Yes, it certainly is. This is probably my favorite version of Pinocchio, because he actually saves the donkeys and boys from being sold off. Besides, Lampwik is his friend.
This is a scene I wish the Disney-version had. I guess it makes the story flow a bit faster without it, but I think it displays Geppettos love/passion for carpentry, mirroring the love he has for his son.
It's the simple care and dedication to moments like this that keep bringing up memories of this movie. Seeing the 2022 one and some of the reviews and things people suggest or complain could have made it better, I keep thinking how this version may be far from perfect, but it has charm and practicality that addresses a lot of those complaints. Like I keep thinking if I want to watch a live action version, this one is pretty great. Made me want to watch it again so I've been finding clips all day 😂
I always thought my Grandpa was the original Geppetto. He was the master of wood work, he even made me a hope chest with my name on it. I miss him every day. I love you Grandpa. He was my Grandpa, but I always thought of him as my papa.
Ricco heartbreaking the day he died. Very comedic and very good actor. The original Mission Impossible, before we even had Tom Cruise. Yes indeed R.I.P. he will be missed 😭
I love this scene. It’s simple, but powerful and essential. We already knew, but it really shows Geppetto’s skill, passion and love for wood carving. 0:50 to 2:36 He’s got a real gift.
I remember this movie since I have memory. We have yet the movie in VHS format. Always it brings me childhood memories and now it has another and more deep meaning with the relationship father-son since my father passed away. For me, a marvelous adaptation
This version of pinocchio is a very special part of my childhood because Geppetto reminds me of my grandad who has sadly passed away last year due to lung cancer he always reminded me of Geppetto and grandpa Joe from willy Wonka he always had that witty, charismatic personality RIP grandad I will miss you loads ❤😢
I always found the process of making the puppet satisfying. I really like the part at 1:11 with those sounds! I don't know what that's all about at 1:51 though. And then at 2:30 where he paints!
As much as I like the 2022 version, this 1992 version impresses me for all the amazing practical affects on Pinocchio. Why couldn't the 2022 version do that instead of CGI (even when he's a lifeless puppet)?
This is way better than the Pinocchio 2022 “Live Action “ remake that just came out
I know right landu was so much better than hanks and his accent was way better
This version of Pinocchio was part of my childhood, I used to love this movie ^^
And Guillermo Del Toro's version made it terrifying
Yes, it certainly is. This is probably my favorite version of Pinocchio, because he actually saves the donkeys and boys from being sold off. Besides, Lampwik is his friend.
This was my favorite Pinocchio movie before the 2022 one
I love when he paints the eyes for some reason.
Did you know that a few months later after this video was published on RUclips the guy who played Geppetto in this film died?
It’s the theme for me
What’s the theme for you?
@@trevorsheehan1757 the background music as he paints his eye

I agree. This is a simple, yet powerful and essential scene. I think this is my favorite version of Pinocchio.
Love watching him create him in the 2022 stop motion movie
I remember watching this with my grandma. Brings back the memories
Love your profile of Alpha dude. She is cool!💙🤝
Viking watched it with my grandad. Bought it for me vhs back when those were still alive lol 😝 he reminds me of gepetto. 90 going on 91 this January
Same.
Marcelo câmara Medeiros that’s cool!
Marcelo câmara Medeiros that’d be awesome!!!

I would argue that this version is better than the animated Disney version not just the recent live action remake
This is the best version! It made me so emotional as a kid
I liked it too.
say,did you check out the 2019 adaption?
@@systemshocker2875 I heard of it. But never seen it. It looked great.
@@theintrovertedaspie9095 as far as it looks, imo its the most faithful adaption to the original story.
@@systemshocker2875 I hear Disney is making a live action remake of Pinnochio. Have you heard of that?
I remember rewinding this over and over when I was younger to listen to it.
Bro same!! 😭
Yeah, I also like rewinding it almost entirely for the purpose of just hearing the sounds of it happening
At 2:11 lol Funny how Pinochio blew the wood dust out of his mouth at the cat. Cat was like what the hell 😄
Puncho Villa funniest part lol tht reaction
I used to watch this all the time with my dad before he died rest in peace
moonwalker_fam sorry for your loss
This was my favorite adaptation as a kid. Used to make me so emotional 🥹
This Pinocchio was voiced by Jonahan Thomas Taylor, the same actor who voiced Simba as a Cub. From Virginia 🐉🐦☺❤🐂
I didn't know he's from Virginia
As much as I doubt that much wood could produce all those parts, this is an incredibly fun and relaxing scene to watch.
Not judging you, but this has a 27% on rotten tomatoes and for some reason people think this came out in 2000
@@thehumenthing8504 Nothing prompted that.
I wondered that as well tbh. Then again this movie has a lot of unanswered questions with all the weird stuff it shows

Good ol childhood classic 💞 I even like this version better than the Disney cartoon.
I remember I watch this when I was little. Brings back memories
The Disney version will always be nistolgic to me, but I'm sorry this version is better
For nothing
This is a part of my childhood
me too!!
I love this Film, made me laugh and cry.
I love the lingering shot at the end!
Definitely an underrated gem
I want to say this version is better than the 2022 Disney’s live action version
I agree with you
Ah the memories
Steven Hodge Jr Very true, I could watch this many times I want.
Same
Frfr 🥺
This is actually how it happens in the original story
I love the character Pinocchio like a brother.
Martin Landau was somewhat heartwarming as Geppetto
The cat is so cute!
Nina is the cat's name😊
This sure beats Disney's new life action remake.
I love that the heart was left on Pinocchio’s chest

Mine too I can't imagine why anybody would hate on this movie I thought this was the best version of Pinocchio I remember owning it on VHS as a kid
映画冒頭の木が折れるとこもそうだけどキラキラしてるとこや手や足が動くとこがちゃんとゼペットさんの分からないとこで起きてるのがなんか好きです笑w
This is my FAVOURITE version of pinocchio. The Disney one fkn scares me to shreds
“Occhi Magnifico” ❤👀💙
So wrong! Occhi Magnifici

Sooooo this movie is on Vudu right now....for free! You're welcome
That cat looks adorable. It may seem like a female version of Figara that is a male cat, but I love this cat. It looks so cute. ^^
My grandmother showed me this as kid rest in peace grandmother frankie ❤
1:19
EXTREME CLOSE UP! WWOOOOOOOOOUUUUUWWWW
I just surprised how the camera didn't got showed from the reflection of Geppeto's glasses.
When i first watched this movie i was creeoed out by pinnochio's walking and movements
Just now realizing how much this puppet LOOKS like JTT did at that time. 😆

0:52 - 1:41. I like that music.
@VHS Yah. Rachel Portman did a great job.
Even Martin landau was better than Tom hanks his emotions feel so genuine and enjoyable to watch
2:11 LOL 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Cat: OUCH!
Yay thank you so much for this
NOSTALGIAAAA
God rest your soul Martin Landau.
I don't know why this film is so hated.
Because Pinocchio is frickin terrifying
It’s kinda creepy. I didn’t think so as a kid, but now I see why when you compare it to the cartoon version
@Brandon Brooks *shame
Even before Pinocchio was created the log litterly jumped
My favorite version of Pinocchio
This is better than the new one tbh
Pinocchio is the voice of Jonathan Thomas Taylor, like Simba and Spot.
1:56, 1:59 Feet is blue🦶💙
유하선 because of the moon
This version is a bit different than the Disney version for one. There is no blue fairy to bring Pinocchio to life.
what ab the bath scene and when he was eating cake >:(
I used to watch the movie just for this scene lol

1000% better and authentic, as the new pinocchio movie from disney. to much cgi. this movie makes me feel turn back to my childhood
