whether it OK with you or not. I don't mind enhancement (as I mentioned in the video, I do like irradiated citrine...and some dyed crystals as well) but I think that the sellers should be honest and label the crystals if they were enhanced. I may believe that when it comes to dyed crystals, especially beads, sometimes it is hard to say, so sellers might not know. But heat treated citrine in geodes is a common knowledge and a must to know for those who sell the crystals. If you liked heat treated citrine, you would still buy it (many people like it even knowing that it was heated by people) but labeling it as such should also be a must.
And, many gemologists do not separate manually heat treated citrines from natural ones. But again - natural do not form in geodes.

@@DiamondPaintingbyNat Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I do love the geode. It is so sparkly. And it is a genuine amethyst so I guess I’m ok with it. It’s still a natural stone. I just don’t understand why there’s a need to heat treat it. Amethyst is already so beautiful. I would have purchased it if were still purple and not yellow. Oh well, it’s all part of the learning process. I do love the stone. It will be the ‘red headed step-child’ in my collection 🤣 🤣🤣
I wish I could send you a photo of it.

@@DiamondPaintingbyNat PS Google Lens says it’s a Yellow Chrysanthemum stone. Now I’m really confused 😂😂😂

No, that stone looks absolutely different. As to why it is heattreated: usually amethyst of not a good quality are heat treated (like super pale purple or "dirty" purple) since they are least likely to be purchased in their original form.

@@DiamondPaintingbyNat ahh that makes total sense. But the stone is pretty and super sparkly so I decided I will love it all the same! Thanks again Nat for sharing your wisdom with this beginner 😘
