I follow your Patreons and the number seems to be growing. I hope for Christmas a lot of viewers decide to get on board as a patreon to one of if not the best channels on RUclips. Great video guys. Keep up the good work.
Loved the extra information provided by the text for the reasons you do things and the other fish you brought up. Being never been to Alaska its neat to know all of the fish you bring up.
Matt you and your dad are my favorite U-tube to watch. Sure glad I had the chance to meet you both in person while I was home this summer. Good sailing to you both and I think its possible I met your mom when she was a little girl, Al and I used to talk over the fence so to speak. Plus he used to call me and my taxi cab alot while he was working at the Ships Tavern.
I'm only 6:23 into this, and those s**thawks are incessant hey?...continuing the vid...lol 11:00 you made the right choice to throw back. Hopefully schools of them run past, and are hungry... Great morning fish...congrats on your 120 pounder!!
I'd add scent to the cut bait and let it sit in the tub for a day to allow the scent to absorb into the bait . I've had really good luck with bloody tuna scent and a little goes a long way. I put it in my chum bag I send down with the anchor that's against the tide ,the chum bag seems to bring the halibut from anywhere down stream from the direction the tides running.
That's one good reason our bundled bait works so well, all the bait scents mix together. We've never tried an anchor chum, might be an idea next season.
Well it seems that soaking it for a little longer would be better then just pulling up good bait and throwing good bait away and not harvesting any fish isn't a good idea. I think a longer soak is the right way to go. Besides that makes for better content. Love your videos, Stan
Again notice a lot of seagulls hovering around the boat chasing the discarded unused bait on the hooks .At the same time Matt was cutting up additional bait at the stern, do the seagulls ever steal much of the cut up bait as you move to assist with the hauling in of a larger halibut.
My guess on that huge fish is 57 inches? Should have a guessing game on the largest fish per upload? More fun for me who is in the metric so have to mentally convert over. 😂 God bless and travel safe
Go EIS!! Loved every second guys. A commenter said nice yellow eye. I agree. That one looked very big. Question? At about minute 18:00 there was a light in the background at one point it became very bright. What was that? Another fishing boat. With AIS? I figure you saw it. IDK Len or Matt just a lover of your real RUclips’s. Eric
Hi Max. Yes, that was another fishing vessel. Not sure who it was, but there was another halibut longliner working further out. We don't have an AIS transponder, but can see other vessels if they have theirs turned on.
When you guys hit a hot spot in the line, do you note depth temp etc, and try to reset on same type of area again? Boat looks like everything seems to be working well.
Good morning. You are the experts but just a thought. You appear to be having difficulty observing fore around the wind deflector to see the buoys. Given you have said the deflector is beneficial when hauling in line, would it be possible to hinge the deflector so it could be folded against the wheel house when not hauling line then locked back out in position when needed?
I can easily peer around the wind wall and see everything in front on the starboard side. The bow is what really blocks everything as it is so large and I can't see over it.

I have two spiny dog fish in jars and they both came from Emerald Isle…………North Carolina 😂😂😂😂😂

Have you guys ever used a harpoon on larger halibut?
How many hooks on each line. Love the channel
KUDOS TO THE INFO ON THE SCREEN.
Can you use those bull heads for bait or does that get you in a bi catch problem
What did the big one weigh and measure in at?
Do you sharpen your hooks?
Not very often. If I find a busted tip I'll set it on the reel and hit it with a file later.
can you not use star fish for bait? jerry
Id get an undersea robot and find fish before I drop.
Over night is better 2 or 3 hre😅
why no cc i cant here
Sorry about that. CC is auto generated, audio was a bit rough this time around.
The same as you can't waste your time and money
Let it soak longer why waste the bait
You guys call them sand fleas we call them lice ... Thay will eat a hole fish from the inside out...
I have no idea what you are saying. Please turn on the closed captions.
Drop it down let it re-soak nothing but losing but fuel, do the yellow eyes count against your bi-catch limits?
