Kudos for mentioning the privacy/security concerns, and the eventual landfill end for devices like these. Feels like a lot of people simply don’t consider those aspects.
You can only combat them by buying cheap ones really, like I like my galaxy buds live so much I buy 3of them, as they can be found for under 40$ a pop.
I agree. But I'd suggest it's the same with more local makes. Samsung apple and Google etc..
Galaxy Buds app asks for just as many permissions
So goddamn annoying
Unfortunately buying more, cheaper true wireless buds doesn’t really solve the landfill problem. And yeah all the apps will need BT/Wireless scanning at a minimum to assist with connecting to the buds. It’s the Location and additional permissions that we as consumers should be pushing back against…
The risk is certainly there, however it's easy to say this because it's a chinese product. All of the other apps we use on a daily basis do this that's the hard truth.
I do have a question though about these buds. Do you need to use the app on a onplus less phone? If you don't need the app for use on a samsung for example I am very interested in these.
"You're not going to be able to replace the battery"
- sounds like a challenge my guy, nothing a bit of stubbornness and a soldering iron can't fix
I should re-phrase that lol. The average person wont be able to.
Great video! I'm sorry that you didn't have audio on the first round of filming this. I know it takes a lot of time, effort and energy to make all this happen. ❤️
Excellent video sir! I’m skipping the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 since I already have the OG Buds Pro but these still seem like a solid pickup. I wholeheartedly agree with your stance on the app permissions, though. Most people would just click “accept” on everything and ignore the real privacy implications that accepting all of these unnecessary permissions bring. Awesome job!
That transition into the merch talk was smooooth, sometimes I forget that you used to work with Linus and moments like that remind me
I know how difficult it is to produce a video of this quality. You address the concerns I'd have about a product like this, back up your points with relevant graphs and b-roll, and conclude with thoughtful advice. Thanks for going above and beyond, DMS!
I wouldn't mind seeing another headphone roundup, maybe with the wireless earbuds all compared against each other
Every wireless earbud. All of them.
It would be a great video! Hi Isaac:)
I've got the AKG N400NC, kinda curious if there's anything that's way better out there. Or, what to get next when the batteries die on them.
@@DMS3TVI'm wondering.. have you ever tried Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro? I bought a pair few days ago.
nice review! Yep, to bin pods is a shame. For this reason I chose the ibasso CF01. no noise cancelling but when going CIEM it's max isolation one could desire.
Would love to see how bluetooth earbuds stack up against iems at the same price point and below in a video
Looking forward to the mm500 video. I'm considering those for my next headphone.
Important to note that you can adjust eq in your system settings with Dolby Atmos (at least for one plus phones. Idk about other phones). Personally I find thay the movie preset actually has amazing sound for detail and sound stage, so I dont bother with the eq settings.
SO HAPPY I'VE FOUND YOUR CHANNEL 😁 The ANC is rated at 48db and some have ranked then just behind the apples best .
And as I've just purchased a OnePlus 11 , I'll look forward to your review 👍
Great review mate. I respect the fact you called out security/privacy issues, many channels don't do this. Do you have to use the app on a different android phone? can I use these buds on my Samsung Phone without having to give permission to the app?
I think i need to try these, i just bought the google pixel buds pro and they are a bit too bulky for me and im struggling to get a perfect seal, my galaxy buds 2 are fine but the touch controls are awful and only register 50% of the time. i also have the link buds S coming to try but the form factor of the "stick" style buds seems be more comfortable for people!
I had OnePlus buds z and they lasted only about 1.7 years. Its crazy to think how we don't own things anymore even after paying the full price. Companies are getting smart in selling their products. Once they get you locked in by the sound quality and other first impression stuff, they have achieved a customer for a long time.
Products like that do not produce good sound quality.
There are definitely still some headphones/tws that last, I have had the og Galaxy buds for almost 5 years now and they are still going strong. Sound good too
Cool looking case and decent looking in ears.
The search for great wireless sound quality continues.
How are voice calls or Zoom meetings with these?
Love your review of this earbuds. Have you reviewed oppo enco X2?
The cinematics are crazy as always
Thanks for the review especially on the app. Would it make sense to use a VPN when using the app? BTW, this is my first experience on your channel, and I have to say, your intro and outro music is outstanding.
Really thanks for bringing up the privacy issue of the app.
🙏🏽
I'd like to see you make a video about Virtual Surround Sound vs Stereo, while watching movies with headphones. Does anything short of the A16 Realizer cut it for VSS vs Stereo?
I have these and the ie600 and it's crazy how the OP buds compare. They are actually on par
Hi, can you tell me little bit more about it? Like mid, treble and separation?
I also have the IE600. The OP Buds don't sound nearly as good..... This is 100% a paid review.
the app needs those permissions because it sends position to google find my device in order to track the last position they were before getting disconnected
yeah, don't mind making his paranoia to be false.
Content aside, this is some S-Tier production quality!
I was thinking in regards to the app privacy issues. Would it be possible to Install the App make your adjustments as needed and then remove permissions or remove the App all together?
Bit surprised you still have the speaker wall up. When is the next episode coming out were you try to make it better
please take a look at the momentum 4 I'm dying to see how good you think they are
Hey man! 🌟 First off, a big thank you for all the fantastic info you provide! I'm on the hunt for new earbuds and would love your guidance. I've got my eye on the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, but I've noticed they only support LHDC, AAC, and SBC codecs. My Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, supports AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC, LC3, and Opus.
I'm curious if the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 will deliver a great experience on the AAC codec (I read a rumor about an LC3 codec update too). If not, do you have any recommendations in the ballpark of 150 EUR? Sound quality, volume, and solid bass are my top priorities. Multi-connectivity is a plus for me too. Thanks a bunch! 🙌
Compared to the nothing ear2; what do you think?
Iirc, Local area access, bluetooth access, and Location is needed for Bluetooth Low Power mode.
love your videos man, can you please suggest a good pair budget headphones that i can buy in india.(wired is cool but not studio long)
DMS, did you happen to measure the one plus on a macbook, I know someone else noticed that his macbook made bluetooth devices cut off around 16000hz, besides airpods
Also I'm not much of an audio tech guy, but does the sudden cut over 17k in the frequency response cause any aliasing artifacts or something like that? There are also these very pronounced bumps between 0-4k.
Great review. The permissions that the earphones' app is asking for, does the OP11 ask for shady permissions like those? Would like your review to look at the phone from the POV.
The OP11 does also ask for shady permissions (in general) without the earphones. I had to manually disable certain services to stop the constant probing pop-ups in ADB shell.
The good thing about BT headphones is they save EQ settings internally. So the usual advice with those 'pound of flesh' invasive apps is install, set your preferred EQ, then uninstall the spyware asap lol
How do they compare to the link buds s and the wf xm4s? Or the sound quality of samsung buds pro 1 and 2
Nice hear about privacy issues.
More TWS reviews pls
First person I've heard mention the privacy concerns. Thank you for that. I always feel like I'm the weird one clicking on - Don't Allow all the time.
Have you try Wavelet?
I'm on my third pair of Jabra Elite 85Ts because I've lost them too many times.
They've been here for years yet no earbuds can surpass them when it comes to drivers. It's kinda hilarious
What's the alternative for us that can't stand the silicone tips?
I already have XM4s , M50x , and nothing 1 , but i do have a oneplus phone , do u think this earphone would be worth the purchase or just use the existing pairs ? would appreciate a response :)
do they have an ambient mode and how well does it work? constantly have music playing at work, but I need to hear if others call me, so that's very important to me
What is a similar earbud to the encafire g20’s? They don’t make them anymore and they are my absolute favourites for training…. So tired of trying and buying so many that don’t even come close to the G20’s 😢
That does sound sketchy. Do you need the app to use any of the HD codecs?
These or One Plus Buds 3, have you tried them?
Thanks for the amazing review! Did you feel that the sub-bass was boomy? I felt like it lingers around and the impact is much less than the first gen which makes it not as enjoyable for me
Not with most of my music but I absolutely believe that it could be.
For an Apple user on a budget would you recommend Oneplus buds pro 2 or Sony Linkbuds S
I am myself confused between these 2 and galaxy buds 2 pro for my iPhone 13 but I think I am gonna go for link buds s coz at least they are not limited to an ecosystem and are willing to give whole features on iOS
The app issues are interesting, especially since several Chinese phone companies were recently caught tracking their users without their permission.
yeaaaah that was my first thought
Eufy by Anker got caught as well but the situation was much much worse.
@@DMS3TV the buds do have tracking enabled so it might have wanted to have access to the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for that same for location
Can you review the lypertek tevis?
Nice, now sennheiser just needs to make a TWS IE600 and they sold me
IE200 also looks tasty
Haven't tried them tho
Use it with utws5
Neither in the title, nor in the description is an actual name or link to the product...
Wow you look like Eddie Redmayne haha. Great video and great earbuds!
That intro was sick
I'm just subscribing for the aspect ratio of the video 😁
Hey, Are there good in use with an IPhone? My Airpodspro 1gen suck now and I dont wanna buy the exact Same headphones… Good idea?
DMS can you review the Sennheiser 569
Try oppo enco x2
I think it’s a new interesting take.
Check your area as there are e-waste recycling points where those materials are captured and re-used- especially rare earth materials like neodymium.
Oh absolutely. It's just also frustrating buying a premium tech product with definitive expiration and no repair path.
@@DMS3TV Yeah that's true I feel ya. Not being able to replace batteries is a tough one too. I've been with my Audio Technica ATH-Sport7TW for years as nothing fits as well, looks as good and is much better sounding, and have a 2nd set on hand for when the power cycles on the charging case slow down. That's 2x products for 1x person. TBF they've lasted soo well (longer time than phone upgrades).
What about galaxy buds 2 pro?
Such a shame to hear about the app privacy issue. I was edging close to buying a pair until learning about this.
Same. I wonder if anything has changed.
all big tech comapnies already have your info, it doesnt even bother me anymore
Does the earbuds sound different is you connect it to a android or ios
Will Dolby atmos work on iPhones with these
Galaxy buds 2 review?
Have you ever tried sony wf-1000xm4
Do you think this sounds better than the Airpods Pro 2nd Generation ?
Those are the loudest TWS buds I have ever heard. LOUD!!
I hope these ones are louder or same than the soundpeats h1 because the 1more evos's sucks on this
What background music did you use?
Tws are 90% of my IEM use after getting my Galaxy Buds live, I realized for the most part I don't care much for sound as long as I can have background music and still be reachable, it have surprisingly good amount of bass, and it's ANC is so effective for droning noise, I actually prefer to use it over my IEM in an airplane.
Great studio setup tho
Totally with you privacy and security. I am in IT, and warn you don't need anyone else being nosy about your life. Just companies selling out. I wonder because you like these will Zeos Pantera hate these?
The app situation could be just that the app is actually asking for more permissions than it actually uses, the developer is responsible for requesting the correct permissions. Still, they should fix it regardless.
How do they sound on iPhone, knowing that IPhone doesn’t support lhdc?
I've made the decision to only buy wireless buds that are $50 or less, I just don't see a point in spending more than that on a product I will eventually have to toss.
Your B roll shots are gorgeous
Thanks! 😄
What are you editing in these days? Your color is immaculate recently.
FCP and after-effects. Thanks!
With a Samsung phone(ldac yes, lhdc no), ¿OnePlus buds 2 pro vs Nothing ear 2 Vs Samsung buds 2 pro? Thanks
Year 2023 and all headphone experts start to like the sound of the consumer class headphones.
The OnePlus design is what Apple should have went along with. Jony Ive’s vision of art goes past function to adopt a vision that lacks appeal and draws a lot of complaints. Their resistance to what we all want is still making them boatloads of revenue. I think the iconic white AirPods should finally bring stunning metallic colors to the AirPods like OnePlus and more. Theres so much to bring with wireless technology latency and high definition amplified sound.
Love your vids but they’re just silly wide. Hoping you’d consider switching to 4:3. Either way glad to learn about new audio stuff from you!
4:3 is fun. Might play around with it some, but this aspect ratio is what the average youtube viewer watches in (generally mobile phones)
I own a pair, isn’t the default EQ too bass heavy? What frequencies would you change in the EQ?
have you tried changing the bass frequencies
Hey DMS. How, in your opinion, do these compare to the Pixel Buds Pro. I'm an Android user and I was considering getting those until I saw this review
In terms of frequency response the Buds Pro from Samsung and AirPods Pro are significantly more Harman tuned than Pixel Buds Pro. Could be less detail with Pixel Buds but honestly as someone that owns XM4, Buds Pro, and AirPods Pro they’re all very similar the differences as DM notes are monitor. Wired IEMs are still the way to go if you value SQ over all else (such as convenience).
@@tcc5750 I have a bunch of wired IEMs, but I want a good sounding wireless pair with decent ANC for convenience. Stuff like commute, jogging, etc.
@Uchenna Ogbonna In that case, I can recommend the Samsung Buds2 Pro and the Apple Airpods Pro. IMO, pick Samsung if you use Android. Pick the Airpods if you use an iPhone.
Should try out Oppo enco x2.... superior than Oneplus buds pro 2
I'd expect you to have a sony or asus phone, for the headphone jack
I have an Xperia One II also. Might pick up the next sony phone.
i found that there is a standard version called one plus buds pro 2R that dosent have spatial audio and wireless charging and costs around 85 dollars. i was gonna buy the new liberty 4 NC for 85 dollars but now im torn between those 2. does the 2R version have the same audio quality of the originals ? and what would u recommend the 4NC or the oneplus buds for that price ? thanks !
4NC stock sound is absolute trash. With EQ it's aight but still sold it day 1.
Do you think they are better than their competition if you dont have a oneplus phone, but your phone still supports lhdc?
Yes, most of my time with these was on the Nothing Phone(1) and iPhone 14
I would not recommend that LED light at that place, kinda distracting due to the camera auto focus.
Its good to see BT getting better. My Galaxy Buds Pro sound like crap compared to my IE200.
No TWS will sound better than IEMs…well, except for Delta earphones.
@@Rsalmond83 What is TWS? Track While Scan?
Edit:Nvm
How will it sound better?
Your ears are broken. Lmao
@@DSRT888 in a nutshell, you get better bandwidth with wires. There are $20 IEMs that will blow $250 wireless out the water. I wouldn’t rely on wireless for music if that’s what you’re into, only convenience for call quality and hands free operation.
I bought like 10 pairs of TWS and I almost never use any of them. I end up going back to wired every time because they're always so much more reliable and I never find the need to be away from the listening device.
😆
Then why do you keep buying them? Almost 10 pairs? Are you dumb?
OnePlus buds pro 2 or soundcore liberty pro 3
waiting for the OnePlus 11 review 😅
Which is the best wireless ear buds ?
Probably the Nothing Ear (2)
While I get why you use it, I still can't get anything from compensated measurements!
I'll make an explainer going into more detail soon. I was against compensated measurements at first, and i'm still getting used to it, but the benefits will absolutely be worth it as the industry standardizes.
6 months factory warranty, what?! Most other companies are offering 2 years in some way. Jabra is offering 2 years for the cheaper Elite 3's for example. They really must be built like crap.
This is the remake of OPPO Enco x2
But oppo’s are tuned better more accurate mids
Both use same driver though
How do you do those measurements?
I use the B&K type 4128C
When you talk about the environmental factor and the batteries, you should mention companies like Redwood who offer free recycling programs for end consumers on devices that contain lithium batteries so the material doesn't get wasted. Americans send so many electronics to landfills every year that it's equivalent to thousands of whole EV batteries (and those are very big!).
I believe they purpose of the location tracking is to help locate them when lost. the fact that this isn’t just an optional thing right off the bat is kinda crazy imo
it's an optional thing
@@divyamthakur yea i worded that poorly, I mean it’s crazy that it isn’t disabled by default
Nothing ear 2 or Oneplus buds pro 2..? which one sounds better..?
Any conclusion? Can't decide.
